A Sparsity Knowledge Transfer-Based Evolutionary Algorithm for Large-Scale Multitasking Multi-Objective Optimization

Multitasking multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MMEAs) have been extensively studied in the past decade, which mainly concentrate on multitasking multi-objective optimization problems (MMOPs) with dozens of decision variables. Nevertheless, many real-world MMOPs have thousands of decision variables and are of sparse nature, which are regarded as large-scale MMOPs (LSMMOPs) in this study. To address LSMMOPs, a sparsity knowledge transfer-based evolutionary multi-objective algorithm, termed EMO-SKT, is proposed for efficiently finding high-quality sparse solutions of LSMMOPs. For each target optimization task, a sparsity knowledge transfer strategy extracts sparse distribution information from a source task and incorporates the information into the target task for two types of sparsity knowledge: variable importance and sparse degree. The variable importance is utilized to produce high-quality sparse solutions during the evolutionary search for EMO-SKT, while the sparse degree facilitates the reduction of search space and thus speeds up the convergence of the evolutionary search. Experimental results on eight benchmark problems and six practical LSMMOPs demonstrate the effectiveness of the sparsity knowledge transfer strategy. Furthermore, the proposed EMO-SKT is capable of efficiently finding high-quality sparse solutions on an LSMMOP with over 1000 decision variables. In comparison with five state-of-the-art multitasking or sparse optimization algorithms, the proposed EMO-SKT exhibits superior performance in terms of both solution quality and search efficiency. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

In order to provide sufficient reaction time for air traffic controllers and pilots, a Flight Conflict Detection Algorithm (FCDA) based on Cylindrical Protection Zone (CPZ) in the Conformal Geometric Algebra (CGA) is proposed. Initially, the CGA description of the CPZ is represented by using the CGA forms of the central circle and central axis segments of the cylinder. Then based on the inner and outer product and geometric product operations of CGA, the positional relationship of the two CPZs is judged to determine whether a flight conflict occurs or not. Subsequently, we compared the performance of flight conflict detection methods based on rectangular protection zones, spherical protection zones, and cylindrical protection zones through experiments in CGA and Euclidean space, respectively, the experimental results show that in CGA, the proposed method has a faster speed than the flight conflict method based on cuboids, and is basically equivalent to the method based on spherical protection zones. Significantly, all CGA-based methodologies demonstrated superior speed over their Euclidean space counterparts. Considering the propensity of rectangular and spherical zones to elicit false alarms due to their expansive coverage of airspace, the CGA-CPZ-FCDA method emerges as the superior choice.

Multi-scale Cascaded Large-Model for Whole-body ROI Segmentation

Organs-at-risk segmentation is critical for ensuring the safety and precision of radiotherapy and surgical procedures. However, existing methods for organs-at-risk image segmentation often suffer from uncertainties and biases in target selection, as well as insufficient model validation experiments, limiting their generality and reliability in practical applications. To address these issues, we propose an innovative cascaded network architecture called the Multi-scale Cascaded Fusing Network (MCFNet), which effectively captures complex multi-scale and multi-resolution features. MCFNet includes a Sharp Extraction Backbone and a Flexible Connection Backbone, which respectively enhance feature extraction in the downsampling and skip-connection stages. This design not only improves segmentation accuracy but also ensures computational efficiency, enabling precise detail capture even in low-resolution images. We conduct experiments using the A6000 GPU on diverse datasets from 671 patients, including 36,131 image-mask pairs across 10 different datasets. MCFNet demonstrates strong robustness, performing consistently well across 10 datasets. Additionally, MCFNet exhibits excellent generalizability, maintaining high accuracy in different clinical scenarios. We also introduce an adaptive loss aggregation strategy to further optimize the model training process, improving both segmentation accuracy and efficiency. Through extensive validation, MCFNet demonstrates superior performance compared to existing methods, providing more reliable image-guided support. Our solution aims to significantly improve the precision and safety of radiotherapy and surgical procedures, advancing personalized treatment. In addressing the issue of localizing near-field source signals in the presence of impulse noise, this manuscript introduces a novel de-impact function designed for preprocessing received signals to alleviate the interference caused by impulse noise. Simulation experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed de-impact function in effectively suppressing impulse noise. Furthermore, to augment estimation precision, a novel algorithm for near-field source localization is proposed. Building upon the framework of correlation entropy theory, a new correntropy covariance matrix is formulated to replace the original signal covariance matrix for signal processing. Through a succession of low-bias approximations between near-field and far-field scenarios, the algorithm converts the original 2-D search into 1-D operations. Additionally, the conventional spectral peak search is replaced by polynomial solving to further mitigate the computational complexity of the algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

