In the field of railway transportation, with the continuous improvement of train running speed and the continuous increase of operating mileage, it becomes particularly important to ensure the safety and integrity of small-Target infrastructure along the railway train. Although many small-Target detection methods have been proposed, the research on small-Target infrastructure detection along rail trains is very rare. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a small-Target infrastructure detection network with spatial tracking and multi-level feature extraction based on Yolov8n. The experimental results show that ST-YOLO has a 3.6% mAP improvement on the OSDaR23 dataset compared to the baseline Yolov8n, and shows significant advantages over other state-of-The-Art methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Remote Photoplethysmography (rPPG) is a non-contact method for measuring heart rate (HR) through facial video, breaking the constraints of contact measurements and offering broad application prospects. However, in real monitoring scenarios, the distance of subjects and facial illumination often vary. This leads to degradation of rPPG signals due to changes in facial resolution and light intensity. This paper presents the High and Low Frequency Feature Adversarial Learning Network (HLFF-AL), which utilizes feature space interpolation and composite feature capture to perform multi-band global and local signal extraction. By adopting an adversarial learning strategy, it enhances the capability to capture semantic information of rPPG under varying resolutions and lighting, bridging the differences in rPPG signal generation due to resolution changes. While maintaining accuracy in HR measuring, the robustness of the network is improved to achieve robust measurement of HR via rPPG. Even under high-resolution conditions, the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) for the three public datasets - unchanging lighting (COHFACE, UBFC-rPPG) and varying lighting (BUAA-MIHR) - reached 1.10 bpm, 1.64 bpm, and 4.41 bpm, respectively, with a mere 0.29 bpm difference in MAE between high and low resolutions on the BUAA-MIHR dataset. This demonstrates that HLFF-AL can predict more robust rPPG signals in various resolutions and lighting scenarios, achieving competitive results compared to state-of-the-art methods. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

Electric Vehicle Routing Problem with Capacitated Charging Stations and Dynamic Electricity Prices

With rapid electrification of transportation systems in recent years, the electric vehicle routing problem (EVRP) has received increasing attention. In order to serve a set of valuable transportation tasks using a fleet of electric vehicles, EVRP intends to jointly determine their routes and the charging schedules, with the aim of optimizing service reward and charging cost under state of charge (SOC) constraints of battery. EVRP is a difficult nonlinear integer program, and due to its intrinsic NP-hardness early EVRP studies often oversimplify the charging process and assume unlimited capacity of charging stations and constant electricity price. The contribution of this paper lies in twofold. First, to better characterize the practical charging process, this paper introduces a new graph model that can take the charging station capacity and dynamic electricity price into full consideration. Second, we design a series of transformation techniques, including reformulation SOC dynamics, Lagrangian relaxation, exact linear programming relaxation, etc, which eventually convert the original EVRP into an approximate linear program. Extensive simulations across 14 instances demonstrate that, the proposed approach is capable of solving large-scale instances over 500 nodes, and is 100 times faster than traditional analytic methods while achieving very close optimality. While comparing with the popular heuristic method ALNS (Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search), our method is several times faster and obtains much better optimality. © 2014 IEEE.

Structural model updating based on metamodel using modal frequencies

Modal frequencies are often used in structural model updating, based on the finite element model, while the metamodel approach is often used in the respective optimization process. In this work, the Kriging model is adopted as the metamodel. First, the influence of different correlation functions of Kriging model is inspected, followed by the investigation of the approximate capability of Kriging model by inspecting the approximate accuracy of nonlinear functions. Next, a model updating procedure is proposed, based on the Kriging model, constructed using samples generated via the method of Optimal Latin Hypercube. Finally, a typical frame structure is taken as a case study, demonstrating the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed approach. The results show that, the Kriging model can match the target functions very well, while the finite element model can achieve accurate frequencies and can reliably predict the frequencies after model updating. © 2021, Gruppo Italiano Frattura. Regarding the gas scheduling issue in the coal gas systems of steel enterprises, a gas scheduling optimization model is proposed based on the multi-input and multi-output characteristics of the gas system. This model combines knowledge-based and dynamic programming approaches, utilizing production experience to establish scheduling knowledge. The model calculates the scheduling results under two scenarios: non-optimized and optimized, across various time dimensions (1 minute, 15 minutes, 30 minutes) and different production conditions (with and without blast furnace maintenance). The results from simulation experiments with field data demonstrate the model’s timeliness and practicality, providing a reasonable guide for developing gas system schemes. This model is particularly suitable for steel production enterprises with no gas holders and significant pipeline pressure fluctuations, offering a scientific and effective guidance method. This research can be applied to solve energy optimization problems in complex production systems and scenarios. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

