Nonresonant detection on terahertz radiation of field effect transistors by the influence of magnetic field is studied in this paper. The influence of the magnetic field upon the electron mobility in the transistor channel is discussed and the corresponding influence on the nonresonant detection photoresponse is analyzed in detail. Based on the work before, the numerical tool has been modified by adding the influence of magnetic field, and the nonresonant photoresponse characteristics are investigated. The result of simulation has verified the theory, and the work mechanism of this influence has been revealed in this paper.

A new numerical method is proposed to study nonlinear response of two-dimensional electron plasmas in the channel of field effect transistor structures. The numerical simulations are not only in accordance with the existing theory, but also illustrate how phase shift influences the plasma wave transmission in the conduction channels of field effect transistor structures. The numerical simulations contain the nonlinear effects when the boundary conditions are asymmetric, i.e., when a frequency, amplitude, or phase shift exists between ac signals applied at drain and source sides of the field effect transistor (FET). The plasma wave transmission under nonresonant and resonant conditions is simulated by changing certain structure parameters with our developed simulator. These results demonstrate that the developed simulator is a useful tool in THz detector design and optimization.

This paper deals with the design of variable bandwidth linear-phase FIR digital filters by weighted least square method. This proposed algorithm is constructed by a linear combination of fixed-coefficient linear-phase filters, of which the variable bandwidth characteristics are provided by an embedded tuning parameter. Using the weighted least square objective function, the optimal solution is obtained by solving a set of linear equation, which is an error function reflecting the difference between the desired variable bandwidth filter and the practical filter. The proposed algorithm can implement the variable digital filter efficiently by the familiar Farrow structure with only one variable spectral parameter that determines the bandwidth. Mathematics deduction and simulations show this algorithm is simple and effective in designing FIR variable digital filter with better performance than previous ones.

Flash translation layer (FTL) is the key component of NAND flash-based storage system. It consists of the translation of the logical address to physical address and wear-leveling technology. This paper proposed a new sub-management based flash translation layer model that can be used in high-speed solid-state storage systems. In this model, the storage space is sub-managed, which is benefit for improving the external bandwidth. When IO size exceeds 32KB,experiments showed the model can improve system bandwidth up to 100% compared with current technology. Moreover, the flash translation layer is broken down into a segment management and translation system for per segment, which reduces the design complexity, and helps to build high-capacity storage systems. Using both inter-segment and in-segment wear-leveling technology, the model can effectively ensure the life of storage systems.

This paper proposes a novel technique of dynamic context management scheme for coarse-grained reconfigurable array DSP architecture, which effectively reduces the power consumption and speedup reconfigurable process. The technique permits background loading of configuration data without interrupting the regular execution, overlapping computation with reconfiguration. And stored configurations can be switched dramatically reducing reconfiguration overhead if the next configuration is present in one of the alternate contexts. The proposed technique has been verified in ReMAP (Reconfigurable Multi-media Array Processors) with the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) of H.264 and its performance exceed other DSP and multimedia extension architectures by 1.2x to 6.2x. ReMAP was fabricated with SMIC's 0.18um CMOS process mainly for multi-media applications(1).

Verification of processors with high performance is becoming more and more time-consuming and even gradually turning into the bottleneck of the processor design. The Verification of Reconfiguralbe Multimedia Array Processor(ReMAP) we designed for multimedia processing and its internal component Reconfigurable DSP(ReDSP) is also no exception. A high-speed verification platform based on emulator is proposed for ReDSP and ReMAP. We demonstrate the hardware architecture of the platform and different verification modes it supports. A software verification model is proposed, and the evaluation results show a great acceleration rate compared to software simulation1. ©2009 IEEE.

Optimum partial transmit sequence method (OPTS), as one of the highest-performance PAPR reduction techniques, has very high computational complexity. Most sub-optimal schemes which are based on iterative PTS (IPTS), aim at balancing PAPR reduction performance and complexity by expanding the searching space of phase factor sequence with more iterative operations. A novel scheme is presented to further lower the complexity of PTS. This scheme samples every partial transmit sequence, obtains some peak-position samples with the largest magnitudes and then constructs PTS sampling sequence. A proper phase factor sequence can be got through processing PTS sampling sequences according to the principle of OPTS or sub-optimal PTS. Because PTS sampling sequences have fewer samples, the new method can achieve a low complexity. Besides, simulation results show that the new scheme has good PAPR reduction performance. ©2009 IEEE.

Partial transmit sequence approach (PTS) is one of high-performance PAPR reduction techniques for multi-carrier communication systems. However, it has very high computational complexity. This paper presents non-sequential iterative PTS (NS-IPTS) which, instead of adjusting phase factors in sequence, analyzes the influence of the number of the detected peaks on PAPR reduction performance and on complexity, and then obtain the optimal parameter to achieve better PAPR reduction performance and lower complexity. Simulation results show that the PAPR reduction performance of optimized NS-IPTS is 0.38 dB and 0.78 dB better than ordinary iterative PTS (IPTS) and the complexity of NS-IPTS is 10% and 20% lower than IPTS, when the probability is 10 -4 , and V = 16 and 32.

A low-power variable-length FFT processor is proposed in this paper. Mixed-radix algorithm and Radix-2 4 single path delay feedback (SDF) pipeline architecture are chosen to achieve low computation complexity and high reconfigurable flexibility. The system can be reconfigured as 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048 or 4096-points FFT. The FFT processor is implemented with SMIC 0.18 ¿m CMOS technology. The core area is 4 mm 2 . Compared with other design, the proposed FFT processor consumes lower power and smaller area due to adopting high radix algorithm.

Nowadays, H.264 is drawing more attention than other video coding standard because of greater compression ratio and higher video quality. This paper shows the implementation of H.264 on a Reconfigurable Multimedia Array Processor (ReMAP). Algorithm is realized by configuring the ALUs' operation and the communication relationship of the ALU array. ReMAP receives the dataflow, executes the operation with pipelined ALU elements as stream processor. Research shows that ReMAP can support realization of H.264 with comparable performance and achieve more flexibility.
