In sentence similarity research methods, sentence similarity is often calculated from semantic aspects, however, the influence of other features is ignored. For example, the influence of sentence syntactic structure and word order on sentence similarity is not considered. Therefore, This paper proposes a method to measure the degree of similarity between sentences based on a multi-feature fusion of semantics, syntactic similarity and word order similarity, respectively. For the aspect of semantic similarity, in this paper, we first preprocess the sentence and obtain the word vectors, and then obtains sentence vector features through neural networks, so as to calculate the sentence semantic similarity; Finally, for the aspect of word order similarity, word order is considered as the auxiliary feature information to calculate sentence similarity since word order has a smaller effect on sentence similarity compared to the above information. The experimental results show that the proposed model has an accuracy of 77.4 % and an F1 value of 84.3% on the MRPC dataset.

Text coherence analysis is an important and challenging task that is essential for subtasks such as automatic summarisation, viewpoint extraction and machine translation in natural language processing (NLP). A large body of previous work has used linguistic features such as lexical, syntactic and entity features to capture relatively shallow coherence features, while ignoring deeper logically relevant features hidden in the text. We propose an end-to-end English text coherence analysis model (RGCM for short) that incorporates RST and graph convolutional neural networks (GCN). The intra- and inter-sentence logical relations of the input text are first mapped onto a discourse relationship tree, and then transformed into an RST-dependent context graph by certain pruning strategies. Subsequently, we propose a GCN-based text coherence assessment framework to capture intra- and inter-sentence interactions to assess text coherence. We conducted experiments on two different coherence assessment datasets and achieved accuracy rates of 95.5% and 97.8% respectively.

In online shopping, a person’s interest in a product is closely related to whether they will purchase it Analyzing people’s interest in various products on time, along with product recommendations, can increase purchase rates. However, in many cases, We only know user implicit feedback, such as browsing or favoriting items, and cannot directly access user explicit feedback, such as product ratings. Moreover, users have limited exposure to products, resulting in a sparse user-item matrix. The traditional Alternating Least Squares (ALS) algorithm can partially address the is of of matrix sparsity but its accuracy in recommending products based on implicit feedback alone is insufficient. This paper proposes an improved ALS algorithm that converts implicit feedback into explicit ratings. We calculate the browsing frequency of a product based on user browsing counts. For a given product, we represent user preference by suimming the browsing frequencies of all products with browsing frequencies less than or equal to that of the product. Then, by multiplying the preference level by the product’s maximum rating, we derive a product rating, achieving a transformation from implicit feedback to explicit scores. Additionally, traditional collaborative filtering algorithms often use offline data, which may not align with user current preferences. To improve the algorithm’s accuracy, we also utilize Flink for real-time data processing, allowing us to capture the most recent feedback data. This study tests the approach using the UserBehavior dataset from the publicly available Tianchi dataset. Experimental results indicate improvements in both Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE).

In English learning, speaking practice is crucial, but traditional classroom teaching can hardly meet the needs of most learners. In this paper, we investigate and improve the two essential techniques of pronunciation error detection and pronunciation quality evaluation in the computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) system. In terms of pronunciation error detection, We extracted phoneme pairs’ discriminative acoustic and phonological features. We used Support Vector Machine (SVM) for pronunciation error detection, and the accuracy was improved to 81.26%. For pronunciation quality evaluation, we added two new dimensions of pronunciation fluency and intonation, innovatively designed the word duration ratio, and introduced the Support Vector Regression (SVR) algorithm to achieve the effective integration of different dimensional features. The experiments show that the improved pronunciation quality evaluation model has higher performance and practical value.

Spiking neural P systems are a class of distributed parallel computing models inspired from the way neurons communicate with each other by means of electrical impulses (called “spikes”). In this paper, we continue the research of normal forms for spiking neural P systems. Specifically, we prove that the degree of spiking neural P systems without delay can be decreased to two without losing the computational completeness (both in the generating and accepting modes).

Unsupervised cross-modal retrieval leveraging hash learning has attracted a lot of interest from academics, primarily due to its minimal storage requirements, swift retrieval speeds, and label-free nature, making it a prime candidate for real-world applications. Nevertheless, the inherent "heterogeneous differences" and "semantic gap" within cross-modal data features pose significant challenges. Despite various attempts by scholars to address these issues, the existing solutions often fall short in terms of effectiveness. This can be attributed to several reasons: Firstly, image features, in contrast to text features, possess a plethora of attributes, making it challenging to extract features that possess strong expressive capabilities. Secondly, each modality of data exhibits not only inter-node correlations but also intricate relationships between individual nodes and their neighboring nodes. Consequently, a straightforward semantic correlation matrix is inadequate in capturing the intricate structural relationships within the data. Thirdly, the neglect of internal structural associations results in insufficient representation capabilities of binary hash codes in the Hamming space, hampering the learning of effective hash functions. To address these limitations, we introduce a Spatiality-Aligned Graph Convolution Hashing (SAGCH) algorithm. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our SAGCH method excels in both "image-to-text retrieval" and "text-to-image retrieval" tasks.

