An improved radius of gyration similarity measure between generalized fuzzy numbers and its application to multisource data fusion

The degree of similarity between fuzzy numbers plays an important role in fuzzy information fusion. In this paper, improved ROG-based similarity measure developed from the current ROG method is presented. It is shown that the new method can overcome some shortcomings of the existing similarity measures. Based on the proposed similarity measure, a more flexible and intelligent algorithm is developed to deal with multisensor data fusion problems. A numerical example is used to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method. © 2011 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

A Low SAR, Small size, High gain, Circularly polarized Antenna for Wearable Application

A planar, small size, high gain, low specific absorption rate (SAR) and circularly-polarized (CP) wearable antenna is proposed in this paper. The antenna is fabricated on a substrate with a dielectric constant of 3.5 with a thickness of 0.5 mm and sized at 42×42 mm only. Both the simulation results show that the overlap bandwidth of impedance and axial ratio of the proposed antenna is 13.7% (5.15-5.91 GHz). To isolate the antenna against the influence of the human body, a artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) plane is added on the reverse side of the radiator. The AMC structure effectively isolates the human body from the radiation of the antenna and reduces the specific absorption rate (SAR) of it by more than 96.1% at 5.5 GHz, which improves the antenna gain and the peak gain reaches 5.09 dBi at 5.5 GHz. The wearable performance of the antenna was analyzed, and it is observed that it can sustain good performance even under human body loading. Beside, the antenna has a small size, which makes it ideal for wearable applications.

A group of decision-makers may differ in their choice of alternatives while making a decision. As a result, how to aggregate opinions of different experts is still an open issue. Due to the uncertainty in the process of decision making, some mathematic tools such as fuzzy sets theory and evidence theory, are used to model uncertain information. In this paper, the experts' opinions are represented by interval numbers. A new optimal aggregation method to combine interval data is proposed based on genetic algorithm. The new method can deal with experts' opinions in an efficient manner. A numerical example on group decision making under uncertain environment is used to illustrate the efficiency of our proposed method. Copyright © 2011 Binary Information Press.

Evidence theory is widely used in many application systems such as information fusion and decision making under uncertainty environment. However, the classical Dempster combination rule is not efficient to deal with highly conflicting evidences. One of the open issues is how to determine the conflict degree in conflict evidence management. In this paper, a new conflict coefficient is proposed to measure the conflict degree between bodies of evidence. It can overcome some drawbacks of the classical conflict coefficient. The sparse interactions between users and items have aggravated the difficulty of their representations in recommender systems. Existing methods leverage tags to alleviate the sparsity problem but ignore prevalent logical relations among items and tags (e.g., membership, hierarchy, and exclusion), which can be leveraged to enhance the accuracy of modeling user preferences and conducting recommendations. To this end, we propose to extract logical relations among item tags from existing tag taxonomies and exploit the individual strengths of the Poincaré and the Lorentz models in hyperbolic space for logical relation modeling towards enhanced recommendations. Moreover, we find that the logical relations directly extracted from existing tag taxonomies can be inaccurate and coarse. Therefore, we further devise innovative consistency-based and granularity- based weighting mechanisms based on user behavior patterns for data-driven logical relation mining that can be jointly optimized along with recommendations in an end-to-end fashion. Extensive experiments on four real-world benchmark datasets show drastic performance gains brought by our proposed framework, which constantly achieves an average of 8.25% improvement over state-of-the-art competitors regarding both Recall and NDCG metrics. Insightful case studies further demonstrate that our automatically refined logical relations are highly accurate and interpretable.

This paper presents a novel tri-band frequency miniaturized frequency selection surface (FSS). The proposed FSS consists of single-node folding and single-node folding bending. The single-layer FSS exhibits three stop bands centered at 2.45, 3.61 and 5.79 GHz, with bandwidths of 0.42, 0.48 and 0.70 GHz, respectively. The proposed FSS has better miniaturization characteristics, and its cell size is 0.126 λ×0.126 λ. The three stop band frequencies of the FSS can be independently controlled by simply changing the length of the corresponding branch. In addition, the proposed FSS is symmetrical about the center and exhibits good resonance stability in both TE and TM polarization. The prototype of the proposed FSS was fabricated and tested, compared with the simulation results, the FSS showed stable performance. This method provides ideas for designing multiband FSS in the future.

UNLABELLED:Traditional methods for sequence comparison and phylogeny reconstruction rely on pair wise and multiple sequence alignments. But alignment could not be directly applied to whole genome/proteome comparison and phylogenomic studies due to their high computational complexity. Hence alignment-free methods became popular in recent years. Here we propose a fast alignment-free method for whole genome/proteome comparison and phylogeny reconstruction using higher order Markov model and chaos game representation. In the present method, we use the transition matrices of higher order Markov models to characterize amino acid or DNA sequences for their comparison. The order of the Markov model is uniquely identified by maximizing the average Shannon entropy of conditional probability distributions. Using one-dimensional chaos game representation and linked list, this method can reduce large memory and time consumption which is due to the large-scale conditional probability distributions. To illustrate the effectiveness of our method, we employ it for fast phylogeny reconstruction based on genome/proteome sequences of two species data sets used in previous published papers. Our results demonstrate that the present method is useful and efficient. Voice conversion (VC) systems can transform audio to mimic another speaker’s voice, thereby attacking speaker verification (SV) systems. However, ongoing studies on source speaker verification (SSV) are hindered by limited data availability and methodological constraints. This paper presents the Source Speaker Tracking Challenge (SSTC) on STL 2024, which aims to fill the gap in the database and benchmark for the SSV task. In this study, we generate a large-scale converted speech database with 16 common VC methods and train a batch of baseline systems based on the MFA-Conformer architecture. In addition, we introduced a related task called conversion method recognition, with the aim of assisting the SSV task. We expect SSTC to be a platform for advancing the development of the SSV task and provide further insights into the performance and limitations of current SV systems against VC attacks. In this paper, an algorithm named best wavelet packet tree decomposition (BWPTD) is proposed for image compression. In order to obtain better sparse representation of image, best wavelet packet basis is introduced to decompose image signal in the algorithm. Experimental results show that BWPTD is better than single layer wavelet decompression (SLWD) and original compressed sensing (OCS) in peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) by 2db and 8db, respectively. In addition, the reconstruction time of BWPTD is only half as that of SLWD and OCS. © 2013 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

This paper explores the size-invariance of evaluation metrics in Salient Object Detection (SOD), especially when multiple targets of diverse sizes co-exist in the same image. We observe that current metrics are size-sensitive, where larger objects are focused, and smaller ones tend to be ignored. We argue that the evaluation should be size-invariant because bias based on size is unjustified without additional semantic information. In pursuit of this, we propose a generic approach that evaluates each salient object separately and then combines the results, effectively alleviating the imbalance. We further develop an optimization framework tailored to this goal, achieving considerable improvements in detecting objects of different sizes. Theoretically, we provide evidence supporting the validity of our new metrics and present the generalization analysis of SOD. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.
