Federated Learning(FL)sufers from the Non-IID problem in practice,which poses a challenge for efcient and accurate model *** address this challenge,prior research has introduced clustered FL(CFL),which involves clustering clients and training them *** its potential benefts,CFL can be computationally and communicationally expensive when the data distribution is unknown *** is because CFL involves the entire neural networks of involved clients in computing the clusters during training,which can become increasingly timeconsuming with large-sized *** tackle this issue,this paper proposes an efcient CFL approach called LayerCFL that employs a Layer-wised clustering *** LayerCFL,clients are clustered based on a limited number of layers of neural networks that are pre-selected using statistical and experimental *** experimental results demonstrate the efectiveness of LayerCFL in mitigating the impact of Non-IID data,improving the accuracy of clustering,and enhancing computational efciency.

For visual-based robotic manipulation, it has always been a challenging task to perform real-time and accurate pose estimation of target objects under cluttered background, illumination variations, occlusion, and weak texture, especially under severe occlusion conditions. In recent years, the RGB-based methods based on vector field prediction are proved to be robustness on 6D object pose estimation under occlusion. At the same time, network with attention mechanism has achieved outstanding performance in 2D object detection. In this paper, we propose an attention-driven 6D pose estimation method with multi-constraints loss and pixel-wise voting. We calculate the distance weighted unit vector length and included angle length based on prediction results to regularize unit vectors prediction. Moreover, we introduce Dense Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling (DenseASPP) and Channel-wise Cross Attention (CCA) mechanisms into the network structure to improve the accuracy of output prediction. Experiments on LINEMOD and Occlusion LINEMOD datasets manifest that our method outperforms state-of-the-art two-stage sparse 2D keypoints prediction methods without pose refinement. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Accurate and Real-time Hierarchical Ensemble Network for Activity Classification in Construction Worker

Accurate and real-time locomotion classification is crucial for exoskeletons to assist construction workers in completing multiple tasks. However, state-of-the-art algorithms for classifying multiple activities face multifaceted challenges in both accuracy and real-time capability. In addition, advanced studies typically provide a single solution based on certain sensor combinations, which may have an indirect impact on different assistive devices (e.g., an algorithm using feet IMUs is not suited for bilateral portable hip exoskeletons or unilateral knee exoskeletons), limiting its practicality and applicability in diverse applications. To fill these two gaps, first, we developed a novel hierarchical ensemble network framework that can accurately and real-time classify 11 typical lower limb activities of construction workers. Second, building upon this hierarchical ensemble network framework, we developed 6 configurations wearing IMU sensors on different body segments, which are potentially used for different wearable devices. Experimental results with leave-one-out cross-validation obtained from 10 able-bodied subjects validated the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Compared to the baseline ANN-based algorithm, our algorithm under 6 configurations on average was able to improve accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score by 4.97%, 3.40%, 4.97%, and 5.31%, respectively, and reduce the number of parameters and inference time by 71.86% and 47.85%, respectively. This study showcases multiple solutions with different wearable sensor configurations, offering high accuracy and strong real-time performance for classifying multiple activities, which can be deployed to controllers for multiple types of assistive devices targeting construction workers. © 2013 IEEE.

"Principles of Automatic Control" is a basic course for automation majors, and the laboratory class plays a supporting role in classroom teaching and plays an important role in the autonomy and innovation of students. In order to train students to be proficient in control system analysis and design, a resonant system teaching platform was designed using a mixture of MATLAB and C++ programming. Real-time data transmission is carried out through the upper computer and the resonant system experiment platform, to achieve the interactive teaching and demonstration function. At the same time, it can visually demonstrate the teaching content of control theory from system modeling to time domain and frequency domain response analysis experiments, which can effectively improve students' understanding and comprehensive application of theoretical knowledge. © 2023 SPIE.

