Drug-drug interactions (DDIs) refer to the synergistic or antagonistic effects between different drugs. Synergistic effects can enhance therapeutic efficacy, while antagonistic effects may reduce efficacy or even trigger adverse reactions, worsening the patient's condition. Most existing DDI prediction studies overlook the features of chemical bonds between atoms within drug molecules and the interaction types between drug pairs, which to some extent limits the accuracy and reliability of the predictions. In view of this, we have designed a novel framework called KGE-DDI, which leverages knowledge graph embedding (KGE) technology to enhance the prediction of DDIs. Specifically, for individual drug molecules, KGE-DDI first integrates the features of atoms and chemical bond. Then, by introducing attention mechanisms and graph neural network technology, it learns representations of the drug molecules. For pairs of drug molecules, KGE-DDI models their interactions utilizing atom-level Pearson correlation matrices. Finally, it predicts the interactions between drug pairs by employing our designed scoring function. We conducted comprehensive experiments under both transductive and inductive settings, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of KGE-DDI in three scenarios: (existing drug, existing drug), (new drug, new drug), and (new drug, existing drug). © 2024 IEEE.

Aiming at the problem that reprojection error (RE) cannot reflect the camera calibration accuracy intuitively, this paper proposes a method to verify the camera calibration results in world coordinate system. Firstly, the checkerboard calibration target is photographed with the camera under test, and the internal parameters and distortion parameters of the camera are calculated by using the pinhole model and the Kannala-Brandt (KB) fisheye model, respectively. Then, the same camera is used to shoot two targets in the field of view (FOV), and the pixel coordinates of the two target points are detected from the image. Thirdly, the inverse projection model is used to calculate the distance between the two objects and the angle between the camera and the two objects, and the real distance and angle are compared. The experimental results show that the average distance errors of the pinhole model and the KB fisheye model are 0.34% and 0.35%, respectively, and the angle errors are 0.40% and 0.12%, respectively, which proves that the verification method can effectively characterize the calibration accuracy of the camera. © 2023 IEEE.

Pedestrian trajectory prediction as an essential part of reasoning human motion behaviors, has been deployed in a number of vision applications, such as autonomous navigation and video surveillance. Most existing methods adopt autoregressive frameworks to forecast the future trajectory, where the trajectory is iteratively generated based on the previous outputs. Such a process will suffer from large accumulated errors over the long-term forecast horizon. To address this issue, in this paper, we propose a Synchronous Bi-Directional framework (SBD) with error compensation for pedestrian trajectory prediction, which can greatly alleviate the error accumulation during prediction. Specifically, we first develop a bi-directional trajectory prediction mechanism, and force the predicting procedures for two opposite directions to be synchronous through a shared motion characteristic. Different from previous works, the mutual constraints inherent to our framework from the synchronous opposite-predictions can significantly prevent the error accumulation. In order to reduce the possible prediction error in each timestep, we further devise an error compensation network to model and compensate for the positional deviation between the ground-truth and the predicted trajectory, thus improving the prediction accuracy of our scheme. Experiments conducted on the Stanford Drone dataset and the ETH-UCY dataset show that our method achieves much better results than existing algorithms. Particularly, by resorting to our alleviation methodology for the error accumulation, our scheme exhibits superior performance in the long-term pedestrian trajectory prediction. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

As a tool for studying uncertain information, cloud model is of great significance in uncertain artificial intelligence and data mining. Among them, the backward cloud transformation method is one of the important algorithms of cloud model, which can realize the conversion from quantitative data to qualitative concepts. In this paper, a dynamic incremental backward cloud transformation algorithm is proposed to solve the problem that the estimated value of hyper entropy is imaginary when the backward cloud transformation method is used to calculate hyper entropy. First, according to the formation characteristics of cloud drops, the generated samples and the original samples are fused as new samples by dynamically and randomly generating samples, and then the hyper entropy is estimated until the estimated value of hyper entropy is real. Secondly, the stability and convergence of the algorithm proposed in this paper are analyzed through simulation experiments. The experimental results show that the new dynamic incremental backward cloud transformation algorithm solves the problem that the hyper entropy estimation value is imaginary while the estimation error is small and the stability is good. Finally, the algorithm is applied to brain CT segmentation, and the results show that the algorithm is effective and practical. © 2023 The authors and IOS Press.

