In this paper, the fault detection problem has been investigated for networked singularly perturbed systems with time delays under the stochastic communication protocol (SCP). To avoid/alleviate the undesired data collisions, the SCP is introduced to schedule the data transmissions, under which the sensor nodes obtain access to the communication network according to a stochastic sequence with a known probability distribution. Our aim is to design a fault detection filter (FDF) such that, for all external disturbances and the transmitted measurements under the SCP, the error between the residual and the fault is made as small as possible. Based on the discrete Wirtinger-based inequality, a sufficient condition in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) is derived, which guarantees the existence of the desired FDF for any singular perturbation parameter belonging to a predefined interval. When these LMIs are feasible, the parameters of the desired FDF are explicitly given. With the booming installed capacity of permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) for wind energy generation, the grid becomes weaker and the oscillation events are frequently observed in weak-grid-tied large-scale grid-connected PMSG wind farms. Although the impedance-based method is effective to analyze the stability of grid-connected systems, the mathematical relationship between external impedance characteristics and the internal controllers has not been quantitatively analyzed in depth, which is beneficial to the controller design. This paper studies the influence of phase-locked loop (PLL) on the impedance characteristics based on the analytical sequence impedance model of PMSG with typical topology and control structure. The shaping effect of PLL on the impedance characteristics is described so as to clearly describe the relationship between the external impedance characteristics of the wind turbines and the internal controller. Finally, the stability analysis of the grid-connected PMSG wind turbine system is provided in Matlab and simulation results are given to verify the oscillating mechanism caused by PLL.

In recent years, iron and steel industry of China has developed rapidly, and steel surface defects recognition has attracted wide attention in the field of industrial inspection. Aiming at the problems of poor precision and low speed of traditional surface defect detection methods, we propose to use a fully learnable ensemble of Extreme Learning Machines (ELMs), which is ELM-IN-ELM, for defect classification. The Local Binary Pattern is adopted as the basic feature extraction method. The ELM-IN-ELM determines the final classification decision by automatically learning the output of M independent ELM sub-models. To further illustrate the superiority of the ELM-IN-ELM algorithm for classification, the Northeastern University (NEU) surface defect database is used to evaluate its classification effect. The experimental results demonstrate that this method works remarkably well for surface defects classification. Compared with other methods, the proposed method can identify the types of defects more accurately, which is of practical significance to steel surface defect detection.

This paper focuses on the study of fractional order terminal sliding mode control for nonlinear aerospace systems. Firstly, a novel fractional order integral terminal sliding mode control (FO-I-TSMC) method is proposed for the control of first order nonlinear system. FO-I-TSMC has three attractive advantages: i) Non-singular control law; ii) Elimination of the reaching phase; iii) Calculable finite convergence time. Furthermore, theory analysis is presented to reveal the potential advantages of the FO-I-TSMC method over its integer order counterparts. Secondly, a novel fractional order derivative integral-TSMC (FO-DI-TSMC) method is presented to deal with second order nonlinear system. Finally, FO-DI-TSMC is extended to deal with a general class of higher order control system. Simulation results are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

In this paper, two cooperative guidance laws based on the area around the target of multi- attackers are designed to deal with the problem of cooperative encirclement or simultaneous attack in the case of known target acceleration and unknown target acceleration. Multi-attacker commu- nication network only needs to contain a directed spanning tree, and does not require all attackers to observe the target information, where at least one can observe the target. The components along the attacker-target line of sight in the novel guidance laws can reduce the relative remaining distance between the attacker and the target at the same speed, thus completing simultaneous attack and avoiding the calculation of the remaining time. The components of the guidance laws perpendicular to the attacker-target line of sight can make the normal overload of relative motion zero, so that the trajectory will not be distorted and the collision problem within the attacker group can be avoided. A plant is controlled remotely on a network for a networked control system. Disturbances from the network and surroundings may deteriorate the control performance of such a system. To solve this problem, this paper presents a new method of suppressing an exogenous disturbance for those control systems. The control system has a state observer to estimate the state of the plant and an equivalent-input-disturbance (EID) estimator to produce an estimate of the disturbance on the control input channel in a real-time fashion. The system is divided into two subsystems for the analysis of system stability. A stability condition of the control system with a time-varying delay is presented in terms of a linear matrix inequality. Simulations demonstrate the validity of the method. And a comparative study shows the superior of our method to a conventional Smith-EID control method.

