Mobile Edge computing (MEC) offers low-latency and high-bandwidth support for Internet-of-Vehicles (IoV) applications. However, due to high vehicle mobility and finite communication coverage of base stations, it is hard to maintain uninterrupted and high-quality services without proper service migration among MEC servers. Existing solutions commonly rely on prior knowledge and rarely consider efficient resource allocation during the service migration process, making it hard to reach optimal performance in dynamic IoV environments. To address these important challenges, we propose SR-CL, a novel mobility-aware seamless Service migration and Resource allocation framework via Convex-optimization-enabled deep reinforcement Learning in multi-edge IoV systems. First, we decouple the Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) problem of service migration and resource allocation into two sub-problems. Next, we design a new actor-critic-based asynchronous-update deep reinforcement learning method to handle service migration, where the delayed-update actor makes migration decisions and the one-step-update critic evaluates the decisions to guide the policy update. Notably, we theoretically derive the optimal resource allocation with convex optimization for each MEC server, thereby further improving system performance. Using the real-world datasets of vehicle trajectories and testbed, extensive experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed SR-CL. Compared to benchmark methods, the SR-CL achieves superior convergence and delay performance under various scenarios. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Multi-interactive dual-decoder for RGB-thermal salient object detection

RGB-thermal salient object detection (SOD) aims to segment the common prominent regions of visible image and corresponding thermal infrared image that we call it RGBT SOD. Existing methods don’t fully explore and exploit the potentials of complementarity of different modalities and multi-type cues of image contents, which play a vital role in achieving accurate results. In this paper, we propose a multi-interactive dual-decoder to mine and model the multi-type interactions for accurate RGBT SOD. In specific, we first encode two modalities into multi-level multi-modal feature representations. Then, we design a novel dual-decoder to conduct the interactions of multi-level features, two modalities and global contexts. With these interactions, our method works well in diversely challenging scenarios even in the presence of invalid modality. Finally, we carry out extensive experiments on public RGBT and RGBD SOD datasets, and the results show that the proposed method achieves the outstanding performance against state-of-the-art algorithms. In order to meet the requirements of the navigation system for antennas with wide 3-dB AR beam-width, this paper proposes an axial-ratio beam-width enhancement of antenna based on electromagnetic bandgap (EBG). The effect of surface wave on the circular polarization of the antenna is suppressed by loading two layers of mushroom-like EBG unit cells around the patch. The loading of the EBG increases the 3-dB AR beam-width of the antenna by 78% in the xoz plane and the by 84% in the yoz plane, the simulation and test results demonstrate the effectiveness of this method.

The feasibility of an antenna-in-package (AiP) concept is demonstrated for automotive radar sensors at the 77 GHz-band. RGB and thermal source data suffer from both shared and specific challenges, and how to explore and exploit them plays a critical role to represent the target appearance in RGBT tracking. In this paper, we propose a novel challenge-aware neural network to handle the modality-shared challenges (e.g., fast motion, scale variation and occlusion) and the modality-specific ones (e.g., illumination variation and thermal crossover) for RGBT tracking. In particular, we design several parameter-shared branches in each layer to model the target appearance under the modality-shared challenges, and several parameter-independent branches under the modality-specific ones. Based on the observation that the modality-specific cues of different modalities usually contains the complementary advantages, we propose a guidance module to transfer discriminative features from one modality to another one, which could enhance the discriminative ability of some weak modality. Moreover, all branches are aggregated together in an adaptive manner and parallel embedded in the backbone network to efficiently form more discriminative target representations. These challenge-aware branches are able to model the target appearance under certain challenges so that the target representations can be learnt by a few parameters even in the situation of insufficient training data. From the experimental results we will show that our method operates at a real-time speed while performing well against the state-of-the-art methods on three benchmark datasets. Synaptic learning with augmented spikes

Traditional neuron models use analog values for information representation and computation, while all-or-nothing spikes are employed in the spiking ones. With a more brain-like processing paradigm, spiking neurons are more promising for improvements on efficiency and computational capability. They extend the computation of traditional neurons with an additional dimension of time carried by all-or-nothing spikes. Could one benefit from both the accuracy of analog values and the time-processing capability of spikes? In this paper, we introduce a concept of augmented spikes to carry complementary information with spike coefficients in addition to spike latencies. New augmented spiking neuron model and synaptic learning rules are proposed to process and learn patterns of augmented spikes. We provide systematic insight into the properties and characteristics of our methods, including classification of augmented spike patterns, learning capacity, construction of causality, feature detection, robustness and applicability to practical tasks such as acoustic and visual pattern recognition. The remarkable results highlight the effectiveness and potential merits of our methods. Importantly, our augmented approaches are versatile and can be easily generalized to other spike-based systems, contributing to a potential development for them including neuromorphic computing. Although image matching techniques have been developed in the last decades, automatic optical-synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image matching is still a challenging task due to significant nonlinear intensity differences between such images. In this paper, a new method of coarse-to-fine heterogeneous image matching based on contour features is proposed. After images preprocessing, a Canny operator is used to extract open-loop contour features, and the angle feature of local feature points is used to complete coarse matching. Finally, constructing contour tree descriptors of coarse matching pairs, and calculating the contour distance is proposed to obtain the fine matching result. The experimental results show the effectiveness and robustness of this method.

This paper proposes a dual-band antenna based on the electromagnetic band gap structure suitable for WLAN communication systems. The proposed antenna is designed to work at 2.45/5.8 GHz WLAN band. By loading the EBG structure directly below a dual-frequency monopole antenna, the in-phase superposition of electromagnetic waves at the center frequency of the antenna is achieved. The antenna exhibits high gains of near 8.0 and 12.0 dB at the low and high working frequencies while maintaining the low profile characteristics.

A low-profile circularly polarized Metasurfaces antenna based on compact coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed was proposed. The Metasurfaces consists of 16 periodic square-cut metal patches. An hourglass coupled slot was adopted to achieve broadband impedance matching. The antenna has a simple structure and a low cross section, and it can be implemented by a layer of a printed circuit substrate. A circular polarized wave is generated by changing the size of the cut angle of the Metasurfaces, and at the same time, the impedance bandwidth can be widened. To verify the simulation results, a 1λ 0 ×1λ 0 ×0.05λ 0 (at 10 GHz) model antenna was fabricated and measured. The simulation and measurement results show good consistency. The test results show that the -10dB return loss bandwidth reaches 45.3 %, and the circular polarization axis ratio(AR) is less than 3dB with a bandwidth of 18.5%.

A hybrid twelve-antenna array operating in the 3.3-3.6 GHz and 4.8-5.0 GHz band for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) applications in 5G smartphones is proposed. The proposed hybrid antenna array elements are symmetrically placed along the long edges of the smartphone, and they are composed of two inverted-F antennas (IFA) with different structural parameters. Simulated antenna isolation is better than -14.5 dB without any decoupling structures. Moreover, simulated radiation patterns, antenna efficiencies, and envelop correlation coefficients are also given in the paper.
