Given a piece of text, a video clip, and a reference audio, the movie dubbing task aims to generate speech that aligns with the video while cloning the desired voice. The existing methods have two primary deficiencies: (1) They struggle to simultaneously hold audio-visual sync and achieve clear pronunciation;(2) They lack the capacity to express user-defined emotions. To address these problems, we propose EmoDubber, an emotion-controllable dubbing architecture that allows users to specify emotion type and emotional intensity while satisfying high-quality lip sync and pronunciation. Specifically, we first design Lip-related Prosody Aligning (LPA), which focuses on learning the inherent consistency between lip motion and prosody variation by duration level contrastive learning to incorporate reasonable alignment. Then, we design Pronunciation Enhancing (PE) strategy to fuse the video-level phoneme sequences by efficient conformer to improve speech intelligibility. Next, the speaker identity adapting module aims to decode acoustics prior and inject the speaker style embedding. After that, the proposed Flow-based User Emotion Controlling (FUEC) is used to synthesize waveform by flow matching prediction network conditioned on acoustics prior. In this process, the FUEC determines the gradient direction and guidance scale based on the user’s emotion instructions by the positive and negative guidance mechanism, which focuses on amplifying the desired emotion while suppressing others. Extensive experimental results on three benchmark datasets demonstrate favorable performance compared to several state-of-the-art methods. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Simultaneous machine translation (SiMT) outputs translation while reading the source sentence. Unlike conventional sequence-to-sequence (seq2seq) training, existing SiMT methods adopt the prefix-to-prefix (prefix2prefix) training, where the model predicts target tokens based on partial source tokens. However, the prefix2prefix training diminishes the ability of the model to capture global information and introduces forced predictions due to the absence of essential source information. Consequently, it is crucial to bridge the gap between the prefix2prefix training and seq2seq training to enhance the translation capability of the SiMT model. In this paper, we propose a novel method that glances future in curriculum learning to achieve the transition from the seq2seq training to prefix2prefix training. Specifically, we gradually reduce the available source information from the whole sentence to the prefix corresponding to that latency. Our method is applicable to a wide range of SiMT methods and experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms strong baselines 1 .

In this letter, a set of circularly polarized (CP) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) cellphone frame antennas for mobile communication applications is proposed. The planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) and monopole antenna operate at frequencies of 3.5 GHz and 5.5 GHz with impedance and axial ratio (AR) bandwidths overlapping at 11.4% (3.3-3.7 GHz) and 7.3% (5.2-5.6 GHz), respectively. To reduce the electromagnetic coupling between the two antennas, the V-shaped mental fence is added and different rectangular metasurface (RMS) arrays are adopted to enhance the CP radiation performances. This design not only covers 5G communication, LTE, and the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. It also provides a communication strategy for future direct satellite communication from cellphones, enhancing efficient switching between satellite and cellular networks. © 2002-2011 IEEE.

A hybrid subgrid scheme based on the conventional finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) schemes are proposed. The alternating-direction-implicit FDTD (ADI-FDTD) is used to calculate electromagnetic fields in fine grid regions subgrids and the FDTD method is applied to the coarse grid regions. Numerical results demonstrate that the drastically reduced computation time and memory can be achieved by using the proposed 3D hybrid algorithm. © 2022 IEEE.

A passive component incorporated miniaturization super-wideband (PCIM-SWB) antenna is proposed for EMC measurement, which has a feeding line with passive components, circle-shaped radiating patch, defected ground. The proposed PCIM-SWB antenna is created from a simple monopole, where its defected ground is to enhance its bandwidth. The two passive components are integrated into the feeding to further to improve its bandwidth to cover lower frequency band. By co-simulation and optimization using HFSS and ADS, a -10 dB fractional bandwidth of 163.2% is gotten for the PCIM-SWB ranging from 0.48 GHz to 4.74 GHz with omnidirectional radiating pattern, which can be employed for Wi-Fi and many military applications.

