Bilevel optimization problems are characterized by an interactive hierarchical structure, where the upper level seeks to optimize its strategy while simultaneously considering the response of the lower level. Evolutionary algorithms are commonly used to solve complex bilevel problems in practical scenarios, but they face significant resource consumption challenges due to the nested structure imposed by the implicit lower-level optimality condition. This challenge becomes even more pronounced as problem dimensions increase. Although recent methods have enhanced bilevel convergence through task-level knowledge sharing, further efficiency improvements are still hindered by redundant lower-level iterations that consume excessive resources while generating unpromising solutions. To overcome this challenge, this paper proposes an efficient dynamic resource allocation framework for evolutionary bilevel optimization, named DRCBLEA. Compared to existing approaches, DRC-BLEA introduces a novel competitive quasi-parallel paradigm, in which multiple lower-level optimization tasks, derived from different upperlevel individuals, compete for resources. A continuously updated selection probability is used to prioritize execution opportunities to promising tasks. Additionally, a cooperation mechanism is integrated within the competitive framework to further enhance efficiency and prevent premature convergence. Experimental results compared with chosen state-of-the-art algorithms demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Specifically, DRCBLEA achieves competitive accuracy across diverse problem sets and real-world scenarios, while significantly reducing the number of function evaluations and overall running time. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

In this paper, a band-pass plasmonic filter based on Metal-Insulator-Metal (MIM) waveguides and its modified structures are designed and investigated theoretically and numerically. The filter consists of two circular ring resonator and its modified structures which has narrow gaps in the middle of resonant rings. To study their performance in different structures, propagation modes of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are investigated. In outer gapped model, we found that the transmission in different resonant modes can be effectively tuned by varying the gap width, and the transmission peak wavelength is nonlinear with the gap width. The results are obtained by high-order symplectic FDTD (SFDTD) algorithm which is non-dissipative and has low dispersion error. The structure with double gaps in both external and internal rings have potential applications in plasmonic integrated circuits, because of its characteristic of a single narrow band-pass with high transmittance. The introduced structures may provide a novel method for the design of devices in highly integrated optical circuits.

With the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT), computation offloading collaboration has become an important solution to address the data processing challenges faced by resource-constrained devices. However, security and privacy issues have become a major concern in the computation offloading collaboration process. This paper proposes a blockchain-assisted computation offloading collaboration scheme, Blockchain-Assisted Computation Offloading Collaboration (BACOC). The scheme uses blockchain technology to assist computation offloading collaboration under IoT conditions to fortify security and resilience during the computation offloading process. At the same time, a hierarchical game model based on Stackelberg game theory and contract theory is adopted to determine the optimal service pricing strategy. Experimental and simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the BACOC scheme. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This work investigates the fault-tolerant control scheme for Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy semi-Markov jump systems with actuator faults. The hidden semi-Markov model is employed to describe the asynchronous phenomenon between the controller and plant. Based on Lyapunov theory, the fault tolerant controller depending on observable mode is presented to make sure that the semi-Markov jump systems is stochastically stable and satisfies the $H_{\infty}$ performance. A simulation example via a single-link robot is employed to prove the correctness of the studied approach.

In the present study, the finite-time asynchronous dissipative filter design problem for the Markov jump systems with conic-type nonlinearity is studied. The hidden Markov model can describe the asynchronism embodied in the system modes and the filter modes reasonably. Moreover, a suitable LyapunovKrasovskii function is utilized and linear matrix inequalities are applied to obtain adequate conditions. These techniques guarantee the finite-time boundedness and strict dissipativity of the filtering error dynamic system. Furthermore, the design problems of the passive filter and the H∞ filter are studied by adjusting the three parameters U, G and V. Finally, the filter gains and the optimal index α*are obtained and the correctness and feasibility of the designed approach are verified by a simulation example.

