Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) is the standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). With the development of artificial intelligence, an increasing number of studies have begun to explore its application in cancer treatment prediction. However, the prior methods exhibit considerable variability even with slight modifications to the input data, which could potentially undermine the reliability of the results. In this paper, we proposed RP-Net, a novel multi-modal fusion-based framework that combines feature information from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and whole slide images (WSI), establishing a relationship to map the therapeutic effectiveness of nCRT for LARC. We investigated the relationship of the tumour region and its periphery tissues, and demonstrated the validity of the proposed framework that involving 11 different combinations of modalities. The experimental results revealed that it has achieved higher prediction accuracy compared to the four intra-categories single-modal combinations and outperformed the two intra-categories multi-modal combinations. When compared to the other four inter-categories multi-modal combinations, the fusion features get accuracy of 2% ∼ 6% improvement respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

Emotion analysis in conversation has been a popular research topic in the natural language processing field. While much of the existing research has focused on emotion recognition in conversation, the emotion inference task in conversation is more challenging due to its specific prerequisites. In this paper, we propose EmoDamp, a novel model for the conversational emotion inference task. By referring to psychological theories, a bidirectional emotion damping network(BED Net) is designed to model the emotion generation mechanism. Furthermore, external commonsense knowledge is also used to supplement the prediction results to make them more consistent with authentic logic. Finally, a conditional random field (CRF) is used to capture the potential constraints of the emotion transfer process in conversation and simulate emotion contagion. Experimental results on two benchmark datasets demonstrate that EmoDamp outperforms the baseline model, achieving improved results on each emotion category and showcasing its effectiveness. © 2023 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). Granular clustering is an emerging branch in the field of clustering. However, the existing granular clustering algorithms are still immature in terms of weight setting of granular data and noise resistance. In this study, a weighting possibilistic fuzzy c-means algorithm for interval granularity (WPFCM-IG) is proposed. To begin with, a new weight setting method for interval granular data is given. The principle of justifiable granularity is used as the evaluation criterion of granular data, and a weight is assigned to each granular data from two perspectives of coverage and specificity to measure the quality of the granular data. In addition, the idea of possibilistic clustering is introduced, which is helpful to improve the noise resistance. And, with the proposed weights of interval granular data, the influence of data with smaller weights on the clustering results can be reduced during the clustering process. Based upon these ideas, the WPFCM-IG algorithm is put forward, and its core idea, formula derivation and implementation process are described. Finally, the performance of the proposed algorithm is verified by comparison experiments on the artificial and UCI datasets. The experimental results show that the WPFCM-IG algorithm is better than other advanced algorithms in this field in terms of reconstruction error. Next, the WPFCM-IG algorithm is smoother than other algorithms on the collaborative relationship curve between the fuzzy coefficient and the reconstruction error, so WPFCM-IG can better optimize the fuzzy coefficient. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide,significantly impairing motor and cognitive *** rehabilitation is often hindered by the heterogeneity of stroke lesions,variability in recovery patterns,and the complexity of electroencephalography(EEG)signals,which are often contaminated by *** classification of motor imagery(MI)tasks,involving the mental simulation of movements,is crucial for assessing rehabilitation strategies but is challenged by overlapping neural signatures and patient-specific *** address these challenges,this study introduces a graph-attentive convolutional long short-term memory(LSTM)network(GACL-Net),a novel hybrid deep learning model designed to improve MI classification accuracy and ***-Net incorporates multi-scale convolutional blocks for spatial feature extraction,attention fusion layers for adaptive feature prioritization,graph convolutional layers to model inter-channel dependencies,and bidi-rectional LSTM layers with attention to capture temporal *** on an open-source EEG dataset of 50 acute stroke patients performing left and right MI tasks,GACL-Net achieved 99.52%classification accuracy and 97.43%generalization accuracy under leave-one-subject-out cross-validation,outperforming existing state-of-the-art ***,its real-time processing capability,with prediction times of 33–56 ms on a T4 GPU,underscores its clinical potential for real-time neurofeedback and adaptive *** findings highlight the model’s potential for clinical applications in assessing rehabilitation effectiveness and optimizing therapy plans through precise MI classification.

