A Unified Framework Integrating decision Making and Trajectory Planning Based on Spatio-Temporal Voxels for Highway Autonomous Driving

intelligent decision making and efficient trajectory planning are closely related in autonomous driving technology, especially in highway environment full of dynamic interactive traffic participants. This work integrates them into a unified hierarchical framework with long-term behavior planning (LTBP) and short-term dynamic planning (STDP) running in two parallel threads with different horizon, consequently forming a closed-loop maneuver and trajectory planning system that can react to the dynamic environment effectively and efficiently. In LTBP, a novel voxel structure and the 'voxel expansion' algorithm are proposed for the generation of driving corridors in 3D configuration, which involves the prediction states of surrounding vehicles. By using Dijkstra search, the maneuver with minimal cost is determined in form of voxel sequences, then a quadratic programming (QP) problem is constructed for solving the optimal trajectory. And in STDP, another small-scaled QP problem is performed to track or adjust the reference trajectory from LTBP in response to the dynamic obstacles. Meanwhile, a Responsibility-Sensitive Safety (RSS) Checker keeps running at high frequency for real-time feedback to ensure security. Experiments on real data collected in different highway scenarios demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our work. © 2000-2011 IEEE.

Micro-assembly is an emerging method to fabricate microrobots with multiple modules or particles. However, there is always a lack of a flexible and efficient method to freely create the desired magnetic soft microrobots. In this paper, an automated assembly system based on a two-fingered microhand is presented for fabricating magnetic soft microrobots. Our proposed system can automatically pick and place components to assemble microrobots with a two-fingered micromanipulator, and orient these components through an external magnetic field. The automated assembly has the advantages of high accuracy, high speed, and high success rate. It can endow magnetic microrobots with flexible material selection, arbitrary geometry design, and programable magnetization profile. We can make full use of this system to fabricate multiple magnetic soft microrobots. The experiment results demonstrate that this system can efficiently fabricate microrobots with excellent mechanical properties, which have application potential in robotics, biomedical engineering, and environmental governance.

GM-APD lidar has single-photon sensitivity, so that it can obtain 3D information of distant targets. On the other hand, the laser echo of targets is easily drowned by noise. In order to solve this problem, an interval-peak-based algorithm for range image reconstruction is proposed in this paper. Firstly, in the photon counts histogram, the x-axis is divided into small intervals and the peak value of each interval is taken. This step weakens the bad characteristic caused by the trigger probability. Secondly, according to the data feature, the trigger probability ratio coefficient and the neighborhood correlation coefficient are obtainned. Finally, the range image can be extracted by the peak method after the peak value of each interval is multiplied with this two coefficients. It is verified by the experimental data that when the SNR of target echo data is 0.022, the recovery ratio of the proposed algorithm can reach 80%, which is 25% higher than the matching filter algorithm. The proposed algorithm has a good application prospect in the range image reconstruction of GM-APD lidar.

Gm-APD LiDAR has a high sensitivity response characteristic, enabling imaging for detecting targets at extended distances, and finds broad utility. However, the highly sensitive response characteristic also makes Gm-APD LiDAR vulnerable to noise, resulting in poor imaging quality and challenging the application of target detection algorithms to this type of LiDAR. Therefore, this paper proposes a long-range vehicle detection model DRT-DETR for Gm-APD LiDAR. DRT-DETR is based on RT-DETR and employs a dual-channel feature extraction backbone, which combines with the lightweight FasterNet Block to capture semantic features from distance and intensity images effectively. It also incorporates mixed attention modules to selectively combine and enhance key features from both types of images. Attention-based Intrascale Feature Interaction employs cascaded group attention as a replacement for multi-head attention in order to minimize computational redundancy. Finally, Dysample is used instead of nearest neighbor upsampling in the cross-scale feature fusion to align features better and minimize distortion. The improved model boosts detection accuracy by 3.8% over RT-DETR and outperforms other common object detection models on the dataset, demonstrating its effectiveness.

