As an extended rough set model, the probabilistic rough sets can effectively process data with noise. How to effectively calculate three approximation regions, is a crucial issue of probability rough sets. Existing calculation methods for approximation regions are based on conditional probability, the time complexity is O(|U||U||C|). In order to improve the computing efficiency of three approximation regions of probabilistic rough sets, we propose a double-local conditional probability based fast calculation method. First, to improve the computational efficiency of equivalence class, we define the double-local equivalence class. Second, based on the double-local equivalence class, we define the double-local conditional probability. Finally, given the probability thresholds and a local equivalence class, the monotonicity of double-local conditional probability is proved, on this basis, a double-local conditional probability based fast calculation method for approximation regions of probabilistic rough sets is presented, and the time complexity is O(MAX(X||U||C|, |XC||U||C|)). Experimental results based on 12 datasets from UCI demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

At present, Internet of Things (IoT) testing instruments and meters are unable to identify the communication protocol of communication data when all characteristic parameters of communication data are unknown. Regarding this problem, this paper utilizes the K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) model in machine learning, designs communication protocol identification methods and proposes a communication protocol identification method based on time-frequency domain combination (CPI- TFC). First, we generate time-domain waveforms and frequency-domain waveforms from sampling communication data sequences, and attempt only time-domain identification method and only frequency-domain identification method based on KNN model. Then, we compare the results, design a communication protocol identification method based on the combination of time-domain identification and frequency domain identification, and propose CPI-TFC. Experimental results show that CPI-TFC can achieve higher identification accuracy than only time-domain identification method and only frequency-domain identification method, so it can effectively identify the communication protocol for a IoT communication data. Moreover, CPI- TFC can provide prior information for subsequent configuring parameters in IoT testing instruments, improve the parameter configuration efficiency.

In this paper, we propose two new subband adaptive filtering (SAF) algorithms based on the cost function of the logistic distance metric cost function and use the proportionate proximal gradient algorithm to exploit the sparsity of the system fully. Compared with prior works, the proposed algorithms can handle many different situations better. Through computer simulations, we prove that the algorithm performs excellently in sparse systems disturbed by impulse noises. The algorithm can be used in areas like system identifications.

NetPrompt: Neural Network Prompting Enhances Event Extraction in Large Language Models

Event Extraction involves extracting event-related information such as event types and event arguments from context, which has long been tackled through well-designed neural networks or fine-tuned pre-trained language models. These approaches require substantial annotated data for tuning parameters and are resource-intensive. Recently, Prompting strategies with frozen parameters, such as Chain-of-Thought and Self-Consistency, have delivered success in NLP using LLMs by generating intermediate thought steps. However, they suffer from the challenge of error propagation and lack of interaction between different thoughts. In this paper, we propose Neural Network-based Prompting (NetPrompt), a novel network-structured prompting strategy for event extraction. The core idea behind NetPrompt is to imitate the excellent information integration capabilities of neural network structures. Specifically, we first decompose the event extraction problem into diverse intermediate subtasks, and each subtask is represented as a node in different layers of the network, the output of the nodes in the preceding layer is fed into the subsequent layer. Secondly, we propose pruning strategies to adapt the reasoning overhead to different problems. Finally, we have conducted extensive experiments on two widely used event extraction benchmarks to evaluate NetPrompt. The results demonstrated that NetPrompt significantly improved the event extraction performance compared to previous methods. ©2015 IEEE.

