Andrew's Sine Estimator (ASE) has recently been used to invent adaptive filtering, which can combat more kind of noises than conventional estimators. Inspired by the LMS and its sparse forms, normalization and proportionate ASE algorithms with Lawson constraints are constructed with the respective given names of Lawson normalization ASE (LNASE) and Lawson proportionate NASE (LPNASE). Simulations are performed to analyze the performance of these algorithms under impulsive noise. © 2022 IEEE.

With advancements in deep learning, speaker verification systems have significantly improved their performance in noisy environments. Researchers typically demonstrate the effectiveness of their improved models by comparing performance on specific datasets, such as the VoxCeleb benchmark. However, in diverse real-world noise conditions, the out-of-domain generalization ability is also a crucial factor in evaluating a model's performance improvement. Research on stable learning indicates that eliminating the spurious correlation between training and testing data can enhance the generalization of the model. Building on this idea, we propose an improved speaker verification system with high generalization based on the extended U-Net (ExU-Net). It uses the sample reweighting method from stable learning to eliminate sample correlations and retains more effective speaker information through sub-pixel convolutions and coordinate attention mechanisms. We validate the effectiveness of this approach through extensive evaluations on VoxCeleb1, VOiCES, and other out-of-domain noise test sets, highlighting its generalization capability and model robustness. © 2025 IEEE.

Few-shot font generation (FFG) aims to learn the target style from a limited number of reference glyphs and generate the remaining glyphs in the target font. Previous works focus on disentangling the content and style features of glyphs, combining the content features of the source glyph with the style features of the reference glyph to generate new glyphs. However, the disentanglement is challenging due to the complexity of glyphs, often resulting in glyphs that are influenced by the style of the source glyph and prone to artifacts. We propose IF-Font, a novel paradigm which incorporates Ideographic Description Sequence (IDS) instead of the source glyph to control the semantics of generated glyphs. To achieve this, we quantize the reference glyphs into tokens, and model the token distribution of target glyphs using corresponding IDS and reference tokens. The proposed method excels in synthesizing glyphs with neat and correct strokes, and enables the creation of new glyphs based on provided IDS. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method greatly outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both one-shot and few-shot settings, particularly when the target styles differ significantly from the training font styles. We present a no-reference image-quality - assessment algorithm based on active reasoning module. This algorithm has three modules: the feature extraction module, the active reasoning module, and the quality assessment module. The active reasoning module incorporates the generator component of the generative adversarial network and enhances its structure with the Res2Net architecture. By integrating this module into the backbone feature extraction network, we improve the receptive field of each convolutional layer, enabling the network to capture information at different scales of the image. To preserve the texture information of the image, we input the gradient map of the distorted image, the distorted image itself, and the image features generated by the generator into the quality assessment module, which has a multi-feature regression networks. This module establishes a mapping model from image-feature to image-quality scores. We conducted experimental analysis of this algorithm on three widely used public datasets, confirming the excellent performance and superiorities of the presented algorithm. The results validate the effectiveness of the designed algorithm and its ability to assess image quality accurately. © 2023 IEEE.

