We present a FDTD method which can be used to calculate the optical properties of nanostructures with nonlocal effect. The effect can be described by a spatially nonlocal dielectric function with a Drude plus two Lorentz terms model. We compared the optical properties of isolated nanowires with different radii. According to the extinction spectra, we can determine in which length scale the nonlocal effects become remarkable and should be taken into consideration in real applications. At the same time, we verify the conclusions by the transmission of nanostructures. Our method and related results can be used as a tool and reference in the design of realistic sub-wavelength devices.

Nonlinear dynamics in high-speed wireless networks congestion control model with TCP logwestwood+ under RED

In this paper, we proposed a first-order discrete time nonlinear dynamic model of congestion control system with TCP LogWestwood+ (TCPLog) connections and random early detection (RED) gateway in high-speed wireless networks. The model is used to analyze nonlinear dynamics of the TCPLog/RED network and its stability with respect to various RED controller and system parameters. Bifurcation and chaos behaviors are shown to occur when parameters varied. By theoretical derivation, the fixed point and the critical value are obtained, and the nature of the bifurcation is determined. Furthermore, bifurcation diagrams and Lyapunov exponent are exploited to verify the theoretical results. Finally, the bifurcation and chaotic phenomena of the congestion control system are numerically studied with TCPLog connections and RED gateway. © 2014 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

Application of high-order symplectic FDTD scheme to typical quantum devices

Using symplectic integrators and staggered spatial differences to establish a new high-order Symplectic Finite-Difference Time-Domain scheme (SFDTD(4, 4)) for solving time-dependent Schrödinger equation. The fourth-order accuracy difference scheme for the second derivative of the space segment is to obtain the time evolution of the multi-dimensional system and then introducing the fourth order symplectic integrator for discrete;the numerical stability is obtained with SFDTD(4, 4) scheme, one-or multi-dimensional stability conditions for Schrödinger equation with nonzero potential energy are also derived;the perfect absorbing boundary condition of SFDTD(4, 4) scheme for quantum devices is achieved by the concept of stretching coordinate. The simulated results of a one-dimensional quantum well and metal MOSFET confirm the preference of the SFDTD(4, 4) scheme over the traditional finite-difference time-domain scheme. The SFDTD(4, 4) scheme, which is high-order-accurate and energy conserving, is well suited for long term *** results can be used as a necessary reference for the design of new quantum devices. ©, 2015, Chinese Optical Society. The research of the relationship between eye-movement and human activity has become a hot spot in the field of the human-computer interaction. In order to recognize the eye-movement patterns related to reading tasks, an algorithm based on electrooculogram(EOG) has been proposed in this paper. In the proposed approach, wavelet packet decomposition was firstly used to smooth EOG signals during reading tasks, and then, according to the predefined coding strategy, the smoothed EOG waveform is translated into a coding string to represent current reading state. Finally, Levenshtein distance is employed to measure the similarity of the template string and the output string. The experiments under the experimental paradigms of autonomy-reading and stimulus-reading and reading with rest state have been carried out. The mean accurate has reached 90%. The experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm can effectively recognize human reading activity state.

A hybrid differential evolution algorithm solving complex multimodal optimization problems

Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm is a kind of intelligent algorithm based on natural evolution over the past few decades, which shows better optimization performance on some classical benchmark problems. However, it is easy to fall into local optimum and hard to find the global optimal solution when solving complex multimodal optimization problems. In this paper, we propose a Hybrid-strategybased Differential Evolution (HDE) algorithm. It combines three search strategies, the self-adaptive controlling of parameters, multiple mutation strategy and opposition-based learning. Then we select 11 different types of complex multimodal optimization problems and do experiment with simulated data. The result shows that HDE algorithm gets better performance than other 7 methods. ©, 2015, Journal of Information and Computational Science. All right reserved.

Phase retrieval from coded diffraction patterns

The classical iterative phase retrieval method has the disadvantages of poor anti-noise performance, and can not converge to the global optimal solution. The optimization of phase retrieval technology via PhaseCut (PC) transforms the phase retrieval problem into quadratic constrained convex programming problem, and gets the global optimal solution up to global phase. Some more structured and less random ternary masks and octonary masks are used to code the signal of interest to acquire diffraction patterns which can recover the missing phase information by solving PhaseCut. Simulations are firstly performed to test the one dimensional complex signal and compare the success rates of reconstruction using different masks. Secondly, the reconstruction results of two dimensional molecular images are compared for different masks. The results show that the method can obtain better reconstruction results than the traditional method which is based on binary masks. Moreover, the recovered phase distributions are loaded to the optical reconstruction system based on liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS). The diffraction pattern of real experiment proves the effectiveness of the proposed method. ©, 2015, Board of Optronics Lasers. All right reserved.

Robustness is a very important issue in the field of automatic speech recognition (ASR) research, especially to provide high recognition accuracy in practical applications. However, the recognition rate based on the traditional whole frequency band HMM will decrease when only partial frequency bands are corrupted by noise. In order to solve this problem, a speech enhancement algorithm based on hybrid parallel subbands HMM and neural network model was proposed. The whole frequency band HMM was split into a few subbands HMM and extract some new feature parameters according to all subbands HMM outputs, and then merged them by BP neural network to yield a global recognition decision. The experimental results show that the hybrid parallel subbands HMM and neural network (PSHMM/NN) model can improve the robustness of speech recognition system in noisy environments. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

A new Rauch-tung-striebel form of the fixed-lag cubature Kalman smoother has been developed for nonlinear state-space models by adopting cubature transformation for optimal smoothing. This new smoother differs from the previously proposed fixed-interval cubature Kalman smoother, in which the current step's smoothing calculation is based on the current step's filtering estimate and the next step's smoothing estimate. In this research, we introduce a fixed-lag cubature Kalman smoother that uses all filtering estimates from step k-n to k to correct the estimate in step k-n by backward iteration, given that n is the lag, and k is the current step. Derived smoothing equations here are approximated to the formal Bayesian optimal smoothing equations. The effect of different n values on smoothing estimate is investigated and an example is used to demonstrate the new algorithm's performance. 1553-9105/Copyright © 2014 Binary Information Press

Color PNG Image Authentication Scheme Based on Rehashing and Secret Sharing Method

An authentication scheme that uses rehashing and secret sharing methods to verify the reality of a color image’s content is proposed in this paper. First, the proposed scheme uses Shamir’s secret sharing method to share image features. Second, the proposed scheme innovatively utilizes the rehashing method to overcome easy collisions of the random numbers to enhance the effectiveness against attacks. Third, the proposed method utilizes Portable Network Graphics images to hide authentication messages. Using the rehashing method, the collisions take up little in address space, making the process suitable for processing authentication messages. The experimental results indicated that the proposed scheme had very low false acceptance and rejection ratios and verified that the rehashing method can be used in image authentication applications. © 2009 ISSN 2073-4212.
