In modern video coding standards, block-based inter prediction is widely adopted, which brings high compression efficiency. However, in natural videos, there are usually multiple moving objects of arbitrary shapes, resulting in complex motion fields that are difficult to represent compactly. This problem has been tackled by more flexible block partitioning methods in the Versatile Video Coding (VVC) standard, but the more flexible partitions require more overhead bits to signal and still cannot be made arbitrarily shaped. To address this limitation, we propose an object segmentation-assisted inter prediction method (SAIP), where objects in the reference frames are segmented by some advanced technologies. With a proper indication, the object segmentation mask is translated from the reference frame to the current frame as the arbitrary-shaped partition of different regions without any extra signal. Using the segmentation mask, motion compensation is separately performed for different regions, achieving higher prediction accuracy. The segmentation mask is further used to code the motion vectors of different regions more efficiently. Moreover, the segmentation mask is considered in the joint rate-distortion optimization for motion estimation and partition estimation to derive the motion vector of different regions and partition more accurately. The proposed method is implemented into the VVC reference software, VTM version 12.0. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves up to 1.98%, 1.14%, 0.79%, and on average 0.82%, 0.49%, 0.37% BD-rate reduction for common test sequences, under the Low-delay P, Low-delay B, and Random Access configurations, respectively. Detecting the status of autonomous underwater vehicle, referred to hereinafter as an underwater target, is fundamental for successfully fulfilling cognition tasks or improving communication quality. In this article, we present a thorough study over the passive detection issue for multiple underwater targets emitting the linear frequency modulation signals. Specifically, hypothesis testing model, which comprises the signals received at the underwater detection node including periodic emission signals from the targets and additive noise, is firstly proposed for the practical scenarios. Then, the detection scheme has been investigated. Among this scheme, the behavior of the signals emitted by the underwater targets has been analyzed;and the primary aiming of the detection procedure, i.e., decision rule and its performance, has also been discussed and derived for the aforementioned scenarios. Towards the end, to confirm the advantages of our proposed studies, numerical simulation examples are carried out to examine the performance under different conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

Granular clustering is an emerging branch in the field of clustering. However, the existing granular clustering algorithms are still immature in terms of weight setting of granular data and noise resistance. In this study, a weighting possibilistic fuzzy c-means algorithm for interval granularity (WPFCM-IG) is proposed. To begin with, a new weight setting method for interval granular data is given. The principle of justifiable granularity is used as the evaluation criterion of granular data, and a weight is assigned to each granular data from two perspectives of coverage and specificity to measure the quality of the granular data. In addition, the idea of possibilistic clustering is introduced, which is helpful to improve the noise resistance. And, with the proposed weights of interval granular data, the influence of data with smaller weights on the clustering results can be reduced during the clustering process. Based upon these ideas, the WPFCM-IG algorithm is put forward, and its core idea, formula derivation and implementation process are described. Finally, the performance of the proposed algorithm is verified by comparison experiments on the artificial and UCI datasets. The experimental results show that the WPFCM-IG algorithm is better than other advanced algorithms in this field in terms of reconstruction error. Next, the WPFCM-IG algorithm is smoother than other algorithms on the collaborative relationship curve between the fuzzy coefficient and the reconstruction error, so WPFCM-IG can better optimize the fuzzy coefficient. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Short-text sentiment analysis plays an integral role in predicting sentiment polarity. The current Tibetan short-text sentiment analysis model applies deep neural networks to learn some local grammatical structure information but ignores known sentiment lexicon information in modeling. Aiming at the above problems, this paper proposes a method for sentiment analysis of Tibetan short-text that incorporates sentiment lexicon information. The method firstly uses the word features extracted by Word2vec and Glove to fuse with the sentiment dictionary information, and inputs them into CNN & BiLSTM networks to extract text context features;secondly, adjusts the weights of the sentiment features through the self-attention mechanism;and finally, uses Softmax to infer the sentiment categories. The experimental results show that the accuracy of this method can reach 93.18% on the self-built sentiment analysis corpus. In addition, compared with the methods of extracting syllable features and word features, the accuracy of this paper's method can be improved by 4.92 and 3.43% respectively, which proves the effectiveness of the fused sentiment lexicon. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The study of bioinformatics-based evolutionary computation has long been of significant interest within the scientific community. Beetle antennae search algorithm is widely used because of its lightweight, however, it lacks information sharing due to individual iteration in the algorithm. In this paper, we propose an innovative pheromone-based beetle antennae search algorithm, which evolves from a single iterative individual in BAS algorithm to multiple parallel iterative individuals and incorporates the pheromone sharing mechanism found in ant colony optimization algorithm. Applying the pheromone-based beetle antennae search algorithm to the virtual machine placement problem in cloud computing, we find that pheromone sharing mechanism allows the PB-BAS algorithm to exhibit superior optimization capabilities and effectively avoids convergence to local optimal. To verify the performance of the algorithm, we select other alternative algorithms and conduct a large number of comparative experiments under different experimental setups, the experimental results show the effectiveness and efficiency of our algorithm. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

