Color PNG Image Authentication Scheme Based on Rehashing and Secret Sharing Method

An authentication scheme that uses rehashing and secret sharing methods to verify the reality of a color image’s content is proposed in this paper. First, the proposed scheme uses Shamir’s secret sharing method to share image features. Second, the proposed scheme innovatively utilizes the rehashing method to overcome easy collisions of the random numbers to enhance the effectiveness against attacks. Third, the proposed method utilizes Portable Network Graphics images to hide authentication messages. Using the rehashing method, the collisions take up little in address space, making the process suitable for processing authentication messages. The experimental results indicated that the proposed scheme had very low false acceptance and rejection ratios and verified that the rehashing method can be used in image authentication applications. © 2009 ISSN 2073-4212.

There has been a growing interest in alignment-free methods for whole genome comparison and phylogenomic studies. In this study, we propose an alignment-free method for phylogenetic tree construction using whole-proteome sequences. Based on the inter-amino-acid distances, we first convert the whole-proteome sequences into inter-amino-acid distance vectors, which are called observed inter-amino-acid distance profiles. Then, we propose to use conditional geometric distribution profiles (the distributions of sequences where the amino acids are placed randomly and independently) as the reference distribution profiles. Last the relative deviation between the observed and reference distribution profiles is used to define a simple metric that reflects the phylogenetic relationships between whole-proteome sequences of different organisms. We name our method inter-amino-acid distances and conditional geometric distribution profiles (IAGDP). We evaluate our method on two data sets: the benchmark dataset including 29 genomes used in previous published papers, and another one including 67 mammal genomes. Our results demonstrate that the new method is useful and efficient.

In this paper, we proposed a hybrid image data hiding method used for watermarking applications in order to make sure the hidden dual watermarks survive after the image manipulation and enhancement processes. To achieve this goal, the proposed method is divided into two phases. In the first phase, the YCbCr color space is exploited, and, then, LSB techniques are used to embed the first level watermark bits in the YCbCr channel. In the second phase, the modification direction method is used to embed the second level watermark bits in the RGB channel. The experimental results confirmed that the proposed method resists most geometric attacks more effectively than Lusson et al.'s method. Therefore, the method is suitable for protecting the ownership of images and integrity of the potential tampered images. © 2015 ISSN.

Congestion control strategy based on probability selection in delay tolerant mobile sensor network

We analyzed the relationship between packet validity and encounter probability as well as the relationship between packet validity and remaining lifetime. Then we proposed the congestion control strategy based on probability selection, which implements the operations of congestion detection and congestion avoidance. When node buffer is fully occupied and needs to store a new packet, it will look for the packets whose remaining lifetime is lower than the threshold T, and then drop the packet with minimum encounter probability. If there is no packet whose remaining lifetime is lower than T, the packet with the shortest remaining lifetime will be dropped. Simulation results show that this congestion control strategy improves the performances of delivery probability, average delay and overhead ratio compared with four kinds of congestion control strategies. 1548-7741/Copyright © 2014 Binary Information Press

This paper proposes an improved performance metric for multiobjective evolutionary algorithms with user preferences. This metric uses the idea of decomposition to transform the preference information into m+1 points on a constructed preference-based hyperplane, then calculates the Euclidean distances and the angles between the obtained solutions by algorithms and those obtained m+1 points, respectively. By means of these distances and angles, the proposed metric can evaluate effectively both the convergence and diversity of the obtained solution set, with consideration of the preference information. This makes easier and allows meaningful comparisons between different multiobjective evolutionary algorithms using preference information.

