Scribble supervised salient object detection (SSSOD) constructs segmentation ability of attractive objects from surroundings under the supervision of sparse scribble labels. For the better segmentation, depth and thermal infrared modalities serve as the supplement to RGB images in the complex scenes. Existing methods specifically design various feature extraction and multi-modal fusion strategies for RGB, RGB-Depth, RGB-Thermal, and Visual-Depth-Thermal image input respectively, leading to similar model flood. As the recently proposed Segment Anything Model (SAM) possesses extraordinary segmentation and prompt interactive capability, we propose an SSSOD family based on SAM, named SSFam, for the combination input with different modalities. Firstly, different modal-aware modulators are designed to attain modal-specific knowledge which cooperates with modal-agnostic information extracted from the frozen SAM encoder for the better feature ensemble. Secondly, a siamese decoder is tailored to bridge the gap between the training with scribble prompt and the testing with no prompt for the stronger decoding ability. Our model demonstrates the remarkable performance among combinations of different modalities and refreshes the highest level of scribble supervised methods and comes close to the ones of fully supervised methods. https://***/liuzywen/SSFam Copyright © 2024, The Authors. One-Shot Heterogeneous Federated Learning with Local Model-Guided Diffusion Models

In recent years, One-shot Federated Learning (OSFL) methods based on Diffusion Models (DMs) have garnered increasing attention due to their remarkable performance. However, most of these methods require the deployment of foundation models on client devices, which significantly raises the computational requirements and reduces their adaptability to heterogeneous client models compared to traditional FL methods. In this paper, we propose FedLMG, a heterogeneous one-shot Federated learning method with Local Model-Guided diffusion models. Briefly speaking, in FedLMG, clients do not need access to any foundation models but only train and upload their local models, which is consistent with traditional FL methods. On the clients, we employ classification loss and BN loss to capture the broad category features and detailed contextual features of the client distributions. On the server, based on the uploaded client models, we utilize backpropagation to guide the server’s DM in generating synthetic datasets that comply with the client distributions, which are then used to train the aggregated model. By using the locally trained client models as a medium to transfer client knowledge, our method significantly reduces the computational requirements on client devices and effectively adapts to scenarios with heterogeneous clients. Extensive quantitation and visualization experiments on three large-scale real-world datasets, along with theoretical analysis, demonstrate that the synthetic datasets generated by FedLMG exhibit comparable quality and diversity to the client datasets, which leads to an aggregated model that outperforms all compared methods and even the performance ceiling, further elucidating the significant potential of utilizing DMs in FL. Inspired by artificial immune system, negative survey is a cost-effective privacy protection method for multiple choice question-answering with the advantage of decentralization. Present reconstruction methods for negative surveys can obtain positive survey without negative values and achieve high efficiency, but one important assumption is each negative category owns an equal chance of being selected. However, there are many situations where each negative category is selected with predefined probability. In this case, the current methods are difficult to reconstruct positive surveys. In this paper, we propose to extend current reconstruction methods to estimate positive surveys from negative surveys, in which each negative category is selected with any given probability. Our new method is to construct a system of contradictory equations and find the nonnegative least square solutions. We show that in many cases, can not only obtain positive survey without negative values, but also suitable for single choice negative survey in which each negative category is selected with any given probability. Experimental results show that this effective method can return non-negative values and have a smaller squared error. © 2022 IEEE.

In order to achieve more efficient and accurate DDoS detection while ensuring data privacy, this paper proposes a DDoS detection method based on FLAD. Firstly, this paper uses the FLAD algorithm to train a global DDoS detection model without leaving local traffic data, protecting the privacy and security of traffic data between different hosts, and improving aggregation efficiency by dynamically adjusting the aggregation weights to adapt to different sub-dataset increments. Secondly, a DDoS traffic detection method based on the integration of LSTM and CNN is proposed, which extracts and analyzes the temporal correlation of traffic data by calculating the statistical characteristics of traffic data within a time period, to achieve real-time detection of traffic feature data. Again, combined with the concept of SDN, real-time defense against DDoS based on ODL-API is implemented, and precise matching of DDoS detection results with network entity information is achieved, realizing the technology of real-time and precise issuance of multiple flow rules, effectively blocking DDoS malicious attack traffic, protecting important entities in the topology, and maintaining stable traffic in the topology. This paper focuses on solving the detection problem of DDoS traffic data increments and uneven data distribution through the FLAD algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves the accuracy of DDoS attack detection by more than 4% and the F1 Score by more than 7% compared to the FedAvg aggregation algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

We propose the antenna developments from nature to engineering, which is a natural method to train student for designing antenna. Also, the interest of the students can be stimulated. Using this method, the students can get how to design antennas and will be interested on the antenna engineering. Then, young talents can be brought up. By using this strategy, a nature Logo is introduced and cooperated with the proposed talent training method to get new antennas. Also, the results for the developed antenna is also simulated and analyzed based on the theory from the text book. In the future, the proposed talents training techniques or method can also be expanded to other different research directions. © 2022 IEEE.

Context-Aware Iteration Policy Network for Efficient Optical Flow Estimation

Existing recurrent optical flow estimation networks are computationally expensive since they use a fixed large number of iterations to update the flow field for each sample. An efficient network should skip iterations when the flow improvement is limited. In this paper, we develop a Context-Aware Iteration Policy Network for efficient optical flow estimation, which determines the optimal number of iterations per sample. The policy network achieves this by learning contextual information to realize whether flow improvement is bottlenecked or minimal. On the one hand, we use iteration embedding and historical hidden cell, which include previous iterations information, to convey how flow has changed from previous iterations. On the other hand, we use the incremental loss to make the policy network implicitly perceive the magnitude of optical flow improvement in the subsequent iteration. Furthermore, the computational complexity in our dynamic network is controllable, allowing us to satisfy various resource preferences with a single trained model. Our policy network can be easily integrated into state-of-the-art optical flow networks. Extensive experiments show that our method maintains performance while reducing FLOPs by about 40%/20% for the Sintel/KITTI datasets. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Low-latency Space-time Supersampling for Real-time Rendering

With the rise of real-time rendering and the evolution of display devices, there is a growing demand for post-processing methods that offer high-resolution content in a high frame rate. Existing techniques often suffer from quality and latency issues due to the disjointed treatment of frame supersampling and extrapolation. In this paper, we recognize the shared context and mechanisms between frame supersampling and extrapolation, and present a novel framework, Space-time Supersampling (STSS). By integrating them into a unified framework, STSS can improve the overall quality with lower latency. To implement an efficient architecture, we treat the aliasing and warping holes unified as reshading regions and put forth two key components to compensate the regions, namely Random Reshading Masking (RRM) and Efficient Reshading Module (ERM). Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach achieves superior visual fidelity compared to state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods. Notably, the performance is achieved within only 4ms, saving up to 75% of time against the conventional two-stage pipeline that necessitates 17ms. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we design an algorithm to address the challenges of expensive multi-objective optimization problems by improving the surrogate model and sampling criterion. Firstly, we introduce a combined model which aims to enhance the impact of points that do not play a negative role, thus improving prediction accuracy. Subsequently, we develop two complementary indicators to accommodate various shapes of Pareto frontiers to better balance convergence and diversity in the sampling criterion. Experimental results on several benchmarks show that our proposed method is highly competitive in solving expensive multi-objective optimization problems compared to other state-of-the-art algorithms. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.
