IOTA (Internet of Things Applications) protocol aims to provide a secure and trustworthy protocol for realizing data-value interactions between IoT devices, and it has become the next possible direction for the development of Blockchain applications. IOTA protocol has the problem that the time-consuming cumulative weight update grows too fast with the increase of the number of transactions, this paper proposed an improved IOTA protocol based on optimal midway walk, the improved protocol uses cutting-edge transaction selection algorithm of weighted Monte Carlo Markov random walk to reduce cumulative weight update delay. Firstly, this improved IOTA protocol mainly ensures the efficiency of transaction confirmation without losing the security of consensus by introducing the optimal midway walk method, i.e., the starting point of each walk is chosen to depart at an optimal location. Secondly, this paper designs the indirect verification identity record algorithm and the layer degree of confirmation principle are designed to realize the improved IOTA protocol's resilience and resistance to Parasite chain attack. The experimental results show that the improved IOTA using random function to select the midway walk starting point from i-50λ, to i-75λsubstantially solves the system computational burden problem and greatly reduces the cumulative weight update delay.

A sparse array (SA), termed as ATLF3-2BL, is proposed based on the uniform linear array (ULA) fitting (UF) principle. UF is a general SA devising scheme, based on which designers can devise SAs using a series of ULAs. SAs devised upon UF enjoy closed-form expressions for both array configuration and uniform degrees of freedom. Comprised of 7 ULAs, the proposed ATLF3-2BL can provide a long virtual difference coarray than most existing SAs. Besides, the mutual coupling in ATLF3-2BL remains a low level. Therefore, the ATLF3-2BL gives a considerable compromise between mutual coupling and uniform degrees of freedom. Simulations attest the good performance of the proposed ATLF3-2BL.

Patent classification is an essential task in patent information management and knowledge mining. Most existing studies are based on the textual content of individual patent texts (e.g., titles and abstracts) for classification, but the patent also has label information with hierarchical structure and semantic description. However, the semantics correlation of patent texts and their labels have been largely ignored. In this paper, we propose a novel framework called HLSPC for patent classification by leveraging the hierarchical semantics correlation of patent texts and their labels. Specifically, we first apply a patent representation learning module for capturing the semantics representation of patent texts and hierarchical labels. Then, we design a label attention learning module to build the semantics correlation between patent texts and hierarchical labels, which enhances patent representation. Finally, we deploy a multi-level fusion module to get the refined category prediction for each patent which can preserve both local and global hierarchical prediction information. Extensive experimental results on two English patent datasets demonstrate the effective power of the HLSPC model.

A General Constrained Adaptive Filtering (GCAF) algorithm is proposed via constructing a general and adaptive loss function to find out a solution of constraint optimizing problem. By selecting appropriate parameters, the GCAF algorithm can be utilized to approximate different adaptive algorithms and has higher performance than its approximated algorithms. The steady state mean squared-deviation of GCAF algorithm is derived and analyzed. Also, its complexity is presented. Simulation results demonstrated that the performance of devised GCAF method can outperform most of typically adaptive algorithms by choosing optimal parameters. © 2023, CC BY.

In this paper, a novel sparse multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) array (SMA) is proposed with closed-form expression. The proposed SMA is devised using the difference-coarray of the sum-coarray concept and the uniform linear array (ULA) fitting (UF) principle. More specifically, the transmitting and receiving arrays of the proposed SMA are sparse arrays designed via the UF principle. Compared with the existing SMAs, the proposed SMA has augmented uniform degrees of freedom (uDOF) and sensor separation. Numerical simulations verify the good capacity of the proposed SMA in terms of uDOF, mutual coupling, and direction finding accuracy.

This paper presents a hybrid method for determination of continuous dielectric properties of clothing materials. The dielectric constant and loss tangent of three types of materials are firstly investigated using open-ended coaxial probe from 0.5 to 20 GHz. The average measured values are input into the CST simulation of two CPW lines to obtain the two-port S-parameters. Finally, more reasonable yet reliable results are obtained by using two retrieval algorithms (TRACE and ABCD) for validation and comparative purposes.