High-performance ultraviolet (UV) photodetectors play a very important role in many fields, especially in the military, biomedical and other fields. [1]In recent years, many studies have realized ultraviolet photodetectors of 2D layered materials, overcome the problems of traditional ultraviolet detectors that are large and use high voltages. [1]Up to now, most of these works use atomically thin layers and simple p-n van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures, which have difficulty meeting the conditions of high sensitivity and ultrafast response at the same time. we report the double p-n van der Waals (vdW) heterostructure built on a large electrode. The two p-n junctions connected in parallel were proven to be able to effectively separate photo-generated carriers and suitable for ultraviolet light. This new type of photodetector exhibits competitive performance, including high R up to 254.8 A/W under UV light, and fast photoresponse τr = 7.9 μs and τd = 3.9 μs. These results provide an ideal platform for realizing highly sensitive UV photodetectors. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

To address the issue of patch effect and halo effect in dehazed images due to the influence of dehazing, an improved image dehazing algorithm is proposed based on multi-scale feature fusion. On the one hand, the patch effect and halo effect expose the inaccurate estimation of parameters in image dehazing, the transferring efficiency of image features is enhanced by introducing an attention mechanism in this paper, which shows a more accurate estimation and better convergence ability. On the other hand, for a more real dehazing effect, the realness index is introduced to the loss function in the network. Compared with the recent state-of-the-art dehazing methods, the results of the validation in the NYU-depth2 test set show the peak signal-to-noise ratio index of improved image dehazing network is increased by 7.28%, and the structural similarity index reaches 0.901. The improved image dehazing network can effectively restore images from haze and the dehazed images are more real and natural. © 2021 IEEE.

A four-port multi-input multi-output (MIMO) dielectric resonator (DR) antenna (DRA) is presented in this paper. Combing four rectangular DRs together can form a single DR element. With shape modification and conformal strips, the four ports can be decoupled. To verify the design idea, a transparent prototype can be designed and fabricated for 2.4-GHz band applications. The measured results show an impedance bandwidth of 5.8% and an isolation level of 24 dB.

Knowledge tracing has been widely used in online learning systems to guide the students' future learning. However, most existing KT models primarily focus on extracting abundant information from the question sets and explore the relationships between them, but ignore the personalized student behavioral information in the learning process. This will limit the model's ability to accurately capture the personalized knowledge states of students and reasonably predict their performances. To alleviate this limitation, we explicitly models the personalized learning process by incorporating the emotions, a representative personalized behavior in the learning process, into KT framework. Specifically, we present a novel Dual-State Personalized Knowledge Tracing with Emotional Incorporation model to achieve this goal: Firstly, we incorporate emotional information into the modeling process of knowledge state, resulting in the Knowledge State Boosting Module. Secondly, we design an Emotional State Tracing Module to monitor students' personalized emotional states, and propose an emotion prediction method based on personalized emotional states. Finally, we apply the predicted emotions to enhance students' response prediction. Furthermore, to extend the generalization capability of our model across different datasets, we design a transferred version of DEKT, named Transfer Learningbased Self-loop model (T-DEKT).
