FaceGCN: Structured Priors Inspired Graph Convolutional Networks for Blind Face Restoration

Facial image restoration has gained a tremendous progress since the increasing boom of the deep learning methods. Owing to its nature of strong ill-posedness, different categories of a-priori constraints have been harnessed or embedded in the existing deep architectures. While, as it turns to blind face restoration with more complicated degradations, the challenge becomes greater. In this paper, a further insightful step is taken by exploring the potentials of the graph convolutional networks (GCN) in conjunction with the structured priors for the blind problem. Specifically, a lightweight yet physically more intuitive model termed FaceGCN is proposed. On the one hand, a dynamic generator of facial adjacency matrices is constructed assisted by two self-supervised losses, allowing a sparse, accurate, and adaptive construction of case-specific face graphs with facial feature components as nodes. On the other hand, to model well the joint local-nonlocal correlations among various facial feature components, a kind of novel strip-attention GCN modules is correspondingly developed by splitting facial feature maps into intra- and inter-strips in both horizontal and vertical orientations, respectively. Extensive experimental results show that FaceGCN has achieved comparable or even superior performance to state-of-the-art methods, yet at a considerably less computational cost. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

Any-Angle Routing Algorithm for Microfluidic Biochips Driven by Flow Path

Continuous-flow microfluidic biochips (CFMBs) have become a hot research topic in recent years due to their ability to perform biochemical assays automatically and efficiently. For the first time, PathDriver+ takes the requirements of the actual fluid transportation into account in the design process of CFMBs and implements the actual fluid transport and removal, and plans separate flow paths for each transport task, which have been neglected in previous work. However, PathDriver+ does not take full advantage of the flexibility of CFMBs routing because it only considers the optimization of flow channel length for the global routing in the mesh model, except for the detailed routing. In addition, PathDriver+ only considers the X architecture, while the existing work shows that the any-angle routing can utilize the routing resources more efficiently and shorten the flow channel length. To address the above issues, we propose a flow path-driven arbitrary angle routing algorithm, which can improve the utilization of routing resources and reduce the flow channel length while considering the actual fluid transportation requirements. The proposed algorithm constructs a search graph based on constrained Delaunay triangulation to improve the search efficiency of routing solutions while ensuring the routing quality. Then, a Dijkstra-based flow path routing method is used on the constructed search graph to generate a routing result with a short channel length quickly. In addition, in the routing process, channel reuse strategy and intersection optimization strategy are proposed for the flow path reuse and intersection number optimization problems, respectively, to further improve the quality of routing results. Existing reference-based blind face restoration (BFR) methods tend to either focus on the detailed texture of facial components or only conduct code prediction in the latent space, often neglecting their complementary relationship. To deal with it, the integration of local and non-local lookups that interact to ensure both fine-grained details and global geometric consistency is an eminently practical yet challenging solution. Specifically, Facial Component Dictionaries and High-Quality Feature Codebooks, which are pre-constructed from a large corpus of high-quality face images, perform their own functions of low- and high-level features. Thus, we first introduce an xLSTM-based Degradation-Aware Module (DAM) to mitigate code prediction biases suffering from degradation, then develop several two-stage Global Semantic Attention Modules (GSAM) to refine the multi-scale local details by the non-local insights. Finally, our proposed method, termed Local and Non-local Lookups for BFR (LNLFace), has demonstrated comparable or even superior performance than state-of-the-art methods, on both synthetic and real-world datasets. The proportion of global mobile phone users has exceeded 60%. Meanwhile, the implantation rate of cardiac pacemakers is increasing year by year. As a result, cardiac pacemakers will inevitably be exposed to the electromagnetic environment generated by mobile phone antennas. This paper aims to evaluate the bioelectromagnetic effects from antennas radiation on the patients wearing pacemakers to determine their potential role in human health. This study uses the COMSOL Multiphysics software to analyze the E, H, specific absorption rate (SAR) distribution, and temperature-change patterns of the patient’s chest and heart over 30 min. The results show that the maximum E and H of the chest are 9.3 V/m and 0.06 A/m, and the maximum E and H of the heart are 2.67 V/m and 0.036 A/m. The SARmax value of the chest is 0.00365 W/kg, the SARmax value of the heart is 0.00212 W/kg, the maximum temperature rise of the chest is 0.00005 ℃, and the maximum temperature rise of the heart is 0.000037 ℃. The results show that the radiation level are below the limit value of ICNIRP, and will not endanger the health of people with pacemakers. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Thermal-Torsion Coupling Loading Analysis and Optimization of 3D PoP Assembly Solder Joints at Different Temperatures

A simulation analysis was conducted to investigate the stress distribution of Package-on-Package (PoP) assembly array solder joints subjected to thermal-torsional coupling loads, with the validity of the simulation confirmed through coupled loading stress-strain measurement experiments. The volume-weighted average method was employed to calculate the average equivalent stress (Δσ) of the critical solder joint danger element layer within the PoP assembly array, using Δσ as the evaluation benchmark. The impact and sensitivity of structural parameters on the thermal-torsional coupling stress of solder joints were examined. A structural parameter sensitivity model was developed to facilitate the stability and optimization analysis of the structural parameter intervals. The results indicate that solder joints in the lower array of the PoP assembly experience higher thermal-torsional coupling stress, with the peak internal stress occurring at the interface between the solder joint and the copper pad. The variation in thermal-torsional coupling stress of the array solder joints is more pronounced in the low-temperature region compared to the high-temperature region, with maximum stress occurring at -55°C and minimum stress observed at 125°C. Within the structural parameter range, the Δσ value of the critical solder joint shows a negative correlation with solder joint height, solder joint diameter, and substrate thickness, and a positive correlation with PCB thickness. The sensitivity to structural parameters follows the order: solder joint diameter, solder joint height, PCB thickness, and substrate thickness. Finally, the optimal range of structural parameters was determined, and the stability of this range was assessed. © 2011-2012 IEEE.