Relational-Branchformer: Novel Framework for Audio-Visual Speech Recognition

This study embraced the state-of-the-art Branchformer series architecture within the realm of automatic speech recognition, supplanting the widely utilized Conformer architecture. This substitution offers an innovative remedy tailored to audio-visual speech recognition tasks. Building upon the Branchformer architecture, enhancements were made culminating in the proposal of the Relational-Branchformer (R-Branchformer). The convolutional attention relation module was innovatively incorporated to augment the connectivity between the local and global branches by meticulously considering their interrelations and interplays. Consequently, this module facilitates the mutual embedding of local and global contextual information, ultimately leading to a substantial enhancement in model performance. Our model was grounded in the utilization of the connectionist temporal classification (CTC) loss, wherein we incorporated intermediate CTC losses between blocks. Moreover,through the reference and enhancement of the gated interlayer collaboration module, which superseded the inter CTC module, we effectively relaxed the conditional independence assumption intrinsic to the CTC model. As a consequence, this augmentation markedly bolstered the overall performance of our model. Furthermore, we proposed the audio-visual output enhancement module, which adeptly assimilates information from both audio and visual modalities to enrich the representation of audio-visual information. Consequently, the R-Branchformer model achieved remarkable word error rates of 1.7% and 1.5% on the LRS2 and LRS3 test sets, respectively, exemplifying its state-of-the-art performance in audio-visual speech recognition tasks. © 2023, The Authors. Reconfigurable intelligent Surfaces (RIS) are recognized for their ability to actively control signal propagation, presenting a wide array of applications in 5G and the forthcoming 6G networks. In this paper, we design a RIS-assisted multi-input single-output (MISO) model and propose a corresponding direction of arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm. The proposed DOA estimation algorithm leverages the non-convex Ekblom norm to serve as the error criterion, ensuring robustness against impulsive noises, while the smoothed L1 norm is implemented as the regularization constraint to further enhance the performance of the algorithm. Distinct from prior research, the system under consideration operates with a single receive antenna, facilitating DOA estimation through the adjustment of RIS reflection coefficients, thereby markedly reducing system hardware costs. Moreover, we devise an alternating minimization strategy to obtain the optimal solution to the problem. A series of simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm surpasses existing methods in terms of accuracy and robustness.

This study adopts the state-of-the-art Branchformer series architecture in the field of automatic speech recognition (ASR) as a replacement for the previously popular Conformer architecture, providing a novel solution for audio-visual speech recognition tasks. Building upon this foundation, we improve the Branchformer architecture and propose the R-Branchformer (Relational-Branchformer) architecture. The introduction of the CARM (Convolutional Attention Relation Module)enhances the connectivity between the local and global branches by considering their relationships and interactions, facilitating mutual embedding of local and global contextual information, ultimately boosting model performance. Our model is based on the Connectionist Temporal Classification (CTC) loss, and we incorporate intermediate CTC losses between blocks. Moreover, by referencing and improving the GIC (Gated Interlayer Collaboration) module to replace the Inter CTC module, we further relax the conditional independence assumption of the CTC model, resulting in enhanced model performance. Furthermore, we propose the Audio-Visual Output Enhancement (AVOE) module, which effectively assimilates information from both audio and visual modalities to enrich the representation of audio-visual information. As a result, our R-Branchformer model achieves remarkable Word Error Rates (WERs) of 1.7% and 1.5% on the LRS2 and LRS3 test sets, respectively, showcasing its state-of-the-art performance in audio-visual speech recognition tasks. © 2023, The Authors. In this paper, a differential bandpass filter (BPF) based on enhanced coupling line structure has been suggested in this study. Two out-of-band transmission zeros are added to the differential mode by loading the coupling line at the output terminal, which raises the rectangular coefficient of the filter. Two common mode transmission zeros in the passband are additionally provided by the open/short stub that is already loaded at the output port. To accommodate the demands of various filter performances, the location of the transmission zeros can be modified by altering the values of the coupling lines' and stubs' impedances. Finally, the passband common mode suppression might be as high as 40 dB.