One of the fundamental problems in sensor networks is the target's state estimation. The Unscented Kalman consensus filter (C-UKF) makes use of the consensus protocol and applies it to an optimal filter of nonlinear state-space models. It does this in order to acquire a consensus of n sensor Kalman filters' measurements, but the estimates of C-UKF are dispersed for a relatively long period. In this study, a new Unscented Kalman consensus filter based on Rauch-Tung-Striebel Smoother (C-URTS) is proposed. This new algorithm and Unscented Kalman consensus filter (C-UKF) differ in their reliance on a traditional Unscented Kalman filter. Unscented Kalman consensus filters are used to apply state estimates for the initial smooth value of URTS. The C-URTS uses a neighbor's information to reach a consensus, and then runs a backward smoother with the obtained Kalman consensus filters' value for better accuracy. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of C-URTS in sensor networks. 1553-9105/Copyright © 2014 Binary Information Press.

intelligent household as an extension of smart grid in the user side highly integrates loads management and control. Home energy management system (HEMS) with automatic demand response (ADR) is a key part of intelligent household, which is able to fit their electricity demand without changing the residents' habits too much. Furthermore HEMS schedule their power consumption to save energy, reduce emission, shift peak load and reduce the financial burden. The characteristics of various electrical devices were analyzed in this paper, and a mathematical model of ADR was established. Multi-objective kinetic-molecular theory optimization algorithm was used to optimize the solution of the ADR model. Implementation results showed that the KMTOA was more accurate and reliable than other algorithms for the complexities of model and data size considered in this study. Compared with some similar algorithms, the multi-objective kinetic-molecular theory optimization algorithm shows more advantages.

Robust Spatial Filters on Three-Class Motor Imagery EEG Data Using Independent Component Analysis

Independent Component Analysis (ICA) was often used to separate movement related independent components (MRICs) from Electroencephalogram (EEG) data.?However, to obtain robust spatial filters, complex characteristic features, which were manually selected in most cases, have been commonly used. This study proposed a new simple algorithm to extract MRICs automatically, which just utilized the spatial distribution pattern of ICs. The main goal of this study was to show the relationship between spatial filters performance and designing samples. The EEG data which contain?mixed brain states (preparing, motor imagery and rest) were used to design spatial filters. Meanwhile, the single class data was also used to calculate spatial filters to assess whether the MRICs extracted on different class motor imagery spatial filters are similar. Furthermore, the spatial filters constructed on one subject’s EEG data were applied to extract the others’ MRICs. Finally, the different spatial filters were then applied to single-trial EEG to extract MRICs, and Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifiers were used to discriminate left hand、right-hand and foot imagery movements of BCI Competition IV Dataset 2a, which recorded four motor imagery data of nine subjects. The results suggested that any segment of finite motor imagery EEG samples could be used to design ICA spatial filters, and the extracted MRICs are consistent if the position of electrodes are the same, which confirmed the robustness and practicality of ICA used in the motor imagery Brain Computer Interfaces (MI-BCI) systems.

Phase retrieval technology under partially coherent optical field based on lens model

The transport of intensity equation (TIE) is solved to recover the phase information through the combination of optics and calculation with the method of phase retrieval based on the intensity measurement. It is proved to be a feasible way to obtain phase information theoretically and experimentally. The sensitivity and resolution problems because of the interferometry techniques are avoided. However, the method is derived under the assumption of coherent illumination. It is difficult to expand it to the partially coherent optical field. A partially coherent optical field at any point in the space experiences statistical fluctuations over time. To fully characterize this field, correlations between pairs of points need to be used. Combining the phase modulation of lens and characteristics of partially coherent field, a new phase retrieval method under partially coherent illumination based on the lens imaging model is deduced. Finally, the phase retrieval results are given under uniform and non-uniform illumination. Experimental results verify that this new phase retrieval method is reasonable and correct. The application of traditional phase retrieval algorithm on transport of intensity equation is extended.

Efficient plane wave injection for 3D FDTD method

The method of SP-FDTD (Splitting Plane wave Finite Difference Time Domain)is applied to 3D FDTD (Finite Difference Time Domain)method for plane wave incidence. Based on the split-field formulation, the method has the new iterative equations and can eliminate the error of interpolation and discretized phase velocity mismatch between 1D FDTD and 3D FDTD grid. Numerical results show that the present method is valid for different type of wave sources, and accuracy for oblique incident plane wave, with the leakage error on the order of -300 dB.