An ideal desired spatial light modulator that is capable of complex amplitude modulation will be one of the ultimate tools for holographic display. In this paper, an analytical method to overlap double-phase Fresnel holograms displayed on the phase-only spatial light modulators for synthesizing a complex Fresnel hologram is proposed. Two $$4f$$ configurations with the phase-only spatial light modulator inserted in the Fourier plane are employed. Different programmable blazed phase gratings can be easily implemented by encoding their phase functions onto the spatial light modulators. We theoretically analyze the implementation of the proposed system based on Fourier optics. The effects introduced by the discrete pixelated nature of the spatial light modulator are assessed. A $$4f$$ configuration of holographic display system based on two liquid crystals on silicons is designed to indicate the free position-shift of the hologram. This work proposes a high-performance broadband orbital angular momentum (OAM) beam-generating metasurface based on optically transparent media. A broadband polarization-converting transmissive metasurface, which operates in the 18 - 24 (28.57% fractional bandwidth) GHz range, has been realized by collaboratively designing dual C-split ring resonator structures and bidirectional lattice-patterned surface networks. The array structure demonstrates typical helical phase distribution features in the K-band, and experimental results verify simulation design. Innovatively employing a composite structure of quartz glass substrate and patterned conductive thin films, the design achieves compatible optimization of 77% visible-light transmittance and microwave broadband performance. This approach breaks through the mutually exclusive limitations of traditional metasurfaces’ optical/electromagnetic properties, providing a highly integrated solution for transparent antenna radomes in satellite communication systems and multi-mode beam multiplexing applications.

We introduce the notion of logarithmically concave (or log-concave) sequences in Coding Theory. A sequence a0, a1, . . ., an of real numbers is called log-concave if a2i ≥ ai−1ai+1 for all 1 ≤ i ≤ n−1. A natural sequence of positive numbers in coding theory is the weight distribution of a linear code consisting of the nonzero values among Ai’s where Ai denotes the number of codewords of weight i. We call a linear code log-concave if its nonzero weight distribution is log-concave. Our main contribution is to show that all binary general Hamming codes of length 2r − 1 (r = 3 or r ≥ 5), the binary extended Hamming codes of length 2r (r ≥ 3), and the second order Reed-Muller codes R(2, m) (m ≥ 2) are all log-concave while the homogeneous and projective second order Reed-Muller codes are either log-concave, or 1-gap log-concave. Furthermore, we show that any MDS [n, k] code over Fq satisfying 3 ≤ k ≤ n/2 + 3 is log-concave if q ≥ q0(n, k) which is the larger root of a quadratic polynomial. Joint Squared-Sine Function and ANM DOA Estimation for RIS-Based Sensing Systems

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) is an emerging technology for improving the performance of wireless communications. In this letter, a joint Squared-Sine function and atomic norm minimization (ANM), denoted as SS-ANM, is proposed for passive sensing assisted by RIS in wireless communication systems interfered by a wireless access point (AP). The proposed joint optimization is used to estimate the targets’ direction-of-arrival (DOA), employing the spatial domain sparsity of the received signals. The optimal solution is achieved from the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). With the help of the Squared-Sine function as the cost function, the proposed solution provides better estimation accuracy under various noises besides Gaussian noise, and meanwhile requires a lower computation complexity. Simulation results verify the superiority of the proposed joint minimization over existing DOA estimation methods. © 2023, CC BY.

To achieve high precision direction-of-arrival estimation of MIMO arrays in highly coupled environments, based on the difference and cooperative array principles, the uniform array fitted with 5 base layer array and the uniform array fitted with 6 base layer array were used as transmitting arrays, and with the addition of 1 base layer layer sparse array as receiving array, two sparse multi-in multiple-out arrays were designed for single-base radar, which have the characteristics of low coupling of transmitting array and high freedom of receiving array.

A double-layer stacked patch filtering antenna with broadband circular polarization performance is proposed in this paper. The main patch consists of a corner-truncated square patch with two shorting pins. The designed two shorting pins are located in the main patch and the upper stacked patch structure are introduced and designed, which can gain two radiation nulls for realizing the filtering effect of the proposed antenna. The circularly polarized (CP) operation is realized by corner-truncated square patch. In addition, to increase the axial ratio (AR) bandwidth, a rectangular slot is carved on the ground plane. The simulated results indicate that the researched antenna can provide the impedance bandwidth of 20.58% (2.68-3.29 GHz) and AR bandwidth of 9.5% (2.80-3.08 GHz). Moreover, The average realized gain of the simulation is 6.48 dBic over bandwidth.
