In large-scale distributed storage systems, the repair bandwidth, i.e., the amount of data downloaded for failures, is one of the most important factors that determines the performance of the system. In this paper, we design a novel cooperative repair scheme, specifically, for Zigzag MSR codes with optimal repair bandwidth, enabling the repair of any h=2 failed nodes. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first cooperative repair scheme for Zigzag MSR codes. In contrast to the previous cooperative repair MSR codes, our scheme extremely reduces the size of finite field to Fq, q ≥ n+1. © 2023 IEEE.

High-precision end-to-end adaptive optics aided orbital angular momentum wireless communication with XFTC-Net

In this Letter, we demonstrate high-precision end-to-end adaptive optics (AO) technique based on the X-Shape Fusion Transformer-convolutional neural network (XFTC-Net) without an additional probe path to compensate for distortions caused by atmospheric turbulence (AT) in orbital angular momentum (OAM) optical wireless communication links. The experimental results show that the XFTC-Net effectively extracts the intensity distribution features of distorted OAM beams, predicting AT phase screens and identifying OAM modes. After XFTC-Net-aided AO compensation, the bit error rate of the OAM optical communication system remains below 3.8 × 10−3, staying within Cn2 = 1 × 10−15–1 × 10−13 m−2/3. Moreover, the optical power with l= 3 increases from 5.08 dBm to 8.23 dBm at a transmission distance of 800 m. These experimental results indicate that the proposed XFTC-Net AO technique effectively compensates for OAM beam distortion in both single- and multiplexed-channel OAM links, which effectively balances the system complexity and transmission performance of OAM-based free space optical (FSO) communication systems, opening up new avenues for enhancing the performances of high-capacity optical communication. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group. C3shartMark: A Chart Watermarking Scheme With Consecutive-Encoding and Concurrent-Decoding

Chart images are widely employed as the intuitive form to express information, which renders them highly valuable. Consequently, there is an urgent demand to develop a watermarking algorithm for copyright protection and leakage prevention of chart images. Nevertheless, existing chart watermarking methods fail to thoroughly consider the chart image's special characteristics and simply rely on the previous natural image-based watermarking framework. Compared to natural images, the chart image generally exhibits relatively simple layouts and textures, containing fewer complex texture regions that watermarks are typically embedded in. Therefore, the embedding locations of watermarks for different distortions can be relatively dispersed in natural images, while for chart images, watermark embedding regions under various distortion conditions tend to be relatively concentrated and share more overlaps. Inspired by the above special characteristics of chart images, to sufficiently leverage them and design a better framework, this paper proposes C3hartMark, a chart watermarking scheme with consecutive-encoding and concurrent-decoding. Instead of using the combined noise layer as existing methods to ensure multiple robustness, a novel consecutive training framework is introduced in this paper, which efficiently utilizes the overlapping of embedded watermark features in chart images, and simultaneously, mitigates the poor convergence brought by the combined noise layer. During the extraction stage, multiple concurrent decoders are introduced to extract the potential embedded watermarks for different distortions independently. Moreover, we also incorporate two special noise layers, namely Captioning and Fusion, to address the corresponding realistic distortions in chart images, and an agnostic noise layer to accommodate potential channel transmission distortions unknown during training. The advancement of 5G and mobile internet technologies has propelled the development of emerging businesses and applications, demanding higher requirements for network bandwidth and computational resources. To address this challenge, the computing power network (CPN) has emerged. The CPN integrates computing and networking in depth, achieving collaborative allocation of distributed computing resources, enhancing the efficient utilization of computing resources, and improving user experiences in network services. However, in the development of fields such as Extended Reality (XR), Smart Healthcare, Connected Vehicles, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), there is a multidimensional, complex, and rapidly growing demand for computing resources. Therefore, it is crucial to establish a trading mechanism that integrates multiple computing resources in CPN. In this paper, a computing power trading scheme based on blockchain and combinatorial double auction is proposed. Firstly, a computing power trading system based on blockchain was designed, leveraging the decentralized and highly secure characteristics of blockchain technology to enhance the security of computing power transactions. Furthermore, a multi-type computing power trading mechanism (MCPT) based on blockchain and combinatorial double auction was introduced. The use of combinatorial double auctions as an incentive mechanism enables the trading of multiple computing power resources and results in high social welfare. Moreover, a discrete rime optimization algorithm (DRIME) is designed in the proposed mechanism (MCPT) to better solve the computing trading problem. Through simulation experiments, the effectiveness of the approach is validated. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Large Language Models (LLMs) are now being considered as judges of high efficiency to evaluate the quality of answers generated by candidate models. However, their judgments may be influenced by complex scenarios and inherent biases, raising concerns about their reliability. This study aims to bridge this gap by introducing four unexplored factors and examining the performance of LLMs as judges, namely answer quantity, inducing statements, judging strategy, and judging style. Additionally, we introduce a new dimension of question difficulty to provide a more comprehensive understanding of LLMs' judgments across varying question intricacies. We employ ChatGPT, GPT-4, Gemini, and Claude-2 as judges and conduct experiments on Vicuna Benchmark and MT-bench. Our study reveals that LLMs' judging abilities are susceptible to the influence of these four factors, and analyzing from the newly proposed dimension of question difficulty is highly necessary. We also provide valuable insights into optimizing LLMs' performance as judges, enhancing their reliability and adaptability across diverse evaluation scenarios. © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

Recent deep learning models have advanced object detection capabilities, but their reliance on labeled data limits scalability. Fine-grained zero-shot detection remains challenging due to the need to generalize to unseen classes and distinguish subtle features. To address this, we propose Fine-Grained Zero-Shot Object Detection via Semantic Decoupling (ZSD-SD). Our approach introduces a semantic decoupling module to separate visual features into semantic-related and semantic-unrelated components, facilitating alignment between visual and semantic spaces. A semantic-visual learning module further decouples these features, enhancing visual representations relevant to external semantic knowledge. This semantic-related representation significantly improves zero-shot performance. Experiments on two fine-grained object detection datasets demonstrate that ZSD-SD achieves state-of-the-art results. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

In this paper, we discuss codes for distributed storage systems with hierarchical repair properties. Specifically, we devote attention to the repair problem of the rack-aware storage model with locality, aiming to enhance the system’s ability to repair a small number of erasures within each rack by locality and efficiently handling a rack erasure with a small repair bandwidth. By employing the regenerating coding technique, we construct a family of array codes with (r, u−r+1)-locality, where the u nodes of each repair set are systematically organized into a rack. When the number of failures is less than u − r + 1, these failures can be repaired without counting the system bandwidth. In cases where the number of failures exceeds the locality, the failed nodes within a single rack can be recovered with optimal cross-rack bandwidth. Copyright © 2024, The Authors.