Recently,convolutional neural network has been pervasively adopted in visual object tracking for its potential in discriminating the target from the surrounding *** of the visual object trackers extract deep features from a specific layer,generally from the last convolutional ***,these trackers are less effective,especially when the target undergoes drastic appearance variations caused by the presence of different challenging situations,such as occlusion,illumination change,background clutter and so *** this research paper,a novel tracking algorithm is developed by introducing an elastic net constraint and a contextual information into the convolutional network to successfully track the desired target throughout a video *** features are extracted from the shallow and the deep convolutional layers to further improve the tracking accuracy and *** the deep convolutional layers capture important semantic information,they are more robust to the target appearance *** for the shallow convolutional layers,they encode significant spatial details,which are more accurate to precisely localize the desired ***,Peak-Strength Context-Aware correlation filters are embedded to each convolutional layer output that produce multi-level convolutional response maps to collaboratively identify the estimated position of the target in a coarse-to-fine *** and qualitative experiments are performed on the widely used benchmark,the OTB-2015 dataset that shows impressive results compared to the state-of-the-art trackers.

It is necessary to regularly detect faults to maintain the safety and stability of power lines. Insulators are one of the important electrical components in high-voltage transmission lines. It is extremely necessary to check the working status of insulators regularly. Traditional manual inspection is inefficient because it requires a significant amount of labor costs. In this paper, a method for detecting insulators' missing defect based on aerial images is proposed to address the issue by unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Firstly, the improved Faster R-CNN (region-based convolutional neural network) is used to identify and locate insulators in aerial images. Secondly, the U-Net image segmentation network segments insulators from the images. The adaptive threshold segmentation method completely separates the insulator from the background. Then the binary image of the insulator is obtained. Finally, the binary image is converted into a fault curve which is used for determining the missing insulators based on the distribution of the fault curve. By using collected insulator datasets on a 330kV overhead transmission line using a DJI M300 UAV platform and an onboard H20T camera/sensor, the detection accuracy of glass insulators is as high as 0.98 with the proposed algorithm. The positioning accuracy of the proposed algorithm is also higher than other algorithms. This method has high detection accuracy for missing defects in insulators. The experimental results show that compared with similar algorithms, this method has higher accuracy and efficiency.

Zero-shot object detection aims to localize and recognize objects of unseen classes. Most of existing works face two problems: the low recall of RPN in unseen classes and the confusion of unseen classes with background. In this paper, we present the first method that combines DETR and meta-learning to perform zero-shot object detection, named Meta-ZSDETR, where model training is formalized as an individual episode based meta-learning task. Different from Faster R-CNN based methods that firstly generate class-agnostic proposals, and then classify them with visual-semantic alignment module, Meta-ZSDETR directly predict class-specific boxes with class-specific queries and further filter them with the predicted accuracy from classification head. The model is optimized with meta-contrastive learning, which contains a regression head to generate the coordinates of class-specific boxes, a classification head to predict the accuracy of generated boxes, and a contrastive head that utilizes the proposed contrastive-reconstruction loss to further separate different classes in visual space. We conduct extensive experiments on two benchmark datasets MS COCO and PASCAL VOC. Experimental results show that our method outperforms the existing ZSD methods by a large margin. Ethiopian Airlines’ Boeing 737-8 MAX nosedived and crashed shortly after takeoff on March 10, 2019, at Ejere Town, south of Addis Ababa. A faulty angle of attack (AOA) sensor was the cause of the crash. Many airplane accidents have been linked to faulty AOA sensors in the past. The majority of the AOA sensor fault detection, isolation, and accommodation (SFDIA) literature relied on linear model-driven techniques, which are not suitable when the system’s model is uncertain, complex, or nonlinear. Traditional multilayer perceptron (MLP) models have been employed in data-driven models in the literature and the effectiveness of deep learning-based data-driven models has not been investigated. In this work, a data collection and processing method that ensures the collected data is not monotonous and a data-driven model for AOA SFDIA is proposed. The proposed model uses a deep learning-based recurrent neural network (RNN) to accommodate for faulty AOA measurement under flight conditions with faulty AOA measurement, faulty total velocity measurement, and faulty pitch rate measurement. Conventional residual analysis with a fixed threshold is used to detect and isolate faulty AOA sensors. The proposed and benchmark models are trained with the adaptive momentum estimation (Adam) algorithm. We show that the proposed model effectively detects, isolates, and accommodates faulty AOA measurements when compared to other data-driven benchmark models. The method is able to detect and isolate faulty AOA sensors with a detection delay of 0.5 seconds for ramp failure and 0.1 seconds for step failure.