Isoforms refer to different mRNA molecules transcribed from the same gene, which can be translated into proteins with varying structures and functions. Predicting the functions of isoforms is an essential topic in bioinformatics as it can provide valuable insights into the intricate mechanisms of gene regulation and biological processes. Conventionally, gene function labels are standardized in Gene Ontology (GO) terms. However, traditional methods for predicting isoform function are largely limited by the absence of isoform-specific labels, sparse annotations, and the vast number of GO terms. To address these issues, we propose HANIso, a deep learning-based method for isoform function prediction. HANIso leverages a pretrained protein language model to extract features from protein sequences. It also integrates heterogeneous information, such as isoform sequence features, GO annotations, and isoform interaction data, using a Heterogeneous Graph Attention Network (HAN). This allows the model to learn the importance of different sources of information and their semantic relationships through the attention mechanism. Our method can predict function labels at both the gene level and isoform level. We conduct experiments on two species datasets, and the results demonstrate that our method outperforms existing methods on both AUROC and AUPRC. HANIso has the potential to overcome the limitations of traditional methods and provide a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of isoform function. © 2023 IEEE.

The anchor-free object detection method avoids the complex hyper-parameter setting problem of the traditional anchor-based method, and has more advantages in accuracy and speed. However, it still has some problems such as low precision of small-scale object detection and poor detection result under complex background. To solve this problem, an improved anchor-free object detection method based on FCOS is proposed in this paper. By adding an efficient channel attention mechanism module to the feature extraction network and using a local cross-channel interaction strategy without dimensionality reduction, the 1D convolution kernel size is adaptively selected to obtain useful dependencies between channels and improve feature extraction capability. A context extraction module is designed in feature fusion network to explore context information from multiple receptive fields and improve classification accuracy. In the training stage, DIoU loss is used to make the regression of the border more stable and accurate, and the training process converges faster. The proposed method is evaluated on COCO2017. The experimental results show that compared with the baseline FCOS method, the average accuracy of the proposed method is improved by 1.3%, which has advantages in comprehensive performance. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Power safety is closely related to people’s well-being. Electric power sectors regularly inspect and maintain power lines to guarantee people’s safe and stable use of electricity, and the current mainstream inspection method is to use UAVs for power inspection. Traditional inspection and detection methods have many shortcomings, such as high labor costs, slow inspection speed, low detection efficiency, and single detection targets. In this paper, a set of smart power inspection systems based on YOLOv7 was designed to check the common potential security risks of power lines such as bird nests, insulators, garbage, and hardware. After the detection, the detection report could be generated. The system adopted the YOLOv7 target detection algorithm. The accuracy rate of all detection targets was up to 93.9%, and the mAP @.5% reached 95.9%. Therefore, the algorithm could greatly improve the detection efficiency and greatly facilitate the electric power sectors to check power lines, so it has a high use value. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

3D object detection is an essential perception task in autonomous driving to understand the environments. The Bird's-Eye-View (BEV) representations have significantly improved the performance of 3D detectors with camera inputs on popular benchmarks. However, there still lacks a systematic understanding of the robustness of these vision-dependent BEV models, which is closely related to the safety of autonomous driving systems. In this paper, we evaluate the natural and adversarial robustness of various representative models under extensive settings, to fully understand their behaviors influenced by explicit BEV features compared with those without BEV. In addition to the classic settings, we propose a 3D consistent patch attack by applying adversarial patches in the 3D space to guarantee the spatiotemporal consistency, which is more realistic for the scenario of autonomous driving. With substantial experiments, we draw several findings: 1) BEV models tend to be more stable than previous methods under different natural conditions and common corruptions due to the expressive spatial representations;2) BEV models are more vulnerable to adversarial noises, mainly caused by the redundant BEV features;3) Camera-LiDARfusion models have superior performance under different settings with multi-modal inputs, but BEV fusion model is still vulnerable to adversarial noises of both point cloud and image. These findings alert the safety issue in the applications of BEV detectors and could facilitate the development of more robust models. © 2023 IEEE.
