Emotions convey information. We present an emotion understanding system to excavate information from emotions. The system infers mental states, personalities and cooperativeness of agents, related actions, and related events from agents' emotions by the rule-like meta-knowledge about emotions. Our system can be used for agents to make decisions, process knowledge, and interact with users.

For high dimensional data, the redundant attributes of samplers will not only increase the complexity of the calculation, but also affect the accuracy of final result. The existing attribute reduction methods are encountering bottleneck problem of timeliness and spatiality. In order to looking for a relatively coarse attributes granularity of problem solving, this paper proposes an efficient attribute granulation method to remove redundancy attribute. The method calculates the similarity of attributes according attribute discernibility first, and then clusters attributes into several group through affinity propagation clustering algorithm. At last, representative attributes are produced through some algorithms to form a coarser attribute granularity. Experimental results show that the attribute granulation method based on affinity propagation clustering algorithm(AGAP) method is a more efficient algorithm than traditional attribute reduction algorithm(AR). © 2013 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

Biclustering has been extensively studied in many fields such as data mining, e-commerce, computational biology, information security, etc. Problems of finding bicliques in bipartite, which are variants of biclustering, have received much attention in recent years due to its importance for biclustering. The k-biclique vertex partition problem proposed by Bein et al. is one of finding bicliques problems in bipartite. Its aim is to find k' bicliques (k'&lek) such that each vertex of the bipartite occurs in exactly one member of these bicliques. First, we give a sufficient condition of the k-biclique vertex partition problem. Moreover, we present an exact algorithm for finding k-biclique vertex partitions of a bipartite. Finally, we propose a method to generate simulated datasets used to test the algorithm. Experimental results on simulated datasets show that the algorithm can find k-biclique vertex partitions of a bipartite with relatively fast speed. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Prediction for rational synthesis based on weighted feature selection method

In this paper, a novel integrated feature selection model is proposed to analyze the relationship between the synthesis factors and the specific resulting structure on the database of AlPO synthesis. Concretely, the proposed model can select the most significant synthesis factors affecting the formation of a (6,12)-ring-containing structure by combining multiple feature selection methods. Firstly, eight feature selection methods are employed to prerank the synthesis factors based on the predictive performance of support vector machine. Then, a weighted fusion mechanism is presented to rerank the results. Finally, sequential forward floating search method is utilized to select the most significant synthesis factors in view of the highest predictive performance. A large number of experimental results show that the proposed model is efficient and feasible. The predictive accuracy can reach 86.47% with the selected 10 factors among 21 synthesis factors. The selection and ranking results also give a rational understanding for AlPO synthesis. More specifically, a proportional relationship among gel composition parameters is recommended based on the result of feature selection, which has important guiding significance for the rational design and synthesis. © 2013 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH and Co.

Increasingly widespread use of mobile devices for processing monetary transactions and accessing business secrets has created a great demand on securing mobile devices. Poorly designed authentication mechanisms (e.g., screen lock and SIM card lock) on mobile devices either make users feel a hassle to lock the devices, or are vulnerable to attacks, such as shoulder surfing and smudge attack. In this paper, we propose a new login option for unlocking mobile devices called Time-Evolving Graphical Password (TEGP), which improves the strength of the password gradually over time by evolving the distortion degree of the images in the challenge portfolio without changing the pass images. By taking advantage of the extraordinary human ability to recall images, TEGP authenticates users by asking them to recognize the pass images which are transformed from the images uploaded by the user at registration. To achieve desired security and remain the usability, we present two metrics, information Retention Rate (IRR) and Password Diversity Score (PDS), to advise the selection and distortion of the pass images and decoy images. Our experimental results show the memorability from the perspective of users, and the ability of TEGP to defend against various attacks. © 2013 ACM.

A Distributed 2D-to-3D Video Conversion System

2D-to-3D video conversion is a feasible way to generate 3D programs for the current 3DTV industry. However, for large-scale 3D video production, current systems are no longer adequate in terms of the time and labor required for conversion. In this paper, we introduce a distributed 2D-to-3D video conversion system that includes a 2D-to-3D video conversion module, architecture of the parallel computation on the cloud, and 3D video coding in the system. The system enables cooperation among multiple users in the simultaneous completion of their conversion tasks so that the conversion efficiency is greatly promoted. In the experiments, we evaluate the system based on criteria related to both time consumption and video coding performance.

Attribute reduction is one of the core research content of Rough sets theory. Many existing algorithms mainly are aimed at the reduction of consistency decision table, and very little work has been done for attribute reduction aimed at inconsistency decision table. In fact, the methods finding Pawlak reduction from consistent decision table are not suitable for inconsistency decision table. In this paper, we introduce the approximation dependency reduction modal and present the Quick Attribution Reduction based on Approximation Dependency Degree (Quick-ARADD), which can retain the original boundary region and the original positive region unchanged, and keep the approximation accuracy unchanged for all decision equivalence classes (the partition of universe on decision attributes) of a decision table. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the Quick-ARADD algorithm is effective and feasible. © 2013 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

Be aimed at the problem that the loss of aligned information which caused by the different syntactic structure between Chinese and Naxi language, we put forward a method of template extraction based on improved dependency tree-to-string which could improve the effect of translation template. First of all, the method analyzes the dependency-tree of source language and the string of target language, according to the relationship of alignment, maps the dependency-tree of source language to the string of target language. Then, according to the dependency relationship of the words in the source language, we get aligned words and the unaligned words in the source language, at the same time, merge and extend the unaligned words to the aligned words. Finally, we could extract the translation template by the recursive method. In addition, we do some comparative experiments about the improved and the former method. The experimental results show that the improved method has better effect;the Accuracy is increased by 5.14%. In the process of translation, the method can effectively solve the loss of the unaligned words. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

This paper proposes Naxi-Chinese bilingual word alignment method based on entity constraint for the characteristic that entity and entity is alignment in bilingual alignment. First, we mark the corpus of Naxi word segmentation and entity label, using Conditional Random Fields constructs the model of Naxi word segmentation and entity recognition to achieve Naxi word segmentation and entity recognition. Then, using entity alignment constraint relation of Naxi-Chinese sentence uses the specific marker to mark out bilingual entity of Naxi-Chinese sentence. Finally, we introduce features, such as fertility probabilities and distortion probabilities et al, and achieve the Naxi-Chinese bilingual alignment model by GIZA++. Naxi-Chinese bilingual word alignment experimental result shows the method proposed by this paper has better effect compared to only use IBM Models. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
