Multi-View Graph Embedding Learning for Image Co-Segmentation and Co-Localization

Image co-segmentation and co-localization exploit inter-image information to identify and extract foreground objects with a batch mode. However, they remain challenging when confronted with large object variations or complex backgrounds. This paper proposes a multi-view graph embedding (MV-Gem) learning scheme which integrates diversity, robustness and discernibility of object features to alleviate this phenomenon. To encourage the diversity, the deep co-information containing both low-layer general representations and high-layer semantic information is generated to form a multi-view feature pool for comprehensive co-object description. To enhance the robustness, a multi-view adaptive weighted learning is formulated to fuse the deep co-information for feature complementation. To ensure the discernibility, the graph embedding and sparse constraint are embedded into the fusion formulation for feature selection. The former aims to inherit important structures from multiple views, and the latter further selects important features to restrain irrelevant backgrounds. With these techniques, MV-Gem gradually recovers all co-objects through optimization iterations. Extensive experimental results on real-world datasets demonstrate that MV-Gem is capable of locating and delineating co-objects in an image group. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

Multifunctional therapeutic peptides(MFTP)hold immense potential in diverse therapeutic contexts,yet their prediction and identification remain challenging due to the limitations of traditional methodologies,such as extensive training durations,limited sample sizes,and inadequate generalization *** address these issues,we present AMHF-TP,an advanced method for MFTP recognition that utilizes attention mechanisms and multi-granularity hierarchical features to enhance *** AMHF-TP is composed of four key components:a migration learning module that leverages pretrained models to extract atomic compositional features of MFTP sequences;a convolutional neural network and selfattention module that refine feature extraction from amino acid sequences and their secondary structures;a hypergraph module that constructs a hypergraph for complex similarity representation between MFTP sequences;and a hierarchical feature extraction module that integrates multimodal peptide sequence *** with leading methods,the proposed AMHF-TP demonstrates superior precision,accuracy,and coverage,underscoring its effectiveness and robustness in MFTP *** comparative analysis of separate hierarchical models and the combined model,as well as with five contemporary models,reveals AMHFTP’s exceptional performance and stability in recognition tasks.

Flame-retardant cotton fabric, in clothing and decoration, can reduce the damage in a fire. This study reports a facile way to prepare vermiculite-assembled cotton fabrics using layer by layer assemble technique. The vermiculite-assembled cotton fabrics synthesized are characterized by SEM, FTIR, Instron and a vertical inflammability test. The results show that vermiculite assembled on cotton fabrics could improve the mechanical property and endow the fabric with the good flame-retardant property. © TBIS 2023. All rights reserved.

Avatars, as promising digital representations and service assistants of users in Metaverses, can enable drivers and passengers to immerse themselves in 3D virtual services and spaces of UAV-assisted vehicular Metaverses. However, avatar tasks include a multitude of human-to-avatar and avatar-to-avatar interactive applications, e.g., augmented reality navigation,which consumes intensive computing resources. It is inefficient and impractical for vehicles to process avatar tasks locally. Fortunately, migrating avatar tasks to the nearest roadside units(RSU)or unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV) for execution is a promising solution to decrease computation overhead and reduce task processing latency, while the high mobility of vehicles brings challenges for vehicles to independently perform avatar migration decisions depending on current and future vehicle status. To address these challenges, in this paper, we propose a novel avatar task migration system based on multi-agent deep reinforcement learning(MADRL) to execute immersive vehicular avatar tasks dynamically. Specifically, we first formulate the problem of avatar task migration from vehicles to RSUs/UAVs as a partially observable Markov decision process that can be solved by MADRL algorithms. We then design the multi-agent proximal policy optimization(MAPPO) approach as the MADRL algorithm for the avatar task migration problem. To overcome slow convergence resulting from the curse of dimensionality and non-stationary issues caused by shared parameters in MAPPO, we further propose a transformer-based MAPPO approach via sequential decision-making models for the efficient representation of relationships among agents. Finally, to motivate terrestrial or non-terrestrial edge servers(e.g., RSUs or UAVs) to share computation resources and ensure traceability of the sharing records, we apply smart contracts and blockchain technologies to achieve secure sharing management. Task-oriented dialogue systems (TOD) aim to help users complete specific tasks through multiple rounds of dialogue, in which Dialogue State Tracking (DST) is a key component. The training of DST models typically necessitates the availability of a substantial corpus of dialogue data with turn-level annotations. However, the collection of such data is both costly and inefficient. Despite the impressive performance of systems based on advanced large language models (LLMs), their closed-source nature restricts the potential for local deployment. To address this challenge, this paper proposes a new zero-shot slot-aware enhanced model (SAE), which introduces a novel coded prompting framework to enhance the DST capability of small parameter models in new domains and task scenarios. In particular, we have devised a prompting framework that employs code to refine task instructions. Furthermore, we have proposed a slot-aware question generation mechanism that generates slot-aware questions based on contextual details in accordance with the dialogue context, thereby enhancing the model's perception and matching capabilities for slots. In order to verify the effectiveness of the model, we conducted experiments on the MultiWOZ dataset. The results show that the SAE model has achieved significant performance improvements in zero-shot DST tasks. © 2024 IEEE.

