Short textual similarity has been more and more widely used in the field of natural language processing. However, people tend to pay more attention to the semantic similarity of sentences and ignore the word order similarity in sentences. For this reason, we propose a short text similarity computation model that fuses semantics and word order. In terms of semantics, we propose a adjacency-aware similarity model based on deep convolutional neural networks, which effectively exploits the adjacency relationship in sentences and extracts text features from multiple perspectives for similarity prediction. In terms of word order, a word order model incorporating an external knowledge base is proposed, which uses an external knowledge base with pointwise mutual information to construct word order dense vectors to assess word order similarity. Ultimately, we propose a comprehensive assessment model for short text similarity that incorporates semantic and word order information. We conducted experiments on the public dataset MRPC, and the experimental results show that our model outperforms existing models in terms of performance. © 2024 IEEE.

Genetic algorithms have been widely used in intelligent test paper generation systems. However, traditional genetic algorithms cannot ensure that the difficulty of test questions is normally distributed, and are prone to falling into local optimal solutions. To address the above problems, we proposed an intelligent test paper generation algorithm that combines normal distribution and parallel genetic algorithms. In the population initialization stage, we use the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the normal distribution to initialize the population. In the subsequent genetic operations, we designed a directed mutation mechanism and added KL divergence as a penalty number in the design of the fitness function to ensure that the difficulty of the test questions is normally distributed. At the same time, in order to speed up the efficiency of the algorithm and escape from the local optimal solution, an adaptive migration strategy was introduced. Experimental results show that the difficulty of the test questions generated by this algorithm is normally distributed, and the algorithm performance is better than other algorithms. © 2024 IEEE.

Multimodal Sentiment analysis Based on Contrastive Learning and Cross-Modal Guided Fusion

Multimodal sentiment analysis， which integrates text， speech， and image modalities， has emerged as a prominent research direction in artificial intelligence for precise emotion assessment. However， current techniques experience difficulties in efficiently managing redundancy and inconsistency across features from different modalities， compromising sentiment analysis accuracy. Additionally， while the analysis of intraclass emotional features has garnered substantial attention， studies of interclass relationships have been neglected. To address these challenges， a multimodal sentiment analysis method based on contrastive learning and cross-modal guided fusion (CLCGF) is proposed. This method encodes text and images to derive latent representations and employs a cross-modal guided module with sparse attention mechanisms to effectively integrate textual and visual features， thereby mitigating redundancy issues within each modality's features. In addition to the sentiment classification task， a supervised contrastive learning task is incorporated to aid the model in learning effective features from multimodal data related to emotions. To assess the efficacy of the CLCGF method， experiments were conducted on three public datasets: MVSA-Single， MVSA-Multiple and HFM. The experimental results indicate that CLCGF significantly improves sentiment analysis accuracy compared with traditional methods.

Electroencephalogram (EEG)-based seizure sub-type classification enhances clinical diagnosis efficiency. Source-free semi-supervised domain adaptation (SF-SSDA), which transfers a pre-trained model to a new dataset with no source data and limited labeled target data, can be used for privacy-preserving seizure subtype classification. This paper considers two challenges in SF-SSDA for EEG-based seizure subtype classification: 1) How to effectively fuse both raw EEG data and expert knowledge in classifier design? 2) How to align the source and target domain distributions for SF-SSDA? We propose a Knowledge-Data Fusion based SF-SSDA approach, KDF-MutuaISHOT, for EEG-based seizure subtype classification. In source model training, KDF uses Jensen-Shannon Diver-gence to facilitate mutual learning between a feature-driven Decision Tree-based model and a data-driven Transformer-based model. To adapt KDF to a new target dataset, an SF-SSDA algorithm, MutualSHOT, is developed, which features a consistency-based pseudo-label selection strategy. Experiments on the public TUSZ and CHSZ datasets demonstrated that KDF-MutualSHOT outperformed other supervised and source-free domain adaptation approaches in cross-subject seizure subtype classification. © 2024 IEEE.