An Optimal Control-Based Distributed Reinforcement Learning Framework for A Class of Non-Convex Objective Functionals of the Multi-Agent Network

This paper studies a novel distributed optimization problem that aims to minimize the sum of the non-convex objective functionals of the multi-agent network under privacy protection, which means that the local objective of each agent is unknown to others. The above problem involves complexity simultaneously in the time and space aspects. Yet existing works about distributed optimization mainly consider privacy protection in the space aspect where the decision variable is a vector with finite dimensions. In contrast, when the time aspect is considered in this paper, the decision variable is a continuous function concerning time. Hence, the minimization of the overall functional belongs to the calculus of variations. Traditional works usually aim to seek the optimal decision function. Due to privacy protection and non-convexity, the Euler-Lagrange equation of the proposed problem is a complicated partial differential ***, we seek the optimal decision derivative function rather than the decision function. This manner can be regarded as seeking the control input for an optimal control problem, for which we propose a centralized reinforcement learning(RL) framework. In the space aspect, we further present a distributed reinforcement learning framework to deal with the impact of privacy protection. Finally, rigorous theoretical analysis and simulation validate the effectiveness of our framework.

Image super-resolution (SR) is one of the classic computer vision tasks. This paper proposes a super-resolution network based on adaptive frequency component upsampling, named SR-AFU. The network is composed of multiple cascaded dilated convolution residual blocks (CDCRB) to extract multi-resolution features representing image semantics, and multiple multi-size convolutional upsampling blocks (MCUB) to adaptively upsample different frequency components using CDCRB features. The paper also defines a new loss function based on the discrete wavelet transform, making the reconstructed SR images closer to human perception. Experiments on the benchmark datasets show that SR-AFU has higher peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), significantly faster training speed and more realistic visual effects compared with the existing methods.

This paper presents a new feature extraction method for Electroencephalogram (EEG)-based motor imagery (MI) classification. Current researches mostly classify different MIs by detecting the event-related desynchronization (ERD) phenomenon from the EEG signals. Due to the poor spatial resolution of the MI-EEG signals, the cortical area (source) activating the MI cannot be located accurately with the EEG (sensor) signal, which might degrade the classification accuracy. This study adopts the EEG source imaging (ESI) technique to estimate the cortical area where source ERD happens from the EEG signal. An improved ESI method based on the linearly constrained minimum variance (LCMV) algorithm, in which an average LCMV filter and an average baseline covariance are constructed for the ESI, is proposed to locate the activated cortical area from the noisy EEG signals. The source ERD features are then extracted. Analytical results show that, for subjects with obvious average source ERD phenomenon, their activated cortical area in a single-trial MI can be well located. MI classification results also support the feasibility of the proposed method for MI-EEG signal processing. © 2022 IEEE.

In order to address the detection and segmentation of partial blur for natural images,a no-reference and training-free algorithm was proposed. Firstly, the test image was re-blurred by a Gaussian low-pass filter. Secondly, the pixel-wise singular value decomposition within N×N neighborhoods for both the test image and the re-blurred image were conducted to obtain the ratio of the end singular value to all singular value. According to the ratio,the blurriness distribution function was structured and the blurriness distribution map was drawed. Finally, combined with the K-means clustering algorithm and the erosion and dilation operations, the test image could be segmented into blur region and clear region. Experiment results show that the proposed approach can effectively detect and segment the partial blur image and behave well at precision, recall and F-score. © 2022 SPIE.

Polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) image classification has important application value and a wide range of application scenarios in many fields. Supervised classification methods, which need to use a large amount of labeled data to improve classification accuracy, have achieved satisfactory classification performance. However, it is difficult and expensive to obtain sufficient labeled data for PolSAR images. The problem to be solved is how to obtain high classification accuracy with a limited number of labeled samples. Semi-supervised PolSAR image classification method based on contrastive learning is proposed. Firstly, a supervised PolSAR image classification method based on meta-learning is introduced. Prototypical network based on meta-learning ideas is used as the basic classification model, and a prototypical representation is created for each category. Classification is performed by computing the similarity between the prototypical representation and samples to be classified. Secondly, a method of training feature extractor based on contrastive learning is designed. By maintaining the consistency of features between the same data and distinguishing the differences between different data after data augmentation, the method enables the feature extractor to obtain accurate feature representation. By co-training with meta-learning, so as to improve the classification performance. Finally, experiments on real PolSAR data prove the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2023 ACM.

Transformer-based neural machine translation (NMT) models have achieved performance close to human-level on some languages, but still suffer from poor interpretability and scalability of the models. Many advanced studies enhance the model’s translation ability by building external memory modules and utilizing retrieval operations, however, it suffers from poor robustness and low decoding efficiency while improving the model performance, especially for low-resource translation tasks. In this paper, we propose a confidence-based gating mechanism to optimize the decoding efficiency by building a sub-network to determine the confidence of the model’s own translation capability and then decide whether the current translation needs to be retrieved from the memory module. By reducing the number of retrievals to improve the model’s translation speed without degrading the translation quality as much as possible. In addition, we use a nonparametric dynamic Monte Carlo-based algorithm to fuse retrieval probabilities and model predictions to improve the generalization and robustness of the model. Extensive experiments on different datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.
