A U-shaped-like parasitic strip loading antenna is proposed and designed, which can work in L1 band of GPS with circular polarization (CP) characteristics. The antenna consists of ground plane, dielectric, radiation patch and U-shaped-like parasitic strips using a simple coaxial feed probe. The asymmetric U-shaped-like strips are to realize CP. The simulation and optimization results for the modeled directional CP antenna show that the axial ratio bandwidth is 10MHz and the impedance bandwidth is 30MHz, which can meet the requirements for GPS L1 band.

Aiming at the problem that reprojection error (RE) cannot reflect the camera calibration accuracy intuitively, this paper proposes a method to verify the camera calibration results in world coordinate system. Firstly, the checkerboard calibration target is photographed with the camera under test, and the internal parameters and distortion parameters of the camera are calculated by using the pinhole model and the Kannala-Brandt (KB) fisheye model, respectively. Then, the same camera is used to shoot two targets in the field of view (FOV), and the pixel coordinates of the two target points are detected from the image. Thirdly, the inverse projection model is used to calculate the distance between the two objects and the angle between the camera and the two objects, and the real distance and angle are compared. The experimental results show that the average distance errors of the pinhole model and the KB fisheye model are 0.34% and 0.35%, respectively, and the angle errors are 0.40% and 0.12%, respectively, which proves that the verification method can effectively characterize the calibration accuracy of the camera.

As artificial intelligence technology gains widespread adoption in biomedicine, the exploration of integrating biofluidic Raman spectroscopy for enhanced disease diagnosis opens up new prospects for the practical application of Raman spectroscopy in clinical settings. However, for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), the relatively weak signals from a single Raman spectroscopic data make it difficult to obtain desirable classification results. Although the surface enhancement technique can enhance the scattered signal of Raman spectroscopic data, the sensitivity of the SERS substrate to airborne impurities and the non-uniform distribution of hotspots degrade some of the signals. To fully utilize both types of data, this paper proposes a two-branch residual-attention network (DBRAN) fusion technique that allows the original spectra to complement the degraded portion, improving the model's classification accuracy. The residual module is used to extract features, which preserves the original features while extracting the deep ones. At the same time, the study incorporates the attention module in both the upper and lower branches to handle the weight assignment of the two modal features more efficiently. The experimental results demonstrated that both the low-level fusion method and the intermediate-level fusion method significantly improved the diagnostic accuracy of SLE disease classification when compared with a single modality, and the intermediate-level fusion DBRAN achieved 100% classification accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. Compared with the raw Raman spectrum single mode and SERS single mode, the improvement is 10% and 7%, respectively. This experiment realized the rapid diagnosis of SLE disease by fusing the spectral data of multiple modes, which provides a reference idea in the Raman spectroscopy field. © 2023, The Authors. This paper proposes a Da-shaped slotted antenna, where the Chinese culture is integrated into the antenna design to achieve an artistic antenna that can be used in 5G communication system. The designed antenna has circular polarization characteristic, which is composed of ground plane, dielectric layer and metal sheet A engraved with Da-shaped slot, and a U-shaped wall (metal sheet B). A simple L-shaped feed probe is used to improve the working bandwidth of the antenna. A U-shaped metal sheet B is considered to improve antenna gain and axial ratio bandwidth. The simulation and optimization results show that the axial ratio bandwidth is 2.30-2.71GHz, and the impedance bandwidth is 2.44-2.7GHz, both of which can cover operating frequency in the range of 2.515-2.675GHz of 5G.

In this paper, a band-pass plasmonic filter based on Metal-Insulator-Metal (MIM) waveguides and its modified structures are designed and investigated theoretically and numerically. The filter consists of two circular ring resonator and its modified structures which has narrow gaps in the middle of resonant rings. To study their performance in different structures, propagation modes of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are investigated. In outer gapped model, we found that the transmission in different resonant modes can be effectively tuned by varying the gap width, and the transmission peak wavelength is nonlinear with the gap width. The results are obtained by high-order symplectic FDTD (SFDTD) algorithm which is non-dissipative and has low dispersion error. The structure with double gaps in both external and internal rings have potential applications in plasmonic integrated circuits, because of its characteristic of a single narrow band-pass with high transmittance. The introduced structures may provide a novel method for the design of devices in highly integrated optical circuits.

