Rechargeable batteries based on multivalent cation (Mv n + , n >1) carriers are considered potentially low-cost alternatives to lithium-ion batteries. However, the high charge-density Mv n + carriers generally lead to sluggish kinetics and poor structural stability in cathode materials. Herein, we report an Mv n + storage via intercalation pseudocapacitance mechanism in a 2D bivalve-like organic framework featured with localized ligands. By switching from conventional intercalation to localized ligand-assisted-intercalation pseudocapacitance, the organic cathode exhibits unprecedented fast kinetics with little structural change upon intercalation. It thus enables an excellent power density of 57 kW kg −1 over 20000 cycles for Ca 2+ storage and a power density of 14 kW kg −1 with a long cycling life over 45000 cycles for Zn 2+ storage. This work may provide a largely unexploited route toward constructing a local dynamic coordination microstructure for ultrafast Mv n + storage.

The study shows that the leakage of the expansion joints in the underground heating primary pipe network will lead to the fluctuation of soil temperature and conductivity around the leakage point. Based on the online monitoring of changes of physical quantities around the expansion joint, this paper established the assessment model of temperature and conductivity as the input parameters and the degree of expansion joints leakage as the output parameters, which took the radial basis function as kernel function and made use of PSO algorithm to achieve the optimization of the kernel function parameters. Then, the temperature and conductivity were predicted based on the ARIMA model, and the LS-SVM assessment of expansion joint leakage was realized according to the prediction results. Both simulation and field experiments show that the prediction model based on ARIMA has higher accuracy, which has identified the foundation for on-line prediction and accurate assessment of the expansion joint leakage in the underground heating primary pipe network. © 2018 IEEE.

Aiming at the problem of maneuvering single target tracking in over the horizon radar system under the clutter environment, a novel multiple-model multipath Bernoulli filter (MM-MPBF) algorithm is proposed. First, the multipath target measurement model is established based on the finite set statistics, and then combining the multiple models method with the multipath Bernoulli filter to deal with the single maneuvering target tracking problem in over the horizon radar system. Finally, the simulation experiment is used to verify the performance of the MM-MPBF algorithm.

—By taking full advantage of Computing, Communication and Caching (3C) resources at the network edge, Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is envisioned as one of the key enablers for the next generation network and services. However, current fixed-location MEC architecture may not be able to make real-time decision in dynamic environment, especially in large-scale scenarios. To address this issue, in this paper, a Heterogeneous MEC (H-MEC) architecture is proposed, which is composed of fixed unit, i.e., Ground Stations (GSs) as well as moving nodes, i.e., Ground Vehicles (GVs) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), all with 3C resource enabled. The key challenges in H-MEC, e.g., mobile edge node management, real-time decision making, user association and resource allocation along with the possible Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based solutions are discussed in this paper. In addition, an AI-based joint Resource schEduling (ARE) framework is proposed, with simulation results shown to verify the efficiency of our proposed framework. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. Improving Session-to-session Transfer Performance of Emotion Recognition Using Adaptive Support Vector Machine

The non-stationarity of electroencephalograph (EEG) signals has been a barrier in real-life application of EEG-based emotion recognition. The features extracted from emotional EEG vary from one session to another and a model trained on a temporally-limited EEG dataset may generalize poorly to data recorded at a different time for the same individual. In this study, the EEG features that stably characterize the differences between emotions are firstly explored. Then the classic progressive transductive support vector machine (PTSVM) is extended to three-classes classifications by a new region labelling rule, furthermore K-nearest neighbour algorithm and iterative process are utilized to improve the confidence of the predicted labels. Experimental results indicate that high gamma band local activation difference features and network features derived from prefrontal lobe, the temporal lobe on both sides, the left occipital-parietal lobe, the right occipital lobe and the posterior occipital lobe are temporally stable features for distinguishing different emotions (positive, neutral and negative). And the proposed session-to-session transfer model achieves an averaged classification accuracy 63.56% for three emotions classification on our dataset recorded from 23 subjects in three different days, which is 4% higher than the existing best adaptive classification model. Hence, the proposed classification model can effectively improve the performance of EEG-based session-to-session emotion recognition.

An electroencephalogram (EEG) based brain-computer interface (BCI) speller allows a user to input text to a computer by thought. It is particularly useful to severely disabled individuals, e.g., amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients, who have no other effective means of communication with another person or a computer. Most studies so far focused on making EEG-based BCI spellers faster and more reliable;however, few have considered their security. This study, for the first time, shows that P300 and steady-state visual evoked potential BCI spellers are very vulnerable, i.e., they can be severely attacked by adversarial perturbations, which are too tiny to be noticed when added to EEG signals, but can mislead the spellers to spell anything the attacker wants. The consequence could range from merely user frustration to severe misdiagnosis in clinical applications. We hope our research can attract more attention to the security of EEG-based BCI spellers, and more broadly, EEG-based BCIs, which has received little attention before. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. Aimed at the segmentation problem of ultrawideband synthetic aperture radar (UWB SAR) image, a novel algorithm based on polynomial analysis of statistical distribution is proposed in this letter. Firstly, we estimate the probability density function (PDF) for each pixel via sparse decomposition of which the dictionary consists of orthogonal polynomials (OP). Secondly, the weighting coefficients of corresponding OP are used to segment image using their maximum value. The experimental results validate the efficiency of this algorithm.

Wireless communication using chaotic baseband waveform

Some new properties of the chaotic signal have been implemented in communication system applications recently. They include: (i) chaos is proven to be the optimal communication waveform in the sense of very simple matched filter being used to achieve maximum signal to noise ratio;(ii) the amount of information contained in a chaotic signal is unaltered by a wireless multipath channel;and (iii) chaos property can be used to resist multipath effect. All these support the application of chaos in a practical communication system. However, due to the broadband property of the chaotic signal, it is very difficult for a practical transducer or antenna to convert such a broadband signal into a signal that would be suitable for practical band-limited wireless channel. Thus, the use of chaos property to improve the performance of conventional communication system without changing the system configuration becomes a critical issue in communication with chaos. In this paper, chaotic baseband waveform generated by a chaotic shaping filter is used to show that this difficulty can be overcome. The generated continuous-time chaotic waveform is proven to be topologically conjugate to a symbolic sequence, allowing the encoding of arbitrary information sequence into the chaotic waveform. A finite impulse response filter is used to replace the impulse control in order to encode information into the chaotic signal, simplifying the algorithm for high speed communication. A wireless communication system is being proposed using the chaotic signal as the baseband waveform, which is compatible with the general wireless communication platform. The matched filter and decoding method, using chaos properties, enhance the communication system performance. The Bit Error Rate (BER) and computational complexity performances of the proposed wireless communication system are analyzed and compared with the conventional wireless systems. Hyperchaos synchronization using univariate impulse control

Rössler and Chen systems with time delay are shown to be hyperchaotic, which exhibits a more complex dynamics, including multiple positive Lyapunov exponents and infinite dimension. The hyperchaos has better application potential where hyperchaos synchronization is concerned. Univariate impulse control requires smaller perturbation to the response system, thus promising better performance. However, synchronization of two hyperchaotic systems using this control method is a challenging task due to the difficulty to guarantee synchronization stability using a minimum number of manipulated variables. In this paper, a univariate impulse control method is proposed for the synchronization of two hyperchaotic dynamics generated by time delay. A theorem is developed and proved to provide the sufficient conditions for the synchronization of time delay systems using the univariate impulse control. The upper bound of the impulse interval is proved to guarantee the asymptotic synchronization. Simulation and circuit experiment show the correctness of the analysis and the feasibility of the proposed method.
