To solve the problem that the current skin lesion segmentation networks have a poor segmentation accuracy when lesion areas are of different shapes and sizes and low contrast at the edge areas, based on U-Net, we present a skin lesion segmentation network based on multi-scale and improved skip connections. Firstly, a multi-scale feature enhancement module is designed to replace the U-Net's 3× 3 convolution blocks, which can improve the feature extraction ability of the network about lesion areas of different shapes and sizes. Secondly, a lesion attention module is introduced into the skip connection to improve the semantic expression of low-level features and the location attention of high-level features, which can improve the fine-grained information transmission efficiency at the skip connection. Finally, a new hybrid loss function is designed to calculate the label and the edge loss of lesion areas, which improves the ability of the network to segment lesion areas and edges. Experiments are conducted on the ISIC2017 and ISIC2018 datasets, and the results prove that our method have a higher segmentation accuracy in skin lesion segmentation. © 2024 IEEE.

The research of fuel cell and lithium battery hybrid system has attracted more and more researchers because of its advantages of low emission. However, the lower efficiency of energy management has been a critical factor that obstruct the commercialization of hybrid system. In this work, based on finite element ideas, a solid oxide full cell node model is developed to accurately estimate the operating status of the fuel cell. As for lithium battery, previous energy management studies generally only focused on state of charge, however, state of health is also a key parameter for lithium battery. In this paper, considering the strong coupling between variables we use particle filter algorithm to jointly estimate the state of charge and state of health. To reasonably distribute and manage the energy in the hybrid system, a T-S fuzzy controller for the hybrid system is designed by controlling the state variables in the SOFC model and the state of lithium battery. Finally, our algorithm is verified by DSPACE simulation platform. The result shows that the hybrid system with the energy management strategy not only meets the real-time sharply changing demand but also ensures the hybrid system working efficiently and safely. © 2022 China Electric Power Research Institute. Deploying task caching at edge servers has become an effectiveway to handle compute-intensive and latency-sensitive tasks on the industrialinternet. However, how to select the task scheduling location to reduce taskdelay and cost while ensuring the data security and reliable communicationof edge computing remains a challenge. To solve this problem, this paperestablishes a task scheduling model with joint blockchain and task cachingin the industrial internet and designs a novel blockchain-assisted cachingmechanism to enhance system security. In this paper, the task schedulingproblem, which couples the task scheduling decision, task caching decision,and blockchain reward, is formulated as the minimum weighted cost problemunder delay constraints. This is a mixed integer nonlinear problem, which isproved to be nonconvex and NP-hard. To solve the optimal solution, thispaper proposes a task scheduling strategy algorithm based on an improvedgenetic algorithm (IGA-TSPA) by improving the genetic algorithm initializationand mutation operations to reduce the size of the initial solutionspace and enhance the optimal solution convergence speed. In addition,an Improved Least Frequently Used algorithm is proposed to improve thecontent hit rate. Simulation results show that IGA-TSPA has a faster optimalsolution-solving ability and shorter running time compared with the existingedge computing scheduling algorithms. The established task scheduling modelnot only saves 62.19% of system overhead consumption in comparison withlocal computing but also has great significance in protecting data security,reducing task processing delay, and reducing system cost.

A brain-computer interface (BCI) enables direct communication between the brain and an external device. Electroencephalogram (EEG) is the preferred input signal in non-invasive BCIs, due to its convenience and low cost. EEG-based BCIs have been successfully used in many applications, such as neurological rehabilitation, text input, games, and so on. However, EEG signals inherently carry rich personal information, necessitating privacy protection. This paper demonstrates that multiple types of private information (user identity, gender, and BCI-experience) can be easily inferred from EEG data, imposing a serious privacy threat to BCIs, To address this issue, we design perturbations to convert the original EEG data into privacy-protected EEG data, which conceal the private information while maintaining the primary BCI task performance. Experimental results demonstrated that the privacy-protected EEG data can significantly reduce the classification accuracy of user identity, gender and BCI-experience, but almost do not affect at all the classification accuracy of the primary BCI task, enabling user privacy protection in EEG-based BCIs. © 2024 IEEE.

Image-based synthetic aperture radar (SAR) target three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction is an important application for extracting target information from high-resolution two-dimensional (2D) SAR images. However, due to the complex mechanism of SAR imaging, developing a data-driven, fully automated 3D reconstruction framework with explicit physical constraints is very difficult. Thus, this paper proposes a differentiable framework for image-based SAR target reconstruction with 3D Gaussian Splatting, which can automatically realize the 3D target reconstruction from multi-view SAR images. Specifically, the proposed differentiable framework accumulates and generates simulated SAR images according to the SAR imaging geometry and projection during the forward simulation stage. By calculating the loss between the simulated and ground truth SAR images and backpropagating, the spatial positions of the 3D Gaussians are continuously adjusted until convergence, generating the 3D point cloud model of the target. The experiment is conducted on the constructed T72 SAR image dataset and the reconstruction results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework. © 2024 IEEE.