The increasing number of presentation attacks on reliable face matching has raised concerns and garnered attention towards face anti-spoofing (FAS). However, existing methods for FAS modeling commonly fuse multiple visual modalities (e.g., RGB, Depth, and Infrared) in a straightforward manner, disregarding latent feature gaps that can hinder representation learning. To address this challenge, we propose a novel multimodal FAS framework (mmFAS) that focuses on explicit alignment and fusion of latent features across different modalities. Specifically, we develop a multimodal alignment module to alleviate the latent feature gap by using instance-level contrastive learning and class-level matching simultaneously. Further, we explore a new switch-attention based fusion module to automatically aggregate complementary information and control model complexity. To evaluate the anti-spoofing performance more effectively, we adopt a challenging yet meaningful cross-database protocol involving four benchmark multimodal FAS datasets to simulate real-world scenarios. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of mmFAS in improving the accuracy of FAS systems, outperforming 10 representative methods. © 2025, Association for the Advancement of Artificial intelligence (***). An ideal desired spatial light modulator that is capable of complex amplitude modulation will be one of the ultimate tools for holographic display. In this paper, an analytical method to overlap double-phase Fresnel holograms displayed on the phase-only spatial light modulators for synthesizing a complex Fresnel hologram is proposed. Two $$4f$$ configurations with the phase-only spatial light modulator inserted in the Fourier plane are employed. Different programmable blazed phase gratings can be easily implemented by encoding their phase functions onto the spatial light modulators. We theoretically analyze the implementation of the proposed system based on Fourier optics. The effects introduced by the discrete pixelated nature of the spatial light modulator are assessed. A $$4f$$ configuration of holographic display system based on two liquid crystals on silicons is designed to indicate the free position-shift of the hologram. We introduce the notion of logarithmically concave (or log-concave) sequences in Coding Theory. A sequence a0, a1, . . ., an of real numbers is called log-concave if a2i ≥ ai−1ai+1 for all 1 ≤ i ≤ n−1. A natural sequence of positive numbers in coding theory is the weight distribution of a linear code consisting of the nonzero values among Ai’s where Ai denotes the number of codewords of weight i. We call a linear code log-concave if its nonzero weight distribution is log-concave. Our main contribution is to show that all binary general Hamming codes of length 2r − 1 (r = 3 or r ≥ 5), the binary extended Hamming codes of length 2r (r ≥ 3), and the second order Reed-Muller codes R(2, m) (m ≥ 2) are all log-concave while the homogeneous and projective second order Reed-Muller codes are either log-concave, or 1-gap log-concave. Furthermore, we show that any MDS [n, k] code over Fq satisfying 3 ≤ k ≤ n/2 + 3 is log-concave if q ≥ q0(n, k) which is the larger root of a quadratic polynomial. Privacy-Preserving Image Retrieval Based on Thumbnail-Preserving Visual Features

Images are generally uploaded to the cloud in plaintext and can be retrieved in the cloud, but privacy may be exposed. To solve this problem, Privacy Preserving Content Based Image Retrieval (PPCBIR) system was proposed. In this system, noise-like image encryption algorithm was used in the early scheme, and Thumbnail Preserving Encryption (TPE) technology was proposed later to balance image privacy and visual usability. However, the existing TPE schemes supporting retrieval have shortcomings in mining the visual usability of TPE images, which limits the retrieval accuracy. Based on this, we propose a VF-PPCBIR scheme combining TPE and image visual features to improve retrieval efficiency and accuracy while ensuring image privacy. Specifically, we redesign a new TPE algorithm for lossless encryption and decryption of arbitrary size images. The design concept of the encryption algorithm is novel, and the encryption effect is more stable. The retrieval process generates thumbnails of the retrieved image and extracts local features in the spatial domain, which are matched with the features extracted from TPE thumbnails in the cloud, and the user can directly select the desired image. In addition, the retrieval scheme uses adjustable feature algorithm to achieve approximate similarity between the ciphertext and the plaintext thumbnail, to achieve accurate feature matching. The experimental results show that the time cost, and mean average precision (mAP) can reach 9.121s and 64.343%, respectively. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.

A hybrid subgrid scheme based on the conventional finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) schemes are proposed. The alternating-direction-implicit FDTD (ADI-FDTD) is used to calculate electromagnetic fields in fine grid regions subgrids and the FDTD method is applied to the coarse grid regions. Numerical results demonstrate that the drastically reduced computation time and memory can be achieved by using the proposed 3D hybrid algorithm. © 2022 IEEE.

Double-Local Conditional Probability Based Fast Calculation Method for Approximation Regions of Probabilistic Rough Sets

As an extended rough set model, the probabilistic rough sets can effectively process data with noise. How to effectively calculate three approximation regions, is a crucial issue of probability rough sets. Existing calculation methods for approximation regions are based on conditional probability, the time complexity is O(|U||U||C|). In order to improve the computing efficiency of three approximation regions of probabilistic rough sets, we propose a double-local conditional probability based fast calculation method. First, to improve the computational efficiency of equivalence class, we define the double-local equivalence class. Second, based on the double-local equivalence class, we define the double-local conditional probability. Finally, given the probability thresholds and a local equivalence class, the monotonicity of double-local conditional probability is proved, on this basis, a double-local conditional probability based fast calculation method for approximation regions of probabilistic rough sets is presented, and the time complexity is O(MAX(X||U||C|, |XC||U||C|)). Experimental results based on 12 datasets from UCI demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