Protein structure prediction is an interdisciplinary research topic that has attracted researchers from multiple fields,including biochemistry,medicine,physics,mathematics,and computer *** researchers adopt various research paradigms to attack the same structure prediction problem:biochemists and physicists attempt to reveal the principles governing protein folding;mathematicians,especially statisticians,usually start from assuming a probability distribution of protein structures given a target sequence and then find the most likely structure,while computer scientists formulate protein structure prediction as an optimization problem-finding the structural conformation with the lowest energy or minimizing the difference between predicted structure and native *** research paradigms fall into the two statistical modeling cultures proposed by Leo Breiman,namely,data modeling and algorithmic ***,we have also witnessed the great success of deep learning in protein structure *** this review,we present a survey of the efforts for protein structure *** compare the research paradigms adopted by researchers from different fields,with an emphasis on the shift of research paradigms in the era of deep *** short,the algorithmic modeling techniques,especially deep neural networks,have considerably improved the accuracy of protein structure prediction;however,theories interpreting the neural networks and knowledge on protein folding are still highly desired.

Wastewater treatment plays a crucial role in alleviating water shortages and protecting the environment from *** to the strong time variabilities and complex nonlinearities within wastewater treatment systems,devising an efficient optimal controller to reduce energy consumption while ensuring effluent quality is still a bottleneck that needs to be *** this paper,in order to comprehensively consider different needs of the wastewater treatment process(WTTP),a two-objective model is to consider a scope,in which minimizing energy consumption and guaranteeing effluent quality are both considered to improve wastewater treatment *** efficiently solve the model functions,a grid-based dynamic multi-objective evolutionary decomposition algorithm,namely GD-MOEA/D,is designed.A GD-MOEA/D-based intelligent optimal controller(GD-MOEA/D-IOC)is devised to achieve tracking control of the main operating variables of the ***,the benchmark simulation model No.1(BSM1)is applied to verify the validity of the proposed *** experimental results demonstrate that the constructed models can catch the dynamics of WWTP ***,GD-MOEA/D has better optimization ability in solving the designed ***-MOEA/D-IOC can achieve a significant improvement in terms of reducing energy consumption and improving effluent ***,the designed multi-objective intelligent optimal control method for WWTP has great potential to be applied to practical engineering since it can easily achieve a highly intelligent control in WTTP.

This research aims to design and develop a decision tree model to achieve drug crime prediction in border ethnic minority areas. This study will build on previous research by examining the extent to which four different types of factors - occupation, permanent population, age, and education level - can explain drug crimes in border ethnic minority areas in 2014 and 2021. The data comes from a sample of 1,856 drug crimes. This study uses the decision tree method to reveal that drug crimes are related to occupation, permanent population, age, and education level, while ethnic identity in border ethnic minority areas is not the only factor related to drug crimes. These results show that the new framework model introduced in this study can better explain drug crimes. The research findings have important practical implications, as they show that targeting these four factors in anti-drug crime policies is crucial. © 2024 IEEE.

Recently, research on open domain dialogue systems have attracted extensive interests of academic and industrial researchers. The goal of an open domain dialogue system is to imitate humans in conversations. Previous works on single turn conversation generation have greatly promoted the research of open domain dialogue systems. However, understanding multiple single turn conversations is not equal to the understanding of multi turn dialogue due to the coherent and context dependent properties of human dialogue. Therefore, in open domain multi turn dialogue generation, it is essential to modeling the contextual semantics of the dialogue history rather than only according to the last utterance. Previous research had verified the effectiveness of the hierarchical recurrent encoder-decoder framework on open domain multi turn dialogue generation. However, using an RNN-based model to hierarchically encoding the utterances to obtain the representation of dialogue history still face the problem of a vanishing gradient. To address this issue, in this article, we proposed a static and dynamic attention-based approach to model the dialogue history and then generate open domain multi turn dialogue responses. Experimental results on the Ubuntu and Opensubtitles datasets verify the effectiveness of the proposed static and dynamic attention-based approach on automatic and human evaluation metrics in various experimental settings. Meanwhile, we also empirically verify the performance of combining the static and dynamic attentions on open domain multi turn dialogue generation. © 2023 Association for computing Machinery.