High-dimensional data poses a great challenge to clustering, and subspace clustering algorithms have unique advantages when working with high-dimensional data. However, there are still some difficulties in adapting the nonlinear feature dimension, the selection and collaborative settings of kernel functions. Therefore, in this study, we come up with a feature reduction-induced subspace multiple kernel fuzzy clustering. Firstly, in order to solve the information loss caused by the nonlinear characteristics of the data, the multiple kernel clustering method is introduced, and some nonlinear features of the data are collaboratively mapped to the high-dimensional linear space, so as to better understand the characteristic information of the data. Secondly, due to the complexity of subspace and multiple kernel learning, we introduce the idea of feature reduction, and reduce the data dimension according to the importance of information, which can reduce the complexity of the algorithm on the one hand, and improve the role of important feature attributes in clustering on the other hand. Finally, the proposed RS-MKFC algorithm and the related 6 algorithms are compared on 6 ordinary datasets and 4 high-dimensional datasets, and it is found that the proposed algorithms are superior over the other 6 algorithms. At the same time, we discover the ability of RS-MKFC algorithm to screen important features as well as the function of feature reduction, and good results are achieved. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

With the increasing sophistication of musical instruments and the importance of precise tuning, a novel and efficient approach to instrument calibration is of significant necessity. This paper presents VGRISys, an innovative system leveraging robotics and artificial intelligence to facilitate the intricate process of instrument tuning. VGRISys incorporates a multi-axis robotic arm, meticulously engineered for fine-tuned physical interaction with various musical instruments, alongside an intelligent system that guides the robotic arm using real-time audio feedback analysis. In addition, it employs advanced signal processing and machine learning algorithms, allowing the system to identify pitch discrepancies and respond with appropriate corrective action. VGRISys remarkably reduces the time required for instrument tuning, thus improving efficiency and democratizing access to high-quality tuning. Furthermore, the system's machine learning capabilities allow it to refine its tuning process over repeated operations, providing a scalable solution to the ever-evolving complexities of instrument tuning. The exploration and development of VGRISys contribute significantly to the wider fields of robotics, artificial intelligence, and music technology. © 2023 IEEE.

6D pose estimation is widely used in robot tasks such as sorting and grasping. RGB-D-based methods have recently attained brilliant success, but they are still susceptible to heavy occlusion. Our critical insight is that color and geometry information in RGBD images are two complementary data, and the crux of the pose estimation problem under occlusion is fully leveraging them. Towards this end, we propose a new color and geometry feature fusion module that can efficiently leverage two complementary data sources from RGB-D images. Unlike prior fusion methods, we conduct a two-stage fusion strategy to do color-depth fusion and local-global fusion successively. Specifically, we fuse the color features extracted from RGB images into the point cloud in the first stage. In the second stage, we extract local and global features from the fused point cloud using an ASSANet-like network and splice them together to obtain the final fusion features. We conducted experiments on the widely used LineMod and YCB-Video datasets, which shows that our method improves the prediction accuracy while reducing the training time. © 2022 IEEE.

Goal-conditioned hierarchical reinforcement learning (HRL) is a promising approach in long-horizon and complex tasks. It has been successfully used by decomposing tasks via subgoals. However, the existing goal-conditioned HRL methods often suffer from training inefficiency in the long-horizon tasks with sparse external rewards. For this problem, this paper proposes a novel framework that can train high-level policy efficiently with an effective sub goal generation method. The key component of the framework is an active subgoal generation strategy which consists of (a) an efficient high-level policy learning mechanism and (b) two measures of novelty and coverage for filtering effective subgoals. We also introduce the HER mechanism to the framework to solve the problem of sparse reward in the environment. Building upon the proposed framework, this paper develops an active hierarchical exploration strategy with an efficient subgoal generation method. We test our method on a variety of continuous control tasks. Experimental results demonstrate that the strategy outperforms the state-of-the-art HRL approaches. © 2022 IEEE.