GLFAFormer: DeepFake forgery detection with adaptive feature extract and align

With the rapid development of generative models, there is an increasing demand for universal fake image detectors. In this paper, we investigate the problem of fake image detection for the synthesis of generative models to detect fake images from multiple generative methods. Recent research methods explore the benefits of pre-trained models and mainly adopt a fixed paradigm of training additional classifiers separately, but we find that the fixed paradigm hinders the full learning of forgery features, leading to insufficient representation learning in the detector. The main reason is that the fixed paradigm pays too much attention to global features and neglects local features, which limits the ability of the model to perceive image details and leads to some information loss or confusion. In this regard, based on the pre-trained visual language space, our method introduces two core designs. First, we designed a Deep Window Triple Attention (DWTA) module. A similar dense sliding window strategy is adopted to capture multi-scale local abnormal patterns, and the sensitivity to generated artifacts is enhanced through the triple attention mechanism. Secondly, we proposed a Cross-Space Feature Alignment (CSFA) module. A two-way interactive channel between global features and local features is established, and the alignment loss function is used to achieve semantic alignment of cross-modal feature spaces. The aligned features are adaptively fused through a gating mechanism to obtain the final adaptive forged features. Experiments demonstrate that our method, when trained solely on ProGAN data, achieves superior cross-generator generalization: it attains an average accuracy of 94.7% on unseen GANs and generalizes to unseen diffusion models with 94% accuracy, surpassing existing methods by 2.1%. During concerts, people often spontaneously record memorable moments with their phones. However, these recordings are frequently accompanied by noise, such as cheering and applause, which diminishes the playback experience. In this paper, we introduce a novel task specifically designed for denoising music in concert environments, a challenge that has been largely overlooked in previous research. To support this task, we created a new concert denoising dataset that includes songs performed in various major languages at concerts, with noise segments like cheering and applause. Building on this, we propose KANConv ECA Unet (KCE-Unet), a method that combines the U-Net network, efficient channel attention (ECA), and the recently proposed KAN network to flexibly remove noise in the mid-to-high frequency range of spectrograms. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms previous models in denoising performance and effectively restore disrupted musical structures.

This paper investigates online stochastic aggregative games subject to local set constraints and time-varying coupled inequality constraints, where each player possesses a time-varying expectation-valued cost function relying on not only its own decision variable but also an aggregation of all the players’ variables. Each player can only access its local individual cost function and constraints, necessitating partial information exchanges with neighboring players through time-varying unbalanced networks. Additionally, local cost functions and constraint functions are not prior knowledge and only revealed gradually. To learn generalized Nash equilibria of such games, a novel distributed online stochastic algorithm is devised based on push-sum and primal-dual strategies. Through rigorous analysis, high probability bounds on the regret and constraint violation are provided by appropriately selecting decreasing stepsizes. Moreover, for a time-invariant stochastic strongly monotone game, it is shown that the generated sequence by the designed algorithm converges to its variational generalized Nash equilibrium (GNE) almost surely, and the time-averaged sequence converges sublinearly with high probability. Multi-modal Entity Alignment (MMEA) aims to identify the same entities exhibited in different knowledge graphs (KGs), where the entities are enriched by structure and visual information. Existing MMEA methods learn multi-modal joint entity embeddings by encompassing both modality interaction and modality alignment. However, these approaches predominantly emphasize modality interaction and fail to adequately address the issue of modality heterogeneity. In this paper, we propose a novel approach OTMEA, which leverages optimal transport to mitigate modality heterogeneity from the perspective of modality distributions. Specifically, we view the modality alignment problem as a Wasserstein minimum distance problem involving multimodal distributions. Furthermore, our experiments indicate that employing entity-level attention weights significantly enhances modality alignment through optimal transport. The effectiveness of our method is validated through extensive experiments conducted on five public datasets. The source code is available at https://***/wonderCS1213/OTMEA.

CeO2 Modification Promotes the Oxidation Kinetics for Adipic Acid Electrosynthesis from KA Oil Oxidation at 200 mA cm−2

Electrocatalytic oxidation of cyclohexanol/cyclohexanone in water provides a promising strategy for obtaining adipic acid (AA), which is an essential feedstock in the polymer industry. However, this process is impeded by slow kinetics and limited Faradaic efficiency (FE) due to a poor understanding of the reaction mechanism. Herein, NiCo2O4/CeO2 is developed to enable the electrooxidation of cyclohexanol to AA with a 0.0992 mmol h−1 cm−2 yield rate and 87 % Faradaic efficiency at a lower potential. Mechanistic investigations demonstrate that cyclohexanol electrooxidation to AA is a gradual oxidation process involving the dehydrogenation of cyclohexanol to cyclohexanone, the generation of 2-hydroxy cyclohexanone, and subsequent C−C cleavage. Theoretical calculations reveal that electronic interactions between CeO2 and NiCo2O4 decrease the energy barrier of cyclohexanone oxidation to 2-hydroxy cyclohexanone and inhibit the *OH to *O step, leading to AA electrosynthesis with a high yield rate and FE. Kinetic analysis further elucidates the effect of CeO2 on promoting cyclohexanone adsorption and activation on the electrode surface, thus facilitating the reaction kinetics. Moreover, a two-electrode flow reactor is constructed to produce 72.1 mmol AA and 10.4 L H2 by using KA oil as the anode feedstock at 2.5 A (200 mA cm−2), demonstrating promising potential. © 2025 Wiley-VCH GmbH.
