The traditional infrared dim and small target detection algorithm is generally implemented by DSP (Digital Signal Processing) processor, which is complex and has poor real-time performance. In this paper, a FAST (Features from Accelerated Segment Test) algorithm of adaptive threshold based on FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) is proposed to detect infrared dim and small target. Based on the characteristics of FPGA parallel processing, the hardware acceleration of algorithm is realized by pipeline design. The improved adaptive threshold method can generate appropriate thresholds according to different environments, and avoid the loss or redundancy of dim and small infrared targets due to improper threshold selection. At last, two different groups of infrared images are used for experiment, the results show that the algorithm can detect the dim and small targets in the infrared image in real time, and can achieve high detection rate and low false alarm rate, which meets the requirements of real-time and effectiveness.

Number of vehicles on road is very important traffic data and is essential for transportation safety and management. In this paper, an approach for vehicle detection is presented. In this approach, virtual line based sensors which are just straight detection lines are first set on road lanes. Then two features, namely gradient and range feature, are proposed for vehicle detection. This is carried out by extracting and analyzing the two features on detection lines. Meanwhile, the solution for vehicle occlusion have also been proposed. Our proposed method has an outstanding advantage that it performs excellent in traffic jams as well as under various conditions, such as sunny, cloudy, and rainy days, or night time, or even tunnels with complex illumination. The high accuracy rate of our method is verified with the experiment results.

This paper briefly described an improved method for the original proposed scheme based on Vector Quantization and Linear Prediction to further enhance the compression ratio while reduce the time cost. Given the fact that the interferograms belong to the same datacube are similar to each other, there are two obvious modifications in this paper: predict only once to get the general predicted coefficients for the same datacube; along with treat datacube rather than sequence as the encoded unit. The time consumption spent by Linear Prediction part will shrink about 35.55% by predicting just once. Moreover, the change of the encoded object makes the final compression ratio get a further rise range from 2.62% to 3.711%.

The geometric parameters acquisition of splice detector is the most important thing to validate and evaluate the success of splice, but there is no systematic approach to solve it. For the rotation between the two detectors, the translation of the vertical slit, the slit width and other geometric parameters, the method based on imaging can give very accurate results. On the other hand, the smart-scope can give us the actual mean width of detector splicing, and the results are similar to the above. It proves that the method based on imaging can complete various geometric parameters tests with a very high precision. It just meets the needs of easy and high precision of the aerospace application, and it can provide powerful technical support for the detector slit splicing.
