Due to their low cost, easy deployment, and high flexibility, unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV) have become widely utilized for various data collection tasks across different fields. In particular, virtual service providers(VSP) recruit UAVs to collect data in their regions of interest(ROI), and leverage this data to offer a range of services, such as metaverse, traffic management, etc. To attract UAV owners to participate in the recruitment activities, VSP need to provide participating users with payments as rewards to motivate their participation. However, the recruitment demands of different VSPs for UAVs can vary significantly. For instance, time-sensitive tasks require timely recruitment of sufficient UAVs to ensure prompt completion of data collection tasks, necessitating higher payments to increase user enthusiasm. Conversely, in other types of tasks, the VSP’s objective might be to maximize its own utility. However, designing a general incentive mechanism for VSPs with different tasks that satisfies incentive compatibility(IC) and individual rationality(IR) to address the issues of UAV task allocation and payment is challenging. If VSP offer insufficient payments to users, it will be difficult to attract enough users to share their UAVs;conversely, offering excessive payments to users will harm the VSP’ profits. To address this problem, we propose a utility-adjustable reverse auction mechanism based on reverse Vickrey-Clarke-Groves(VCG) auction and affine maximizer auction(AMA) theory to cope with different task scenarios. This incentive mechanism can maximize social welfare while flexibly adjusting the utility allocation between VSP and users, ensuring non-negative utility for both parties. Experimental results show that the mechanism has excellent performance. © IFIP International Federation for information processing 2025.

DE-Unet: Dual-encoder U-Net for Ultra-high Resolution Remote Sensing Image Segmentation

In recent years, there has been a growing demand for remote sensing image semantic segmentation in various applications. The key to semantic segmentation lies in the ability to globally comprehend the input image. While recent transformer-based methods can effectively capture global contextual information, they suffer from high computational complexity, particularly when it comes to ultra-high resolution (UHR) remote sensing images, it is even more challenging for these methods to achieve a satisfactory balance between accuracy and computation speed. To address these issues, we propose in this paper a CNN-based dual-encoder U-Net for effective and efficient UHR image segmentation. Our method incorporates dual encoders into the symmetrical framework of U-Net. The dual encoders endow the network with strong global and local perception capabilities simultaneously, while the U-Net's symmetrical structure guarantees the network's robust decoding ability. Additionally, multi-path skip connections ensure ample information exchange between the dual encoders, as well as between the encoders and decoders. Furthermore, we proposes a context-aware modulation fusion module that guides the encoder-encoder and encoder-decoder data fusion through global receptive fields. Experiments conducted on public UHR remote sensing datasets such as the Inria Aerial and DeepGlobe have demonstrated the effectiveness of proposed method. Specifically on the Inria Aerial dataset, our method achieves a 77.42% mIoU which outperforms the baseline [1] by 3.14% while maintaining comparable inference speed. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

A Novel Optimal Distributed Nonlinear Filter for Simultaneous State and Unknown Input Estimation in Multi-Sensor Networks

This letter investigates the problem of simultaneous state and unknown input estimation in a nonlinear system within multi-sensor networks. To avoid the linearization errors caused by existing methods, such as statistical linear regression techniques and first-order Taylor approximation, a novel optimal distributed nonlinear filter is proposed based on the unscented transformation and unbiased minimum variance criterion. First, the unscented transformation is applied to generate predicted estimates and the covariance matrix. Second, input and state estimation are carried out in an unbiased minimum variance manner using measurements from the nonlinear system. Third, a distributed strategy leveraging average consensus is employed to incorporate local estimates from neighboring sensors. Finally, simulation results confirm that the proposed method achieves substantial improvements in estimation accuracy compared to existing methods. © 1994-2012 IEEE.