As the deadliest form of pollution, air pollution had a prolonged severe damage to the human health and life safety of nearly 99% of the world's population. Facing to the problem that billions of tons of pollutants discharged into the air per year by industrial activities, this paper proposed a novel image-based air pollution monitor (IAPM) by incorporating local and global information in the self-adaptive multiscale transform domain, so as to achieve the timely and effective leakage detection of typical air pollutants from a single image. To be specific, this paper first developed a screen-shaped module according to two significant findings in visual neuroscience, which include the high sensitivity of human eyes to horizontal and vertical stimuli and the center-surround inhibition, by designing and fusing the square module, horizontal strip module and vertical strip module parallelly for simulating the behaviour of human eyes to extract local features. Second, the learnable weights and proportional mapping were applied to incorporate the screen-shaped module and lightweight vision transformer as backbone, towards more richly exploiting and fusing local and global information just as the way a brain perceives external stimuli. Third, a new self-adaptive multiscale transform domain method was devised based on two motivations from the visual characteristics of multiscale perception and the brain characteristics of self-adaptive domain transform to modify the backbone by using the operations of pooling and pointwise convolution. Extensive experiments implemented on the datasets of carbon particulate matters and ethylene leakage confirmed the superior monitoring performance of the proposed IAPM model beyond the state-of-the-art (SOTA) peers by an accuracy gain of about 4%. Furthermore, the proposed IAPM model only required 0.089 GFLOPs and 0.15 million model parameters, remarkably outperforming SOTA competitors in computational efficiency and storage resources. © 1999-2

Nonreciprocal transmission of structured light has possible applications in high-capacity optical communication and high-dimensional signal processing. Here, we demonstrate the magnet-free and cavity-free optical nonreciprocity of an orbital-angular-momentum (OAM) beam using optical-pumping technology with the assistance of the Doppler effect in hot atoms. By using optical pumping to induce a direction-dependent population transfer of the ground-state atoms, we realize optical nonreciprocity for the signal laser that is carrying OAM. Interestingly, an isolation ratio close to 30 dB and maximum transmission over 0.86 can be achieved simultaneously without the use of an optical cavity. Due to the unique amplitude and helical phase profile of the structured light, our proposal may open an avenue for exploring the singularity characteristics of optical nonreciprocity using structured light.

Full-Reference (FR) image quality assessment (IQA) (FR-IQA) has achieved notable success due to its irreplaceable role in algorithm and system optimization;however, it has less been investigated in omnidirectional image quality assessment (OIQA). In this paper, we make an attempt to FR-OIQA considering the constraint of the computation budget, in which this issue is formulated as "quality perception from patch to sequence", i.e., Intra-Patch Sequence degradation modeling and Inter-Patch Sequence similarity calculation (denoted by IPS2). Specifically, IPS2 directly accepts local patches from the omnidirectional image (OI) in the format of Equirectangular Projection as input, avoiding other preprocessing operations, such as scan-path prediction and projection transformation. Subsequently, IPS2 uses a deep feature extractor to capture patch quality and then sends the patch- wise quality maps to the cross-patch similarity (CPS) module, which explicitly models intra-patch sequence degradation and inter-patch sequence similarity via self-attention. Finally, a quality regressor is used to aggregate these features of the CPS module and predict the global quality of the OI. The experimental results on a large-scale OIQA database show that the proposed IPS2 outperforms most state-of-the-art methods in quality prediction accuracy while offering substantial reductions in computational cost and model size. © 1994-2012 IEEE.

In recent years, microfluidic biochips have been widely applied in various fields of human society. The emergence of distributed channel-storage architecture enables fluid to be directly cached within the flow channels without being transported to the dedicated storage. However, the volume of the flow channels is limited, it is important to carefully consider the fluid volume to be cached to ensure it can be accommodated within the appropriate flow channels. In this paper, we propose a high-level synthesis method considering actual volume management and channel storage through integer linear programming, providing a rational analysis of fluid caching and the temporal relationships between different fluid-handling tasks. Experimental results conducted on multiple benchmark tests demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in reducing the completion time of bioassay, the number of caches, the maximum fluid caching volume, and the number of fluid-handling tasks.

A prohibited items identification approach based on semantic segmentation

Deep learning(DL) based semantic segmentation methods can extract object information including category, location and shape. In this paper, the identification of prohibited items is regarded as a task of semantic segmentation, and proposes a universal model with automatic identification of prohibited items. This model has two improvements based on the general semantic segmentation network. Firstly, the N-type encoding structure is applied to enlarge the receptive field of the network aiming at reducing the misclassification. Secondly, consider the lack of surface texture in X-ray security images. Inspired by feature reuse in Densenet, shallow semantic information is reused to improve the segmentation accuracy. With the use of this model, when using input images of size 512× 512, we could achieve 0.783 mean intersection over union(m Io U) for a seven-class object recognition problem.
