Spatio-temporal relationships play an important role in group activity recognition. The spatio-temporal relationships are complex and varied, containing relationships between individuals, between individuals and subgroups, and between subgroups. However, there is no unified method for measuring these multidimensional spatio-temporal relationships. Therefore, this paper proposes a set of metric methods for multidimensional spatio-temporal relationships based on geometric algebra, including the metric method based on positional features and the metric method based on appearance features. And this paper proposed a deep network for video group activity recognition based on multidimensional spatio-temporal relationships. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively improve the accuracy of group activity recognition.

MAGPNet: Multi-Domain Attention-Guided Pyramid Network for Infrared Small Object Detection

To overcome the obstacles of poor feature extraction and little prior information on the appearance of infrared dim small targets, we propose a multi-domain attention-guided pyramid network (MAGPNet). Specifically, we design three modules to ensure that salient features of small targets can be acquired and retained in the multi-scale feature maps. To improve the adaptability of the network for targets of different sizes, we design a kernel aggregation attention block with a receptive field attention branch and weight the feature maps under different perceptual fields with attention mechanism. Based on the research on human vision system, we further propose an adaptive local contrast measure module to enhance the local features of infrared small targets. With this parameterized component, we can implement the information aggregation of multi-scale contrast saliency maps. Finally, to fully utilize the information within spatial and channel domains in feature maps of different scales, we propose the mixed spatial-channel attention-guided fusion module to achieve high-quality fusion effects while ensuring that the small target features can be preserved at deep layers. Experiments on public datasets demonstrate that our MAGPNet can achieve a better performance over other state-of-the-art methods in terms of the intersection of union, Precision, Recall, and F-measure. In addition, we conduct detailed ablation studies to verify the effectiveness of each component in our network. © 2024, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

For a long time, people have believed that representation problems are one of the bottlenecks in the field of machine learning. Therefore, it is a long-term and exploratory work to study machine learning representation methods. Due to this, we use category theory to study the fusion representation of data dimensionality reduction. We propose the basic concept of category representation for data dimensionality reduction and provide a data dimensionality reduction fusion representation framework. We have conducted research and analysis on algorithms such as PCA, KPCA, and LDA, identified the essential connection between PCA, KPCA, and LDA and proposed a data dimensionality reduction fusion representation algorithm based on a data dimensionality reduction fusion representation framework. Finally, we demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed method through experiments. © 2025 SPIE.

The levels of inter-user interference (IUI) usually vary due to the different geographical locations of users, but, most existing beam selection methods apply the same beam selection criteria for all users, which is detrimental to maintain an attractive trade-off between complexity and system performance. Considering the discrepancy of IUI comprehensively, a low complexity beam selection method for millimeter-wave massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems is proposed. Firstly, a candidate beam set (CBS) is constructed in light of the sparsity and power distribution of the beamspace channel, thereby all users are classified into non-interfering users (NIUs), low-interference users (LIUs) and high-interference users (HIUs). For NIUs, the beams with large power are selected from CBS under the magnitude maximization (MM) criterion;for LIUs, a novel MM criterion with a tabu list is designed, which can effectively tackle the drawback of assigning shared beams in traditional MM;for HIUs, the incremental algorithm based on the sum-rate maximization criterion is developed to find the optimal beams from CBS. Simulation results validate that the proposed method can achieve almost the same sum-rate performance as the existing methods with the lower computational complexity. © 2023 IEEE.

An edge detection technology based on the combination of non-downsampling contour wave transform (NSCT) and tensor voting is proposed, which aims to obtain more accurate and detailed edge information of buildings in remote sensing images. Firstly, NSCT is used for image decomposition to obtain the subband frequency information of different scales and angles. Then, position encoding is performed on these subband coefficients to obtain second-order symmetric tensors at the corresponding positions. Tensors of different scales and angles at the same position are weighted and summed to complete feature fusion. Finally, the edge features of the image are obtained based on tensor voting theory. The experimental results show that compared to common edge detection technologies, such as Canny, Fast Edge (Fast edge detection using structured forests) and HED (Holistically-Nested Edge Detection), our method can more accurately and intensively reflect the boundaries of buildings and the edge information of roofs, providing better support for the analysis of building types and architectural styles. Compared to the HED method, which is based on deep learning, our method improves PSNR and SSIM metrics by 0.98 and 0.03, respectively. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In unknown environments, behavioral decision-making of mobile robots is a crucial research topic in the field of robotics applications. To address the low learning ability and the difficulty of learning from the unknown environments for mobile robots, this work proposes a new learning model which integrates the supervised learning of the cerebellum, reinforcement learning of the basal ganglia, and memory consolidation of the hippocampus. Firstly, to reduce the impact of noise on inputs and enhance the network's efficiency, a multi-neuron winning strategy and the refinement of the top-k competition mechanism have been adopted. Secondly, to increase the network's learning speed, a negative learning mechanism has been designed, which allows the robot to avoid obstacles more quickly through weakening the synaptic connections between error neurons. Thirdly, to enhance the decision ability of cerebellar supervised learning, simulating the hippocampal memory consolidation mechanism, memory replay during the agent's offline state enables autonomous learning in the absence of real-time interactions. Finally, to better adjust the roles of cerebellar supervised learning and basal ganglia reinforcement learning in robot behavioral decision-making, a new similarity indicator has been designed. Simulation experiments and real-world experiments validate the effectiveness of the proposed model in this work. © 2020 IEEE.

Language-image pre-training is an effective technique for learning powerful representations in general domains. However, when directly turning to person representation learning, these general pre-training methods suffer from unsatisfactory performance. The reason is that they neglect critical person-related characteristics, i.e., fine-grained attributes and identities. To address this issue, we propose a novel language-image pre-training framework for person representation learning, termed PLIP. Specifically, we elaborately design three pretext tasks: 1) Text-guided Image Colorization, aims to establish the correspondence between the person-related image regions and the fine-grained color-part textual phrases. 2) Image-guided Attributes Prediction, aims to mine fine-grained attribute information of the person body in the image;and 3) Identity-based Vision-Language Contrast, aims to correlate the cross-modal representations at the identity level rather than the instance level. Moreover, to implement our pre-train framework, we construct a large-scale person dataset with image-text pairs named SYNTH-PEDES by automatically generating textual annotations. We pre-train PLIP on SYNTH-PEDES and evaluate our models by spanning downstream person-centric tasks. PLIP not only significantly improves existing methods on all these tasks, but also shows great ability in the zero-shot and domain generalization settings. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. Aiming at the existing hand gesture estimation algorithms with large computation and poor real-time performance, this paper proposes an improved YOLOv8 algorithm for hand recognition, which combines the improved YOLOv8 detection algorithm for the detection of the hand and combines it with gesture analysis to realize gesture recognition. The improved algorithm not only reduces the amount of floating-point arithmetic, but also increases the accuracy and robustness of detection. In the gesture detection part, the traditional YOLOv8 algorithm is improved by firstly adding the p6 detection head, secondly replacing the CBS module with RFSE module, and thirdly replacing the C2f module with CFE module. The gesture analysis part is performed by training the yolov8 classification model for gesture recognition. The test results of the improved model in TV-Hand and COCO-Hand datasets confirm the effectiveness of the improved YOLOv8 algorithm in this paper, which improves the accuracy by 2.3% and reduces the computational volume by 13.5% compared to the original YOLOv8n, and the correct rates of gesture recognition are all over 0%, and the improved algorithm, which ensures the lightweight and at the same time realizes the further enhancement of accuracy The improved algorithm can realize further improvement of accuracy while ensuring lightweight, and the application prospect is broader. © 2024 IEEE.