Online transmission line outage detection over the entire network enable timely corrective actions to be taken, which prevents a local event from cascading into a large scale blackout. Line outage detection aims to detect an outage as soon as possible after it happened. Traditional methods either do not consider the transient dynamics following an outage or require a full Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) deployment. Using voltage phase angle data collected from a limited number of PMUs, we propose a real-time dynamic outage detection scheme based on alternating current (AC) power flow model and statistical change detection theory. The proposed method can capture system dynamics since it retains the time-variant and nonlinear nature of the power system. The method is computationally efficient and scales to large and realistic networks. Extensive simulation studies on IEEE 39-bus and 2383-bus systems demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Multi-agent task assignment problem exists in collaborative target tracking, collaborative rescue, regional search, etc. Most researchers regarding multi-agent task assignment only consider static tasks. However, in complex scenarios, the states of tasks (e.g., Monitoring of hazardous environments) are time-varying. This type of the task can be modeled as a multi-point dynamic aggregation (MPDA) process. This paper proposes a distributed task assignment method for the MPDA task. This method firstly adopts an auction algorithm to obtain a pre-allocation planning that can ensure every task can be completed. Then, the agents who complete the pre-allocation planning will evaluate the uncompleted tasks and assist other agents to complete these tasks, so that tasks can be completed as soon as possible. Compared with the optimal solution, simulations show that the task allocation method can obtain satisfied allocation solutions with a lower computational cost. The gap from the optimal solution is only 8% on average. Especially, for problems including more than 100 tasks, the proposed method can obtain planning solutions within one second, and the makespan of the MPDA task is more than 50% better than the best one of the 1000 random sample solutions. © 2018, Curran Associates Inc. Musical staff lines detection and removal, the first step of most Optical Music Recognition (OMR) technology, aims to detect staff positions and segment score image by removing those staff lines. To deal with issues that the disappearance of thin staff lines in the captured score image, line repaired algorithm based on music rules is proposed in this paper. It first estimates two reference lengths, staff width and space between two adjacent lines. Then projection is used to obtain potential staves positions. At least the staves are finally determined based on line repaired algorithm, the missing lines repaired and the redundant lines deleted at the same time. The proposed technique is simple and effective, making full use of global information of the musical scores. Experimental results show that our method achieves impressive results on music score images captured from cameras.

The microphone array speech enhancement algorithm (MASEA), the minimum mean square error algorithm for short-time logarithmic spectrum estimation based on voice activity detection (VAD-LSA-MMSE), and the Wiener filtering algorithm based on voice activity detection (VAD-Wiener) are currently the three most commonly used speech enhancement algorithms. Among them, the MASEA algorithm has some disadvantages such as poor noise reduction effect. VAD-LSA-MMSE algorithm has some disadvantages of relying on high SNR and introducing music noise, thereby reducing the intelligibility. The VAD-Wiener algorithm has some disadvantages such as higher SNR requirements. Aiming at the shortcomings of these three speech enhancement algorithms, based on the VAD algorithm and the MASEA algorithm, this paper proposed a new speech enhancement algorithm by combining the characteristics of Wiener filtering algorithm and LSA-MMSE algorithm. The new speech enhancement algorithm is a VAD-based microphone array speech enhancement algorithm (VAD-MASEA). VAD-MASEA is better than the other three algorithms in noise reduction, speech enhancement and voice intelligibility, and has the characteristics of adapting to a lower SNR environment. This paper used MATLAB to carry out experimental research, including the new algorithm and the three existing algorithms were simulated and compared the signal waveforms of the four algorithms. Experimental results show that the proposed VAD-MASEA algorithm overcomes the high SNR requirement and can be used in low SNR environments and obtain highly intelligible enhanced signals.