Knowledge tracing (KT) is a crucial task in online learning, aimed at tracing and predicting each student's knowledge states throughout their learning process. Over the past decade, it has garnered widespread attention due to it provides the potential for more tailored and adaptive online learning experiences. Although most current KT methodologies emphasize optimizing network structures to enhance predictive accuracy for future student performance, they often neglect anomalous interactions in students' learning processes, which may arise from low data quality (i.e., inferior question quality) and abnormal student behaviors (i.e., guessing and mistakes). To this end, in this paper, we propose a novel framework, termed HD-KT, designed to enhance the robustness of existing KT methodologies with Hybrid learning interactions Denoising approach. Specifically, we introduce two detectors for anomalous learning interactions, namely knowledge state-guided anomaly detector and student profile-guided anomaly detector. In the first detection module, we design a sequential autoencoder to identify anomalous learning interactions by detecting atypical student knowledge states. In the second module, we incorporate an attention mechanism by modeling a student's long-term profile to capture irregular interactions. Extensive experiments on four real-world benchmark datasets have decisively shown our HD-KT markedly boosts the robustness of numerous prevailing KT models, consequently increasing the accuracy of future student performance predictions. Additionally, our case studies highlight the versatility of HD-KT in addressing diverse downstream tasks, such as exercise quality analysis and learning behavior-based student clustering. © 2024 ACM.

In this study, we recorded the electroencephalography (EEG) of human subjects when they watched a movie trailer. Based on the willingness preference from the subjects after finished the movie trailer watching, the EEG signals were analyzed to build regression models to predict the subjects' movie preferences. We proposed a new approach to rise the prediction accuracy. Specifically, the correlated component analysis (CCA) algorithm was used to calculate the inter-subject correlation (ISC) of each time segment in the movie trailer and the ISC of each channel in the EEG. These two states were selected to locate the moment when a specific area of the brain responds most strongly to the video stimulation, as an effective indicator for predicting individual movie preferences. The experimental results show that the method of selecting effective EEG signals at the level of ISC has achieved a better prediction effect on the GBDT regression model (R2 = 0.733, RMSE = 0.681). We also found that low-frequency EEG signals in the θ and δ bands of the parietal and occipital sites are more effective in predicting movie preferences than high-frequency EEG signals. © 2023 SPIE.

An Efficient Saddle Search Method for Ordered Phase Transitions Involving Translational Invariance

In this work, we propose an efficient nullspace-preserving saddle search (NPSS) method for a class of phase transitions involving translational invariance, where the critical states are often degenerate. The NPSS method includes two stages, escaping from the basin and searching for the index-1 generalized saddle point. The NPSS method climbs upward from the generalized local minimum in segments to overcome the challenges of degeneracy. In each segment, an effective ascent direction is ensured by keeping this direction orthogonal to the nullspace of the initial state in this segment. This method can escape the basin quickly and converge to the transition states efficiently. We apply the NPSS method to the phase transitions between crystals, and between crystal and quasicrystal, based on the Landau-Brazovskii and Lifshitz-Petrich free energy functionals. Numerical results show a good performance of the NPSS method. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Integrating Multi-scale Contextualized Information for Byte-based Neural Machine Translation

Subword tokenization is a common method for vocabulary building in Neural Machine Translation (NMT) models. However, increasingly complex tasks have revealed its disadvantages. First, a vocabulary cannot be modified once it is learned, making it hard to adapt to new words. Second, in multilingual translation, the imbalance in data volumes across different languages spreads to the vocabulary, exacerbating translations involving low-resource languages. While byte-based tokenization addresses these issues, byte-based models struggle with the low information density inherent in UTF-8 byte sequences. Previous works enhance token semantics through local contextualization but fail to select an appropriate contextualizing scope based on the input. Consequently, we propose the Multi-Scale Contextualization (MSC) method, which learns contextualized information of varying scales across different hidden state dimensions. It then leverages the attention module to dynamically integrate the multi-scale contextualized information. Experiments show that MSC significantly outperforms subword-based and other byte-based methods in both multilingual and out-of-domain scenarios. A lumped elements integrated miniaturization super-wideband antenna is proposed, which is fed by coplanar waveguide (CPW) that consists of feeding line, extended ground plane, three S-shaped-slot rectangle radiation patches and several integrated lumped elements. The three S-shaped-slot rectangle radiation patches are electromagnetically coupled by the balanced CPW feeding line. To enhance the bandwidth of the designed antenna, several lumped elements are integrated into the antenna. The designed antenna is modeled in CST. By co-simulation and optimizing using CST and ADS. A -10 dB fractional bandwidth of 169.5% can be achieved which ranges from 0.8 GHz-9.7 GHz. Moreover, the proposed antenna has good omnidirectional radiation patterns in the operating band.