To improve the safety and efficiency of aviation operation, a Kalman filtered trajectory prediction algorithm based on geometric algebra is proposed in this space. Firstly, the Kalman filter equations for trajectory prediction in geometric algebraic space are given by taking position, velocity and acceleration as state variables and position, velocity and acceleration in a typical trajectory as observations. Secondly, the matrix operation in the geometric algebraic space is simplified to the matrix operation by establishing a composite geometric algebraic space. Then, the versor operator in the conformal geometric algebraic space is introduced into the Kalman filter, and the steps of geometric algebra-based Kalman filter trajectory prediction are given to improve the prediction rate and accuracy. The experimental results show that the proposed trajectory prediction algorithm has the highest accuracy and the operation efficiency is improved by 27.66 % compared with the Kalman filter algorithm in Euclidean space and the DBSCAN clustering algorithm.

To achieve high precision direction-of-arrival estimation of MIMO arrays in highly coupled environments, based on the difference and cooperative array principles, the uniform array fitted with 5 base layer array and the uniform array fitted with 6 base layer array were used as transmitting arrays, and with the addition of 1 base layer layer sparse array as receiving array, two sparse multi-in multiple-out arrays were designed for single-base radar, which have the characteristics of low coupling of transmitting array and high freedom of receiving array. © 2024 IEEE.

Sequences with low/zero ambiguity zone (LAZ/ZAZ) properties are useful in modern communication and radar systems operating over mobile environments. This paper first presents a new family of ZAZ sequence sets motivated by the "modulating" zero correlation zone (ZCZ) sequences which were first proposed by Popovic and Mauritz. We then introduce a second family of ZAZ sequence sets with comb-like spectrum, whereby the local Doppler resilience is guaranteed by their inherent spectral nulls in the frequency domain. Finally, LAZ sequence sets are obtained by exploiting their connection with a novel class of mapping functions. These proposed unimodular ZAZ and LAZ sequence sets are cyclically distinct and asymptotically optimal with respect to the existing theoretical bounds on ambiguity functions. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In order to solve the problem that traditional sparse arrays only emphasize high degrees of freedom and ignore low coupling, uniform array fitting method can design arrays with low coupling. However, the existing array coupling based on uniform array fitting method still has room for decline, and the value of weight function is not the minimum, so the performance of array DOA estimation needs to be further optimized. Therefore, based on the uniform matrix fitting method, a uniform matrix fitting 6-base-layer array is designed. By extending the spacing of each subarray of the uniform subarray in the base layer, the number of small array element spacing pairs in the differential cooperative array is reduced, and the coupling between the elements of the whole sparse array is reduced as a whole. The performance of DOA estimation of the designed array is simulated and analyzed by using spatial smoothing multiple signal classification algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

A double-layer stacked patch filtering antenna with broadband circular polarization performance is proposed in this paper. The main patch consists of a corner-Truncated square patch with two shorting pins. The designed two shorting pins are located in the main patch and the upper stacked patch structure are introduced and designed, which can gain two radiation nulls for realizing the filtering effect of the proposed antenna. The circularly polarized (CP) operation is realized by corner-Truncated square patch. In addition, to increase the axial ratio (AR) bandwidth, a rectangular slot is carved on the ground plane. The simulated results indicate that the researched antenna can provide the impedance bandwidth of 20.58% (2.68-3.29 GHz) and AR bandwidth of 9.5% (2.80-3.08 GHz). Moreover, The average realized gain of the simulation is 6.48 dBic over bandwidth. © 2024 IEEE.

Fourier Ptychography Microscopy with Multi-Height Illumination Based on Energy Threshold Pre-Search

Fourier ptychography microscopy (FPM) technology combines the concepts of synthetic aperture imaging, ptychography, and phase retrieval to address the contradiction between the large field of view and high resolution in traditional microscopy, and can achieve high-resolution amplitude and phase images with a large field of view. However, for most samples, the primary information is concentrated in the low-frequency region, and traditional single-height FPM may suffer from insufficient sampling, leading to low reconstruction accuracy. In addition, the reconstruction process typically requires a large number of low-resolution images, which also significantly reduces the reconstruction efficiency. To overcome these issues, this paper proposes a form of FPM with multi-height illumination based on an energy threshold pre-search. This method simply involves moving the LED array to three planes for multi-height sample illumination on the traditional FPM hardware, thus improving the sampling conditions and enhancing the reconstruction accuracy. The low-resolution images acquired in this way are then screened using an energy threshold method to select images with higher energy, and a phase retrieval method is employed to reconstruct high-resolution complex amplitude images. The results of simulations and experiments demonstrate that compared to traditional methods, our approach not only improves the reconstruction accuracy but also reduces the number of low-resolution images by at least approximately 60%, thereby significantly enhancing the reconstruction efficiency. © 2024, The Authors.