Covert Communications in D2D Underlaying Cellular Networks With Dual Uncertainties at the Warden

Covert device-to-device (D2D) communication aims to hide the existence of D2D transmission behavior from the warden, which plays a pivotal role in bolstering D2D communication security. The existing research on covert D2D communication either considered the interference's assistance with perfect channel state information (CSI) available at the warden, or considered channel distribution information (CDI) at the warden without the assistance of interference. These setups facilitate the performance analyses and the parameters design, which, however, did not fully exploit the potential of covert D2D communication, since both channel uncertainty and interference uncertainty exist in practice. In this paper, two covert schemes are proposed for covert D2D communication with dual uncertainties at the warden, where the warden has imperfect CSI. The base station transmits artificial noise to assist covert communication in the first scheme. In the second scheme, the cellular user adopts variable power to confuse the warden. For both schemes, the closed-form expressions of the warden's approximate minimum detection error probability and the achievable D2D communication rate are derived. The achievable D2D communication rate is maximized by jointly optimizing the transmit power of different links with given covertness requirement. The results suggest that the proposed schemes achieve higher communication performance by considering dual uncertainties. Moreover, the scheme with variable cellular user's transmit power performs better when the covert receiver can not well handle the interference from artificial noise. © 2025 IEEE.

Recent advances in multimodal artificial intelligence have greatly improved the integration of vision-language-audio cues to enrich the content creation process. Inspired by these developments, in this paper, we first integrate audio into the face inpainting task to facilitate identity manipulation. Our main insight is that a person's voice carries distinct identity markers, such as age and gender, which provide an essential supplement for identity-aware face inpainting. By extracting identity information from audio as guidance, our method can naturally support tasks of identity preservation and identity swapping in face inpainting. Specifically, we introduce a dual-stream network architecture comprising a face branch and an audio branch. The face branch is tasked with extracting deterministic information from the visible parts of the input masked face, while the audio branch is designed to capture heuristic identity priors from the speaker's voice. The identity codes from two streams are integrated using a multi-layer perceptron (MLP) to create a virtual unified identity embedding that represennts comprehensive identity features. In addition, to explicitly exploit the information from audio, we introduce an audio-face generator to generate an 'fake' audio face directly from audio and fuse the multi-scale intermediate features from the audio-face generator into face inpainting network through an audio-visual feature fusion (AVFF) module. Extensive experiments demonstrate the positive impact of extracting identity information from audio on face inpainting task, especially in identity preservation. © 2024 ACM.

Thyroid nodules, which can manifest as solitary or multiple growths, are among the most prevalent diseases with a high incidence rate. When examining thyroid nodules, ultrasound is typically the first step. Ultrasound image segmentation of thyroid nodules can assist physicians in diagnosis. However, the following three factors limit the development of thyroid nodule segmentation: (1) most of the existing studies optimize the segmentation of single nodules, and the incidence of multiple nodules is higher, so the segmentation of multiple nodules is also very important;(2) the ultrasound image of thyroid nodules is difficult to segment because of its low resolution and fuzzy boundary;(3) Due to the small data set of thyroid nodule ultrasound, in such a small dataset, attention mechanisms may be prone to overfitting, resulting in poorer generalization performance. Therefore, the attention-based model may not be suitable for the segmentation of thyroid nodules. Hence, we propose Hybrid Convolutional U-Net (HCU-Net), a simple and strong fully convolutional neural network for the segmentation of single or multiple thyroid nodules. HCU-Net incorporates a large receptive field to ensure accurate and stable segmentation. Specifically, we design Hybrid Branch Block to enhance the network's feature extraction capability for single or multiple nodules in ultrasound images by integrating multi-scale features. Furthermore, we add Enhanced ConvNeXt Blocks to the U-Net's final layer, enabling the extraction of global contextual information for segmentation performance. The Experimental results show that our proposed method can effectively improve these issues on two publicly available datasets. In addition, compared to attention-based models, our network is simpler and more suitable for small datasets like ultrasound images. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, an absorber based on split square graphene is designed, which produces double absorption peaks at different polarization incidence. The absorption rates of x-polarized waves at 7.86 THz and 12.63THz are 97.9% and 91.2% respectively. The absorption rates of y-polarized waves at 6.30 THz and 10.52 THz are 94.1% and 93.2%. In this paper, an absorber based on split square graphene is designed, which produces double absorption peaks at different polarization incidence.
