Brain-computer interface (BCI) which transforms signals from the brain into control signals can help people with disabilities communicate with others. In this paper, posteriori probability support vector machine (PPSVM) for patterns recognition was developed. For the classification of the left or right hand motor imagery, this method was used to expend the training set by adding samples with great probability output. For the dataset from 2003 BCI Competition, AR model was adopted to extract feature vectors and SVM with posteriori probabilistic output was used to classify the dataset. The results proved that, by adding samples with big probability, the performance of BCI was improved and higher accuracy was achieved. © 2011 IEEE.

Perfect plane-wave source for a high-order symplectic finite-difference time-domain scheme

The method of splitting a plane-wave finite-difference time-domain （SP-FDTD） algorithm is presented for the initiation of plane-wave source in the total-field / scattered-field （TF/SF） formulation of high-order symplectic finite- difference time-domain （SFDTD） scheme for the first time. By splitting the fields on one-dimensional grid and using the nature of numerical plane-wave in finite-difference time-domain （FDTD）, the identical dispersion relation can be obtained and proved between the one-dimensional and three-dimensional grids. An efficient plane-wave source is simulated on one-dimensional grid and a perfect match can be achieved for a plane-wave propagating at any angle forming an integer grid cell ratio. Numerical simulations show that the method is valid for SFDTD and the residual field in SF region is shrinked down to -300 dB.

Clear image stitching becomes mature now, but how to stitch blurred images with clear ones is still tough, mainly because of the ill-posed image deblurring. Existing deblurring methods assume spatial-invarint blur kernel, pixelwise constant blur kernel or planar camera motion. But these assumptions are difficult to hold in the real blurred image which is a spatial-variant blurred image by 3D camera motion. To overcome such limits for stitching blurred image, in this paper, we present a new feature based framework of stitching a clear/blurred image pair. It is inspired by recently proposed projetive warping models depicting the camera movement embedded in the capturing process of the blurred image. Our main contribution is a feature based algorithm for kernel estimation using the overlapped clear/blurred image pair. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed stitching method.© 2011 IEEE.

A high-order symplectic FDTD (SFDTD) framework for solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation is established. The third-order symplectic integrators and fourth-order collocated differences are employed in the time and space domains, respectively. The stabilities and numerical dispersions of FDTD(2,2), higher-order FDTD(2,4), and SFDTD(3,4) schemes are analyzed. We found that the stability limit of the SFDTD(3,4) scheme can be larger than that of the traditional FDTD(2,2) method through careful optimization of symplectic integrators. Moreover, the SFDTD(3,4) scheme and the FDTD(2,4) approach show better numerical dispersions than the traditional FDTD(2,2) method.

Nowadays, the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) developments improve the research of EOG. In this paper, A new EOG-based HCI system for multimedia control is designed and implemented. A special headset named Mindset is used to detect the EOG pulses generated by blinking, and then transmit them wirelessly via Bluetooth to PC. Three modules are contained in the system, which are the wireless communication module, EOG recognition module and the multimedia control module, respectively. The system can be used as an assistant for the disable persons, also can be used for amusement among normal people. It is feasible to put the system into practical use due to its security and convenience. © 2011 IEEE.

In wireless communication, the cooperative communications technology has been concern because of its advantages of spatial diversity. In particular, cooperative communication with a single relay is a simple, practical technology for wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we analyze several simple network topologies. Under the condition of equal power allocating, the optimum relay locations are respectively determined by using symbol error rate (SER) formula. And these types of topologies are compared, the analysis results show that, Linear network topology has the best system performance, the system performance of isosceles triangle topology is better than that of equilateral triangle topology. © 2011 IEEE.

The propagation environment of electromagnetic waves in mine tunnels is confined areas. The mine tunnel is regard as wave-guide which contains kinds of un-beneficial medium, the field formulas of different polarization waves were presented based on Marcatili method, and field prediction of horizontal and vertical polarization waves were simulated. The results showed that propagation effect of vertical polarization waves was better than horizontal polarization wave in mine tunnels of breadth less than height, contrarily propagation attenuation of horizontal polarization waves were higher than vertical polarization waves in mine tunnels of height less than breadth, at the same time the field distribution would be influenced because of section dimension change.

Based on the Retinex method and the SIFT feature analysis, this paper presents a novel algorithm for hand vein recognition. First of all, the principle of the near-infrared hand vein image acquisition is introduced. Secondly, the Retinex method is used to normalize hand vein images, and the adaptive smoothing method is selected to estimate the illumination. Then gray cosine transform is used to enhance the discrimination of the skin and the vein in hand vein images. Thirdly, the SIFT feature analysis algorithm is used to extract the feature of hand vein. Finally, the match method of two hand vein images based on SIFT is given. A hand vein recognition system in Microsoft VC6.0 is also developed and the experimental results demonstrate the high efficiency of the proposed algorithm in runtime and correct recognition rate. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2011.

Tissue P systems are distributed parallel and non-deterministic computing models in the framework of membrane computing, which are inspired by intercellular communication and cooperation between neurons. Recently, cell separation is introduced into tissue P systems, which enables systems to generate an exponential workspace in a polynomial time. In this work, the computational power of tissue P systems with cell separation is investigated. Specifically, a uniform family of tissue P systems with cell separation is constructed for effciently solving a well-known NP-complete problem, the partition problem.
