Image classification is a challenging problem in computer vision. Its performance heavily depends on image features extracted and classifiers to be constructed. In this paper, we present a new support vector machine with mixture of kernels (SVM-MK) for image classification. On the one hand, the combined global and local block-based image features are extracted in order to reflect the intrinsic content of images as complete as possible. SVM-MK, on the other hand, is constructed to shoot for better classification performance. Experimental results on the Berg dataset show that the proposed image feature representation method together with the constructed image classifier, SVMMK, can achieve higher classification accuracy than conventional SVM with any single kernels as well as compare favorably with several state-of-the-art approaches. © 2012 IFIP International Federation for information processing.

Some expanded fuzzy rough sets models have been investigated to handle fuzzy databases with uncertain, imprecise and incomplete real-valued information. In this paper, we make further research on fuzzy rough sets models in fuzzy environment, and we generalize rough fuzzy sets model based on a covering to fuzzy rough sets model based on a fuzzy covering. The lower and upper approximations of fuzzy subsets are defined based on a fuzzy covering, and basic properties are investigated. Then, the axiom definition of the lower approximation operator is given. It is shown that the rough fuzzy sets model based on a covering is a special instance of the fuzzy rough sets model based on a fuzzy covering. © 2012 IEEE.

This paper proposes a group of picture (GOP)-aware multipath source routing protocol (GMSR) for real-time moving picture experts group (MPEG) video delivery in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs).First,as existing multipath routing protocols usually produce large amount of route reply packets in a short period of time,which may cause traffic congestion,a cumulative route reply strategy (CRR) is employed in this ***,in order to enhance the reliability of the CRR,we investigate a selective route reply salvaging policy (SRRS) to protect an important route reply ***,we explore a novel cross-layer design framework according to the characteristics of MPEG video *** this basis,we introduce a GOP-aware flow control strategy (GFC) to coordinate video delivery,working together with the routing *** simulation results demonstrate that the GMSR achieves a significant improvement of the quality of real-time video streaming.

With the opinion explosion on Web, there are growing research interests in opinion mining. In this study we focus on an important problem in opinion mining - Aspect Identification (AI), which aims to extract aspect terms in entity reviews. Previous PLSA based AI methods exploit the 2-tuples (e.g. the co-occurrence of head and modifier), where each latent topic corresponds to an aspect. Here, we notice that each review is also accompanied by an entity and its overall rating, resulting in quad-tuples joined with the previously mentioned 2-tuples. Believing that the quad-tuples contain more co-occurrence information and thus provide more ability in differentiating topics, we propose a model of Quad-tuple PLSA, which incorporates two more items - entity and its rating, into topic modeling for more accurate aspect identification. The experiments on different numbers of hotel and restaurant reviews show the consistent and significant improvements of the proposed model compared to the 2-tuple PLSA based methods. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

Decoding algorithms for syntax based machine translation suffer from high computational complexity, a consequence of intersecting a language model with a context free grammar. Left-to-right decoding, which generates the target string in order, can improve decoding efficiency by simplifying the language model evaluation. This paper presents a novel left to right decoding algorithm for tree-to-string translation, using a bottom-up parsing strategy and dynamic future cost estimation for each partial translation. Our method outperforms previously published tree-to-string decoders, including a competing left-to-right method. © 2012 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Sharing Semantic Web datasets provided by different publishers in a decentralized environment calls for efficient support from distributed computing technologies. Moreover, we argue that the highly dynamic ad-hoc settings that would be pervasive for Semantic Web data sharing among personal users in the future pose even more demanding challenges for enabling technologies. We propose an architecture that is based upon the peer-to-peer (P2P) paradigm for ad-hoc Semantic Web data sharing and identify the key technologies that underpin the implementation of the architecture. We anticipate that our (current and future) work will offer powerful support for sharing of Semantic Web data in a decentralized manner and becomes an indispensable and complementary approach to making the Semantic Web a reality. © 2012 IFIP International Federation for information processing.

Adaptive associative classification with emerging frequent patterns

In this paper, we propose an enhanced associative classification method by integrating the dynamic property in the process of associative classification. In the proposed method, we employ a support vector machine（SVM） based method to refine the discovered emerging ~equent patterns for classification rule extension for class label prediction. The empirical study shows that our method can be used to classify increasing resources efficiently and effectively.

We present a hierarchical chunk-to-string translation model, which can be seen as a compromise between the hierarchical phrasebased model and the tree-to-string model, to combine the merits of the two models. With the help of shallow parsing, our model learns rules consisting of words and chunks and meanwhile introduce syntax cohesion. Under the weighed synchronous context-free grammar defined by these rules, our model searches for the best translation derivation and yields target translation simultaneously. Our experiments show that our model significantly outperforms the hierarchical phrasebased model and the tree-to-string model on English-Chinese Translation tasks. © 2012 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Pneumatic Muscle (PM) has the advantages of cheapness, light weight, compliance, safe and high power/weight. It is suitable for rehabilitation engineering. To minimize the number of PM for driving a single joint of rehabilitation, a new PM-TS actuator comprising a PM and a Torsion Spring (TS) is proposed. Unlike the traditional agonist/antagonist PM actuator, the PM is arranged in appropriate place as agonist and the torsion spring provides opposing torque as antagonist in the proposed actuator. The dynamic model of a 1-DOF (Degree of Freedom) rehabilitation robotic arm is derived considering the PM-TS actuator. To realize high accurate trajectory tracking control of the robotic arm, an Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm based Auto-Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) is proposed, where ABC is employed to optimize the control parameters of ADRC. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of PM-TS actuator, and verify that the ABC based ADRC has satisfactory performance. © 2012 Huazhong Univ of Sci & Tec.

Image annotation plays an important role in content-based image understanding, various machine learning methods have been proposed to solve this problem. In this paper, label correlation is considered as an undirected bipartite graph, in which each label are correlated by some common hidden topics. As a result, given a label, random walk with restart on the graph supplies a most related label, repeating this precedure leads to a label chain, which keep each adjacent labels pair correlated as maximally as possible. We coordinate the labels chain with its respective classifier training on bottom feature, and guide a classifier chain to annotate an image. The experiment illustrates that our method outperform both the baseline and another popular method. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