Grain inspection robots can detect abnormal information such as grain insects and impurities on the grain surface by deploying detection nodes, it has a significant for the safety of grain storage. Generally, the grey wolf optimization (GWO) algorithm has significant advantages such as fewer control parameters and easy implementation, is one of the commonly employed approaches aiming to solve the problem in many fields. However, the traditional GWO has the shortcomings such as poor population initialization diversity, slow convergence speed and easily fall into local optimal values, it is difficult to solve deployment of inspection nodes problem in the grain surface. In this study, an improved Latin Hypercube grey wolf optimization (LH-GWO) is presented to overcome the disadvantages of the traditional GWO algorithm in solving inspection node deployment problem. The LH-GWO algorithm contains two novel mechanisms which are the Latin Hypercube Sampling population initialization and an improved nonlinear convergence factor. Moreover, a grain surface boundary inspection nodes deployment strategy is proposed to optimize the location of nodes at the boundary. For verifying the effectiveness of the proposed LH-GWO, comparing with six commonly used algorithms based on benchmark functions experiment and coverage rate experiment. The experimental results demonstrate the merits of LH-GWO in terms of convergence speed, optimization accuracy and area coverage. Finally, the optimal inspection nodes are divided into three inspection regional areas by k-means algorithm clustering, and in each inspection regional area, the optimal inspection path of each robot is determined by solving the travel salesman problem (TSP). © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Spread-based elite opposite swarm optimizer for large scale optimization

To prevent the traditional particle swarm optimizer (PSO) from inefficient search in complex problem spaces, this paper presents a novel spread-based elite opposite swarm optimizer (SEOSO) for large scale optimization. Inspired by the dandelion seeds in nature, the seeds can randomly spread by wind and grow better for the next generation. To achieve this, the spread learning and elite opposite learning are introduced in SEOSO. In spread learning, the particles are divided into some subswarms and these subswarms can exchange the particles to get more useful information that improves the diversity of the swarm. In elite opposite learning, the opposite position of the particle is used to exclude the worse direction. The experiments are conducted on 35 benchmark functions to evaluate the performance of SEOSO in comparison with several state-of-the-art algorithms. The comparative results show the effectiveness of SEOSO in solving large scale optimization problems. © 2022

In this paper, a motion planning and tracking control strategy is proposed for swarm underactuated robots. First, the mathematical model of the swarm underactuated robot is established and the control characteristics are analyzed. To realize the control goal that each underactuated robot reaches the same target state from different initial states, the basis function is used to produce the trajectory of each active link, and the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to optimize the trajectory’s parameters. Then, the sliding mode controller is designed for each active link to track the planned trajectory. Finally, an experimental simulation is used to confirm the effectiveness of the suggested control strategy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
