Design of a wide-field target detection and tracking system using the segmented planar imaging detector for electro-optical reconnaissance

Detecting and tracking multiple targets simultaneously for space-based surveillance requires multiple cameras,which leads to a large system volume and weight. To address this problem, we propose a wide-field detection and tracking system using the segmented planar imaging detector for electro-optical reconnaissance. This study realizes two operating modes by changing the working paired lenslets and corresponding waveguide arrays： a detection mode and a tracking mode. A model system was simulated and evaluated using the peak signal-to-noise ratio method. The simulation results indicate that the detection and tracking system can realize wide-field detection and narrow-field, multi-target, high-resolution tracking without moving parts.

Deployment of modern detection models is difficult for infrared target detection used in robot vision systems due to their heavy computational burden. To alleviate this situation, a simple but efficient channel pruning method is proposed for model acceleration. Specifically, a soft-gated module combined with batch normalization (SGBN) is designed as a standalone layer to substitute the standard batch normalization (BN) layer during training. The conversion between SGBN and BN is easy, and the training overhead introduced is almost negligible after replacement. By controlling the sparsity of the scaling factor in SGBN, unimportant channels with small output are blocked automatically and globally, which is simultaneous with model training. Removing these redundant channels no longer requires fine-tuning, thus significantly speeding up the pruning process. Experiments of pruning different detection models on the infrared dataset show the effectiveness of our method. For example, the parameters and FLOPs of pruned CetnerNet are reduced by 72.70% and 40.20%, respectively, without accuracy loss. The inference speed on the CPU is 12.01ms faster. Extended studies on the classification task also demonstrate its great potential when transferring to other applications. © 2022 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

In order to realize the fusion and detection of ship targets, infrared polarization image fusion and detection technology is adopted in this paper, and a design scheme of infrared polarization image fusion and detection system based on ship targets is proposed, which solves the key technologies such as processing system and fusion and detection algorithm, and the image detection rate is high. Meteorological satellites have become an irreplaceable weather and ocean observing tool. Since the first Chinese polar-orbiting meteorological satellite Feng-Yun (FY-1A) was launched successfully in 1988, there are totally 13 meteorological satellites that were launched into both sun synchronous and geostationary orbit. China is among the few countries in the world which are simultaneously operating both orbiting meteorological satellites. All the satellites have been incorporated into the global constellations of operational meteorological satellites within the WMO framework. More satellites are under construction to be the second generation ones. The status of Chinese meteorological satellite mission is introduced in this paper.

In the face of complex background and severe weather environment, infrared polarization detection has obvious advantages. In this paper, the ship target detection method based on infrared polarization image is studied and the ship target infrared polarization image detection method based on local contrast is proposed. The ship target detection accuracy of the proposed algorithm is 0.956, and the false alarm rate of the ship detection is low, which verifies the effectiveness of the detection algorithm in detecting the ship target, which has great application value in military applications. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. The satellite-borne infrared Fourier spectrometer is one of the main infrared remote sensing instruments mounted on meteorological satellites. It can detect the vertical distribution of parameters such as large temperature and humidity. In this paper, the development of spaceborne infrared Fourier spectrometer is reviewed, and the performance characteristics of the spaceborne infrared Fourier spectrometer at a different stage at home and abroad are compared. Combined with the development of current instruments and the characteristics of the information age, the process of spaceborne infrared Fourier spectrometer technology development is prospected, and the development direction of "one wide and three high" and hyperspectral integrated data network is pointed out, which can provide reference for maturity and practicability of the infrared Fourier spectrometer technology in China. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

To overcome image degradation under the conditions of haze,and fog,a method using conditional generative adversarial defogging algorithm based on polarization characteristic is *** original images with different polarization angles were obtained from the original image,and then the polarization images were characterized using Stokes *** the relationship between Stokes vector and polarization image,each polarization image with different angles is input into the same network to extract *** the same time,the enhanced network is used to extract the characteristics of the fog area in the polarization image,and the polarization information is extracted by layer jump connection,which is fused with the image features of different *** constructing the loss function and obtaining the optimal solution,the fog-free image is finally *** results show that a clear image can be reconstructed in fog situations by using conditional generative adversarial network-based on polarization characteristics,and the structural similarity is improved by about 10%,the peak signal to noise ratio is increased by about 0.5.

Nowadays, multi-functional materials are desperately required for adapting the complex environment, which urges us to take more factors into consideration. Here, we proposed a broadband microwave absorber with multi-functionality such as optically transparent, thermal insulating and soundproof properties. Using indium tin oxide(ITO) based metamaterial, the device can achieve above 90% microwave absorption from 5.6 GHz to 23 GHz(cover X and Ku band). Moreover, with designed vacuum structure inside, the device is thermal insulating and soundproof. These multi-functional advantages give the absorber more flexibility in electromagnetic shielding and stealth application, which can be potentially applied in windows related industry.

To overcome the obstacles of poor feature extraction and little prior information on the appearance of infrared dim small targets, we propose a multi-domain attention-guided pyramid network (MAGPNet). Specifically, we design three modules to ensure that salient features of small targets can be acquired and retained in the multi-scale feature maps. To improve the adaptability of the network for targets of different sizes, we design a kernel aggregation attention block with a receptive field attention branch and weight the feature maps under different perceptual fields with attention mechanism. Based on the research on human vision system, we further propose an adaptive local contrast measure module to enhance the local features of infrared small targets. With this parameterized component, we can implement the information aggregation of multi-scale contrast saliency maps. Finally, to fully utilize the information within spatial and channel domains in feature maps of different scales, we propose the mixed spatial-channel attention-guided fusion module to achieve high-quality fusion effects while ensuring that the small target features can be preserved at deep layers. Experiments on public datasets demonstrate that our MAGPNet can achieve a better performance over other state-of-the-art methods in terms of the intersection of union, Precision, Recall, and F-measure. In addition, we conduct detailed ablation studies to verify the effectiveness of each component in our network. © 2024, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
