In the long-Term observation of geomagnetic field, the levelness of coil vector magnetometer will affect the measurement of magnetic direction. Therefore, we propose an electrical detection method of instrument non-levelness, which realizes the quantitative calculation of non-levelness by measuring the maximum and minimum values of the resultant magnetic field during detection. Then, a horizontal error model of coil vector magnetometer is constructed, and the mapping from instrument non-levelness to declination measurement error can be realized by vector operation. The results show that when the non-levelness of the instrument is less than 10", the measurement of magnetic declination variation deviates from the real value by 3.4%;When the non-levelness of the instrument is less than 20", the measurement of magnetic declination variation deviates from the real value by 13.5%. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Alarm systems serve as the first layer of protection for modern process industries to monitor industrial processes and ensure operational safety. However, the presence of alarm floods is common in alarm systems and may distract operators from critical alarms. To provide decision supports to operators during alarm flood situations, alarm prediction becomes a potential effective solution. The difficulty of alarm prediction lies in how to achieve high prediction accuracy over long-term consecutive alarm monitoring periods, including situations with either high or low alarm rates. Consequently, this paper presents an industrial alarm prediction method for both alarm flood periods and non-alarm flood periods. Specifically, a strategy of combining fixed-length and fixed-time sliding windows is designed. Further, an alarm prediction model based on Informer is proposed for alarm prediction under different alarm rates. A case study is presented to prove the validity of the proposed alarm prediction method.

Adapting Human Mesh Recovery with Vision-Language Feedback

Human mesh recovery can be approached using either regression-based or optimization-based methods. Regression models achieve high pose accuracy but struggle with model-to-image alignment due to the lack of explicit 2D-3D correspondences. In contrast, optimization-based methods align 3D models to 2D observations but are prone to local minima and depth ambiguity. In this work, we leverage large vision-language models (VLMs) to generate interactive body part descriptions, which serve as implicit constraints to enhance 3D perception and limit the optimization space. Specifically, we formulate monocular human mesh recovery as a distribution adaptation task by integrating both 2D observations and language descriptions. To bridge the gap between text and 3D pose signals, we first train a text encoder and a pose VQ-VAE, aligning texts to body poses in a shared latent space using contrastive learning. Subsequently, we employ a diffusion-based framework to refine the initial parameters guided by gradients derived from both 2D observations and text descriptions. Finally, the model can produce poses with accurate 3D perception and image consistency. Experimental results on multiple benchmarks validate its effectiveness. Canine EEG Helps Human: Cross-Species and Cross-Modality Epileptic Seizure Detection via Multi-Space Alignment

Epilepsy significantly impacts global health, affecting about 65 million people worldwide, along with various animal species. The diagnostic processes of epilepsy are often hindered by the transient and unpredictable nature of seizures. Here we propose a multi-space alignment approach based on cross-species and cross-modality electroencephalogram (EEG) data to enhance the detection capabilities and understanding of epileptic seizures. By employing deep learning techniques, including domain adaptation and knowledge distillation, our framework aligns cross-species and cross-modality EEG signals to enhance the detection capability beyond traditional within-species and within-modality models. Experiments on multiple surfaces and intracranial EEG datasets of humans and canines demonstrated substantial improvements in detection accuracy, achieving over 90% AUC scores for cross-species and cross-modality seizure detection with extremely limited labeled data from the target species/modality. To our knowledge, this is the first study that demonstrates the effectiveness of integrating heterogeneous data from different species and modalities to improve EEG-based seizure detection performance. This is a pilot study that provides insights into the challenges and potential of multi-species and multi-modality data integration, offering an effective solution for future work to collect huge EEG data to train large brain models. © 2024, CC BY.

In this paper, a multi-feature extraction-based image identification method for rock debris in the drilling process is proposed, involving three main parts (trainable feature extractor, strong feature extraction, and classification). In trainable feature extractor, abstract features are obtained by extracting the full connection layer of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). In strong feature extraction, the method uses Gray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) and Color Coherence Vector (CCV) to get the strong feature. In classification, the extracted abstract features and strong features are concatenated and fed into the Support Vector Machine (SVM). Comparison results with two well-known methods indicated the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2022 IEEE.

This article deals with model- and data-based consensus control of heterogenous leader-following multi-agent systems (MASs) under an event-triggering transmission scheme. A dynamic periodic transmission protocol is developed to significantly alleviate the transmission frequency and computational burden, where the followers can interact locally with each other approaching the dynamics of the leader. Capitalizing on a discrete-time looped-functional, a model-based consensus condition for the closed-loop MASs is derived in form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), as well as a design method for obtaining the distributed controllers and event-triggering parameters. Upon collecting noise-corrupted state-input measurements during open-loop operation, a data-driven leader-following MAS representation is presented, and employed to solve the data-driven consensus control problem without requiring any knowledge of the agents' models. This result is then extended to the case of guaranteeing an H∞ performance. A simulation example is finally given to corroborate the efficacy of the proposed distributed event-triggering scheme in cutting off data transmissions and the data-driven design method. Data-driven fault diagnosis methods have been widely applied at present. In the drilling process, there usually exists multiple failure modes resulting in the multi-scale of drilling fault data, which would bring challenges for the data-driven methods application in drilling. By considering the characteristics of multi-scale and multivariate, an original scheme based on mode decomposition and decision fusion is proposed for fault diagnosis of drilling process. Firstly, the raw data are decomposed and reconstructed into multiple groups of series. Then, for each group, the diagnosis model is established using the convolutional neural network (CNN), and several diagnostic results are obtained. Finally, all diagnostic results are fused by the Dempster-Shafer (D-S) evidence theory, and the fused result is taken as the final diagnostic result. The actual data based experiments illustrate the effectiveness of proposed method for improving the performance of drilling fault diagnosis.

Accurate identification and position of transmission lines is critical for robots to safely and effectively perform distribution network operations. However, such tasks are often challenged by complex lighting conditions, where depth information can be easily lost. Transmission lines have limited texture features and reflective surfaces, making it difficult to match image feature points. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a visual perception system for weak texture targets under complex lighting, based on an "eye-on-hand" configuration and a depth complementation algorithm. Furthermore, a high-precision identification and localization method for transmission line grasping points is developed, utilizing the fusion of binocular visual color maps and depth maps. The proposed method has been shown to effectively solve the problem of identifying and localizing the grasping points of transmission lines under complex lighting conditions. Experiments demonstrated that the method can improve the localization accuracy to within ±4mm, outperforming other algorithms. The method is characterized as simple and efficient, and it enhances the environmental adaptability of distribution network robots. © 2024 IEEE.