Robust DOA Estimation Based on Dual Lawson Norm for RIS-Aided Wireless Communication Systems

Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) can actively perform beamforming and have become a crucial enabler for wireless systems in the future. The direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimates of RIS received signals can help design the reflection control matrix and improve communication quality. In this paper, we design a RIS-assisted system and propose a robust Lawson norm-based multiple-signal-classification (LN-MUSIC) DOA estimation algorithm for impulsive noise environments, which is divided into two parts: first, the non-convex Lawson norm is used as the error criterion along with a regularization constraint to formulate the optimization problem. Then, a Bregman distance based alternating-direction-method-of-multipliers (ADMM) is used to solve the problem and recover the desired signal. The second part is to use the multiple-signal-classification (MUSIC) to find out the DOAs of targets based on their sparsity in the spatial domain. In addition, we also propose a RIS control matrix optimization strategy that requires no channel state information (CSI), which effectively enhances the desired signals and improves the performance of the LN-MUSIC algorithm. A Cramér–Rao-lower-bound (CRLB) of the proposed DOA estimation algorithm is presented and verifies its feasibility. Simulated results show that the proposed robust DOA estimate algorithm based on the Lawson norm can effectively suppress the impact of large outliers caused by impulsive noise on the estimation results, outperforming existing *** Codes - Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Efficient numerical methods for computing stationary states of spherical Landau-Brazovskii model

In this paper, we develop a set of efficient methods to compute stationary states of the spherical Landau-Brazovskii (LB) model in a discretization-then-optimization way. First, we discretize the spherical LB energy functional into a finite-dimensional energy function by the spherical harmonic expansion. Then five optimization methods are developed to compute stationary states of the discretized energy function, including the accelerated adaptive Bregman proximal gradient, Nesterov, adaptive Nesterov, adaptive nonlinear conjugate gradient and adaptive gradient descent methods. To speed up the convergence, we propose a principal mode analysis (PMA) method to estimate good initial configurations and sphere radius. The PMA method also reveals the relationship between the optimal sphere radius and the dominant degree of spherical harmonics. Numerical experiments show that our approaches significantly reduce the number of iterations and the computational time. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Visual tracking often faces challenges such as invalid targets and decreased performance in low-light conditions when relying solely on RGB image sequences. While incorporating additional modalities like depth and infrared data has proven effective, existing multi-modal imaging platforms are complex and lack real-world applicability. In contrast, near-infrared (NIR) imaging, commonly used in surveillance cameras, can switch between RGB and NIR based on light intensity. However, tracking objects across these heterogeneous modalities poses significant challenges, particularly due to the absence of modality switch signals during tracking. To address these challenges, we propose an adaptive cross-modal object tracking algorithm called Modality-Aware Fusion Network (MAFNet). MAFNet efficiently integrates information from both RGB and NIR modalities using an adaptive weighting mechanism, effectively bridging the appearance gap and enabling a modality-aware target representation. It consists of two key components: an adaptive weighting module and a modality-specific representation module. The adaptive weighting module predicts fusion weights to dynamically adjust the contribution of each modality, while the modality-specific representation module captures discriminative features specific to RGB and NIR modalities. MAFNet offers great flexibility as it can effortlessly integrate into diverse tracking frameworks. With its simplicity, effectiveness, and efficiency, MAFNet outperforms state-of-the-art methods in cross-modal object tracking. To validate the effectiveness of our algorithm and overcome the scarcity of data in this field, we introduce CMOTB, a comprehensive and extensive benchmark dataset for cross-modal object tracking. CMOTB consists of 61 categories and 1000 video sequences, comprising a total of over 799K frames. Contrastive Learning of Person-independent Representations for Facial Action Unit Detection

Facial action unit (AU) detection, aiming to classify AU present in the facial image, has long suffered from insufficient AU annotations. In this paper, we aim to mitigate this data scarcity issue by learning AU representations from a large number of unlabelled facial videos in a contrastive learning paradigm. We formulate the self-supervised AU representation learning signals in two-fold: (1) AU representation should be frame-wisely discriminative within a short video clip;(2) Facial frames sampled from different identities but show analogous facial AUs should have consistent AU representations. As to achieve these goals, we propose to contrastively learn the AU representation within a video clip and devise a cross-identity reconstruction mechanism to learn the person-independent representations. Specially, we adopt a margin-based temporal contrastive learning paradigm to perceive the temporal AU coherence and evolution characteristics within a clip that consists of consecutive input facial frames. Moreover, the cross-identity reconstruction mechanism facilitates pushing the faces from different identities but show analogous AUs close in the latent embedding space. Experimental results on three public AU datasets demonstrate that the learned AU representation is discriminative for AU detection. Our method outperforms other contrastive learning methods and significantly closes the performance gap between the self-supervised and supervised AU detection approaches. © 2024, CC BY.