With the prevalence of various intelligent educational systems, it is imperative to uncover learners' proficiency in mastering knowledge points through their prior practice circumstances. Knowledge tracking is an extremely beneficial instrument in this regard. Among them, Convolutional Knowledge Tracking (CKT) has demonstrated excellent performance in numerous KT tasks, while it does not take into account the phenomenon of forgetting and the interconnection between knowledge points. In order to tackle these problems, we propose a model called FGE-CKT, which integrates forgetting behavior and graph embedding with CKT. Our model addresses the drawbacks of forgetting characteristics by modelling three key factors affecting students' forgetting behaviors through a fully connected neural net: repeated knowledge learning times, adjacent learning interval and interval between visits to repeat knowledge. At the same time, convolutional neural networks are used to simultaneously extract and incorporate connections between knowledge points into the model's input portion. It was confirmed by experiments on two well-established datasets that FGE-CKT achieved significant improvements in AUC performance. © 2024 IEEE.

Bagging and Boosting Fine-Tuning for Ensemble Learning

Ensemble learning aggregates outputs from multiple base learners for better performance. Bootstrap aggregating (bagging) and boosting are two popular such approaches. They are suitable for integrating unstable base learners with large variance and weak base learners with large bias, respectively, but not base learners with small variance and/or bias, e.g., support vector machine, regularized logistic regression, and ridge regression. This article proposes two novel ensemble-learning-based fine-tuning approaches, boosting fine-tuning (BF) and bagging and boosting fine-tuning (BBF), to fine-tune learners with small variance and/or bias for better performance. BF embeds boosting in a single hidden layer neural network. In each iteration, BF first uses the Newton's method to generate a temporary training set, and then trains a boosting learner on it. BBF combines BF and bagging. It first uses bootstrap to obtain multiple replicas of the training set, and then trains a BF learner on each replica. Extensive experiments on 46 real-world datasets demonstrated that BBF is flexible, robust, and effective, and can fine-tune many popular classifiers to achieve better generalization performance. © 2020 IEEE.

Emotion recognition from physiological signals(ERPS)has drawn tremendous attention and can be potentially applied to numerous *** physiological signals are nonstationary time series with high sampling frequency,it is challenging to directly extract features from ***,there are 2 major challenges in ERPS:(a)how to adequately capture the correlations between physiological signals at different times and between different types of physiological signals and(b)how to effectively minimize the negative effect caused by temporal covariate shift(TCS).To tackle these problems,we propose a domain generalization and residual network-based approach for emotion recognition from physiological signals(DGR-ERPS).We first pre-extract time-and frequency-domain features from the original time series to compose a new time ***,in order to fully extract the correlation information of different physiological signals,these time series are converted into 3D image data to serve as input for a residual-based feature encoder(RBFE).In addition,we introduce a domain generalization-based technique to mitigate the issue posed by *** have conducted extensive experiments on 2 real-world datasets,and the results indicate that our DGR-ERPS achieves superior performance under both TCS and non-TCS scenarios.

Semisupervised Transfer Boosting (SS-TrBoosting)

Semisupervised domain adaptation (SSDA) aims at training a high-performance model for a target domain using few labeled target data, many unlabeled target data, and plenty of auxiliary data from a source domain. Previous works in SSDA mainly focused on learning transferable representations across domains. However, it is difficult to find a feature space where the source and target domains share the same conditional probability distribution. Additionally, there is no flexible and effective strategy extending existing unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) approaches to SSDA settings. In order to solve the above two challenges, we propose a novel fine-tuning framework, semisupervised transfer boosting (SS-TrBoosting). Given a well-trained deep learning-based UDA or SSDA model, we use it as the initial model, generate additional base learners by boosting, and then use all of them as an ensemble. More specifically, half of the base learners are generated by supervised domain adaptation, and half by semisupervised learning. Furthermore, for more efficient data transmission and better data privacy protection, we propose a source data generation approach to extend SS-TrBoosting to semisupervised source-free domain adaptation (SS-SFDA). Extensive experiments showed that SS-TrBoosting can be applied to a variety of existing UDA, SSDA, and SFDA approaches to further improve their performance. © 2020 IEEE.
