In consideration of the poor locomotion ability of most traditional tensegrity robot, a novel tensegrity hopping robot powered by push-pull electromagnets was proposed with better locomotivity. It is able to conduct stable consecutive progressing action and turning action through hopping. This paper covers the structural design, theoretical modeling of the robot's hopping process, as well as its self-righting analysis, simulation and experimental verification. The average moving speed and relative moving speed were measured to be 0.334m/s and 0.641 body length/s respectively, which obviously surpass the general moving ability of most traditional tensegrity robot. In addition, the robot was also validated to have good self-righting characteristic for stable consecutive hopping. Thus this robot can be potentially applied for search, rescue, detection, etc. in outdoor and unstructured environment. © 2023 IEEE.

A Novel Thermal Analysis Method for Tubular PM Linear Motors Based on Transfer Learning

Thermal modeling and analysis are critical for permanent magnet linear synchronous motors (PMLSMs), particularly in multiphysical analysis and motor design optimization. This article proposes a new method for thermal steady state modeling and analysis based on transfer learning (TL), which combines the thermal mechanism model with the data-driven model to achieve high-precision temperature analysis with small number of finite element analysis (FEA) samples. First, an equivalent thermal circuit (ETC) model is established for PMLSMs based on the structural parameters and heat transfer principles. Second, a hybrid model based on TL is developed: the model is pretrained by a large sample set generated from the ETC in the source field (mechanism analytical model), and then, the trained model is transferred to the target field (FEA data-driven model). The parameters of the neural network in the target field are optimized by a few FEA sample sets with higher precision to improve the prediction accuracy of the target model. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method significantly boosts the performance of the deep neural network (DNN) model, particularly when training sets are small. The root mean square error (RMSE) of the DNN model decreases by 0.901 in the 5:5 (training/testing) dataset and 1.726 in the 2:8 dataset;and the corresponding R^{2} and maximal absolute error of motor performances are significantly decreased. The smaller the proportion of the training set, the better performance of the hybrid modeling will achieve. Furthermore, a temperature rise experiment conducted on a prototype motor validates the efficacy and precision of the proposed hybrid modeling methodology. © 2015 IEEE.

In this paper, a modified artificial potential field (MAPF) method was proposed for general mobile robot navigation system. This MAPF method can effectively solve the unreachable goal problem and the local minima problem of traditional APF method. The first key idea of MAPF method is to modify the repulsive force function and thus optimize the direction of total repulsive force;the second key idea is to generate a serials of subgoal points around obstacles with specific method, so as to help the robot escape from or keep away from local minima area. By comparing with other similar algorithms in simulation environment, the MAPF algorithm can generate shorter paths efficiently. More importantly, it also can generate effective paths in multi-obstacle environment where other algorithms cannot. In order to achieve electrical isolation, high-voltage transformers must use insulating materials. However, in some applications, such as medical treatment, transformers using insulating materials may cause problems of weight increase and flexible movement. As a result, the inductively coupled power transfer (ICPT) system are used to replace regular high transformers, with the air gap between the primary and secondary coils serving as electrical insulation. Under the SP resonance compensation structure, the ICPT system needs to achieve exceptionally high gain, which will result in the voltage gain being sensitive to frequency variations. When the frequency deviates slightly from the resonance point, more circulation and loss occurs, lowering the efficiency of the system. Therefore, this paper proposes a control strategy based on the combination of pulse-duration modulation (PDM) and maximum efficiency point tracking (MEPT) is proposed, at the first resonance point of the ICPT system based on the SP resonance compensation structure. This control method is capable of producing medium and high voltage constant voltage output, and the switch tube achieves zero current switching during operation. In the case of a wide load variation range, maximum efficiency point tracking may be obtained at the same time. Finally, a 100W high-gain ICPT experimental platform is built, and the constant voltage output with 25 times high gain is realized over the transmission distance of 11.2cm, which verifies the effectiveness of the control strategy. © 2022 IEEE.

A high-reliability constant current to constant voltage power supply system has the advantages of small volume of switching power supply, high power density, high efficiency was proposed. This paper use two controllers to control the shunt regulator(SR) circuit and single-end flyback converter part, and separate the two parts for small signal modeling and give the parameters to stabilize the closed loop. The state space average modeling idea was used to solve the state equations for the modes of the converters in a switching cycle. In order to ensure the stability of cascade system, this paper collaborative optimization of hardware filter parameters and the appropriate PI parameter design. The experimentals verify the correctness of our theory, and the system has good stability under closed-loop conditions. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

X-ray security check is a prevalent placement measure that plays a vital role in ensuring public safety. However, detecting prohibited items poses a complex challenge due to their variable sizes within X-ray images. In this study, we tackle this issue by curating a novel dataset through the integration of open-source data and introducing a Multiscale Feature Fusion Module. This module facilitates robust detection by amalgamating features across different scales. Extensive experiments verified that the superiority of our method compared to existing methods on the prohibited items test set constructed in this paper demonstrates extremely well the practical effectiveness of our proposed method. © 2024 IEEE.

Time delay has great impacts on the stability and the reliability and real-time of the communication of multi-agent systems. In multi-agent communication network, due to network congestion, transmission distance and other factors, there are various communication delays. In this paper, we study the deviation of convergence value after adding time-varying delays under gradient descent method, and the upper bound related to delay time is estimated. This upper bound can be used to analyze the magnitude of deviation under different time delays and minimize the loss caused by delays, and provide more explicit information for system optimization and resource allocation. Numerical simulation is conducted to verify the proposed approach. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper considers the prediction problem of financial time series, namely, the prediction of exchange rate for four currencies with the Chinese Yuan (CNY). A novel approach is developed for this challenging topic by neural ordinary differential equations (NODEs). The comparing simulations with long short-term memory (LSTM) and gated recurrent unit (GRU) show that NODEs have better precision and accuracy in exchange rate prediction. Especially, for the drastic change case, the NODEs approach gives more flexible technique.