In the field of computer-aided medicine, automated surgical gesture recognition is an important research direction. Its main applications include automated skills assessment, intraoperative guidance, and education and training systems. Current research has focused on robotic surgery, and there is less research on surgical gestures for open surgery. Therefore, in this study, a new simulated open surgery dataset was developed, and a series of surgical gestures for open surgery were defined for closure the abdomen surgery with the cooperation of professional doctors. In addition, this paper uses the classical algorithm 3DCNN and SlowFast model in the field of action recognition to perform offline recognition of surgical gestures for open surgery on the dataset. 3DCNN uses R3D and R(2+1)D models. The experimental results show that on the self-built open surgical dataset, the R3D model has the best surgical gesture recognition results, with an accuracy rate of 90.4%, a precision rate of 90.5%, and a recall rate of 90.0%. © 2024 IEEE.

A cloud platform for engineering drawing course teaching was proposed based on cloud station. The cloud station can solve the common problems existed in engineering drawing course, such as the difficulty of teaching, the heavy work of tutorship, the poor teaching effect, the weak spatial imagination of students, as well as the current difficulty to develop the virtual model resource base and the interaction is not strong. The platform uses Solidworks software to build 3D model library, and combines with CADbro's powerful cloud service and 3D file viewing function to realize the interaction and sharing with cloud model by using web browser. At the same time, we choose bilibili, a popular cultural site for teenagers, to release the explanation videos of exercises, and make use of the convenient way to build the cloud station to integrate, release and manage the resources. The platform realizes self-study and self-test at anytime and anywhere on both PC and mobile devices, and fast jumps the corresponding explanation video and cloud virtual model according to the demand. The virtual model in the cloud can be rotated, cut, distance measured, exploded, parts hidden, moved, 2D viewed and so on by touch. The platform is innovative, extensible, interesting and practical, which can greatly enhance the students' enthusiasm for independent learning, and it can be used reference to the development of engineering drawing teaching resources. © 2023 IEEE.

Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) positioning system has become the main research object in indoor positioning field due to its superior positioning performance. Accuracy at the scale of centimeters is achievable in an ideal positioning scenario. Nonetheless, the intricate and changeable indoor surroundings may cause UWB signals to propagate beyond the line-of-sight (LOS) and weaken in signal strength, resulting in a considerable reduction in the precision of positioning. In this paper, methods for identifying non-line-of-sight (NLOS) errors, alleviating NLOS errors, and integrating multi-sensor information are analyzed and studied to provide reference for improving the NLOS positioning accuracy of UWB. © 2023 IEEE.

Large rotating flexible machines are prone to vibration at high speeds, which is a difficult engineering problem. In this study, we have deeply explored its nonlinear dynamic behavior and vibration mechanism, especially considering the effect of parallel misalignment. Through mathematical modeling and MATLAB simulations, we found that the rotational speed and the amount of misalignment are the key parameters affecting the stability of the system. The results show that the rotational speed and parallel misalignment are the sensitive parameters of the system. When the amount of misalignment is 0.002 mm, with the increase of rotational speed, the elastic beam exhibits nonlinear M-type vibration, doubly periodic and chaotic behaviors, which show high-frequency abrupt excitation;when the angular speed is 50 rad/s, with the increase of the amount of misalignment from 0.001 mm to 0.1 mm, the system exhibits the transformation of doubly periodic, chaotic and proposed periodic motions, and the characteristics of intermittent vibration are significant. These results provide an important theoretical basis for suppressing its nonlinear vibration. © 2024 The Authors.