Space-time video super-resolution aims to simultaneously increase the space-time resolution of low-resolution and low frame-rate videos. Existing deep learning-based methods have made notable strides, predominantly achieving space-time video super-resolution through the relatively simple integration of modules for video super-resolution and video frame interpolation sub-tasks. However, these methods typically do not fully exploit the inherent relationships between the two sub-tasks. To address this limitation, we propose a Complementary Dual-Branch Network designed to better explore the interdependence of the two sub-tasks. Specifically, our dual-branch architecture facilitates mutual enhancement between video super-resolution and video frame interpolation sub-tasks within each branch and provides mutual guidance between the two branches. Additionally, we introduce a simple yet effective strategy for the rough estimation of optical flow, incorporating Flow-Guided Deformable Alignment into space-time video super-resolution to achieve precise motion estimation. In addition, we use an RNN-based Backward and Forward Recurrent module to ensure that all frames can utilize the information of the whole sequence. It is more efficient and memory saving compared to the currently popular bidirectional LSTM module. Experimental results on several datasets show that our method achieves superior accuracy and requires fewer parameters compared to state-of-the-art methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In this paper, an uncertain nonlinear switched system with V-n jumps, characterized by its sensitivity to subjective uncertainties, is modeled using uncertain differential equations with V-n jumps. To account for the discontinuous jump behavior in each subsystem, a V-n jumps process associated with an uncertain Z-n jumps variable, defined by a jump uncertainty distribution, is introduced. Under the assumptions of linear growth and Lipschitz conditions, an existence and uniqueness theorem for the solutions of uncertain nonlinear switched systems with V-n jumps is established and rigorously proven. An illustrative example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability of the theoretical results. © 2025, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

Global contextual dependency is of significance for semantic segmentation from light fields. However, previous works mostly exploit attention mechanisms to model spatial context dependency and angular context dependency separately, since a light field capture is very data-intensive. Considering that self-attention is resource-consuming, existing methods only use it to capture spatial contextual dependency for the central view of light fields, and employ resource-efficient attention mechanisms to model angular view dependencies instead. Inspired by the recent success of State Space Sequence model (SSM), we present a novel SSM-based encoder for light field semantic segmentation, which models spatio-angular contextual dependency together. The proposed method is evaluated on the existing light field semantic segmentation datasets, and experimental results show that the proposed method significantly outperforms previous state-of-the-art methods. This paper solves the event-triggered robust consensus problem of disturbed multi-agent systems (MASs) in fully distributed fashion. First, a distributed extended state observer (DESO) is developed for appropriately estimating system states and external disturbances. Then, by utilising these estimates, a fully distributed event-triggering control protocol, that composes of an adaptive distributed controller to avoid using global information while maintaining desired consensus property, and a novel hybrid dynamic event-triggering mechanism (ETM) to save communication resources, is put forward for the MASs. It is notable that an auxiliary differential equation is incorporated in the triggering condition, with which, positive minimum interevent times (MIETs) are available to ease the hardware implementation, while being with adaptive coefficients, the proposed hybrid dynamic ETM can be independent of any global information. Finally, the obtained main results are testified via a numerical example. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

– Prediction of electromagnetic fields scattered from objects is of great significance in various fields. Traditional computational electromagnetic solvers, which are mesh-based, are expensive and time-consuming. The deep learning technique becomes an alternative method of the prediction of scattered fields with high efficiency. However, the data-driven deep learning method requires a large data set and lacks robustness. For complicated scattering problems, the construction of a large training data set is a hard task. By considering physics-constraints, physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) can solve the partial differential equation (PDE) problem with a small data set and also provide a physical explanation. In this paper, the PINNs are employed to solve the scattering of a plane wave by a three-dimensional object with Maxwell’s equations being physical constraints. In the calculation, a sphere and an ellipsoid are taken as examples, and the effects of the network parameters (including the number of hidden layers, and the number of data sets) are mainly discussed. The results have practical applications in many fields such as radar detection, biomedical imaging, and satellite navigation. © ACES.

Noise-tolerant fixed-time leader-follower consensus controller design for multi-agent systems via fuzzy-neural-network

The leader-follower consensus control problem in multi-agent systems (MASs) is critical and has received significant attention. However, the simultaneous achievement of fixed-time stability and robustness is often challenging in MASs due to their inherent complexity and uncertainty. This paper developed a controller based on the proposed noise-tolerant fixed-time fuzzy neural network (NF-FNN) model to realize the leader-follower consensus of MASs. Specifically, the introduction of an integral error term makes the NF-FNN model have powerful noise tolerance, and a fuzzy gain parameter generated by the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy logic system makes the NF-FNN model have fuzzy adaptiveness. In addition, a new partition-sign-by-power activation function is developed to ensure fixed-time stability of the NF-FNN model. Theoretical analysis and comparative simulations confirm the superb swift stability and excellent noise tolerance of controllers based on the NF-FNN model for achieving the leader-follower consensus of MASs, as compared with existing methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.
