Recently, more literatures proposed to apply audio content analysis techniques in content-based video parsing. This paper presents our works on audio classification and speaker identification techniques for video content analysis. Firstly, soundtrack extracted from video stream is partitioned into homogeneous segments using rule and support vector machine(SVM) based classifier. Secondly, fixed-length speech clips randomly selected from speech segments are clustered into several clusters based on spectral clustering techniques. The clustered speech feature datasets initialize and train Gaussian mixture model(GMM) for each speaker. Finally, the trained GMMs accomplish speaker identification. Experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed scheme.

In this paper, a technique for the extraction of roads in a high resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image is presented. And a three-step method is developed for the extraction of road network from space borne SAR image: the process of the feature points, road candidate detection and connection. Roads in a high resolution SAR image can be modeled as a homogeneous dark area bounded by two parallel boundaries. Dark areas, which represent the candidate positions for roads, are extracted from the image by a Gaussian probability iteration segmentation. Possible road candidates are further processed using the morphological operators. And the roads are accurately detected by Hough Transform, and the extraction of lines is achieved by searching the peak values in Hough Space. In this process, to detect roads more accurately, post-processing, including noisy dark regions removal and false roads removal is performed. At last, Road candidate connection is carried out hierarchically according to road established models. Finally, the main road network is established from the SAR image successfully. As an example, using the ERS-2SAR image data, automatic detection of main road network in Shanghai Pudong area is presented.

Image matching is the first step in almost any 3D computer vision task, and hence has received extensive attention. In this paper, the problem is addressed from a novel perspective, which is different from the classic stereo matching paradigm. Two images with different resolutions, that is high resolution versus low resolution are matched. Since the high resolution image only corresponds to a small region of the low resolution one, the matching task therefore consists in finding a small region in the low resolution image that can be assigned to the whole high resolution image under the plane similarity transformation, which can be defined by the local area correlation coefficient to match the interest points and rectified by similarity transform. Experiment shows that our matching algorithm can be used for scale changing up to a factor of 6. And it is successful to deal with the point matching between two images under large scale.

The peak-to-average ratio (PAPR) of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) system is one of the most important drawbacks that limit the performance of OFDM. Selected mapping (SLM) performs very well in PAPR reduction and the optimality condition for SLM has been proposed. A large number of vectors meet this condition, one of which is loosely synchronized (LS) code. Moreover, OFDM must be coded in practice, as is called coded OFDM (COFDM), which cannot meet the hypothesis of independent elements of each data block. Thus, we investigate the case of SLM using LS code as the phase vectors (called LS-SLM), and show the outstanding performance by empirical simulations in COFDM.

The peak-to-average raito (PAPR) in correlatively coded orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) system is studied. Correlative codes are proposed by large numbers of papers to significantly improve the spectral performance of OFDM with rectangular pulse. The large PAPR makes amplifier distort the signal before transmission and thus becomes one of the most serious drawbacks of OFDM. However, simulations illustrate that correlatively coded OFDM has much larger PAPR than uncoded OFDM. This makes its implementation very difficult. Selected mapping (SLM) is a promising PAPR reduction technique, which is distortionless and has good PAPR reducing performance. We use SLM to reduce the PAPR of correlatively coded OFDM, and prove that the very high spectral efficiency is not affected by the PAPR reduction. Simulations show that SLM can lower the PAPR of correlatively code OFDM efficiently without any loss of the spectral performance.
