Deep learning methods have achieved remarkable results in the direction of image quality assessment tasks. However, most of the related studies focus only on image unimodal, ignoring the potential advantages that come with the development of cross-modal techniques. Cross-modal models have implied a wealth of information, which provides new research directions and possibilities in the field of image quality assessment. In this paper, the feasibility of cross-modal models in image quality assessment is first explored for the image quality binary classification task. Subsequently, the optimization prompting method is combined with the tuning of the image encoder in the cross-modal model so that the cross-modal model can be used for image quality assessment scoring. To verify the feasibility of the cross-modal model on the image quality assessment task, an empirical analysis was conducted on the binary image quality dataset PQD, and it was found that the F1 score improved by 18% over the baseline model. Further, we propose an adaptive cross-modal image quality assessment method AC-IQA. On the image quality scoring dataset, compared with the previous optimal methods, AC-IQA improves the PLCC and SROCC metrics on the TID2013 dataset by 5.5% and 9.5%, respectively, and on the KADID dataset by 6.2% and 5.2%. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

To solve the problem of ship heave motion in harsh marine environments, which affects the positioning accuracy and safety of its robotic arm, this paper adopts a PID parameter optimization method based on Tent cold light source improved sparrow search ***, utilizing Tent chaotic mapping to enhance the diversity of sparrow populations, and inspired by the fluorescence attraction effect in the firefly algorithm, this paper perturbs sparrows with a cold light source strategy to obtain better positions and improve their search ***, simulation experiments were conducted to optimize the PID control system using improved *** results showed that compared with the three population intelligent optimization algorithm, the improved algorithm had better convergence accuracy, system response speed, and ***, the improved algorithm was applied to the actual experiment of compensating for the heave direction at the end of a shipborne robotic *** comparison of the four algorithms in compensating for the height difference in the heave direction showed that the improved algorithm had the best heave compensation effect, reflecting the effectiveness of the algorithm in engineering *** provides a certain reference for the active compensation of swarm intelligence optimization algorithms in the heave direction of ships. © 2024 SPIE.

Biselection (feature and sample selection) enhances the efficiency and accuracy of machine learning models when handling large-scale data. Fuzzy rough sets, an uncertainty mathematics model known for its excellent interpretability, are widely used in machine learning, particularly for feature selection. While the consistent matrix has significantly improved the computational efficiency and scalability of feature selection, like most fuzzy rough set-based methods, it focuses only on feature selection and seldom incorporates sample selection. This feature-centric approach can limit classification performance, particularly in noisy and large-scale datasets where both features and samples require judicious selection. To overcome these limitations, this article explores the integration of sample selection with feature selection. First, we introduce a β-consistent granulation method to generate more accurate and concise fuzzy information granules, reducing the impact of noisy samples. In addition, a novel membership function is employed to distinguish noise while simultaneously evaluating both features and samples. As a result, a biselection algorithm with linear computation complexity is proposed to select high-quality features and samples. Numerical experiments demonstrate that, compared to eleven representative algorithms, our proposed method achieves an average accuracy improvement of 9.66% and a 933-fold increase in efficiency. © 2025 IEEE.

The global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) positioning performance is significantly degraded due to the blocking of direct signals and errors caused by reflected signals in urban canyons. Recent studies have used deep learning or machine learning methods to distinguish the line-of-sight(LOS) and non-line-of-sight(NLOS) signals to solve multi-path problems. However, these approaches still face challenges. The visibility of satellites is relatively stable in a short period, but the features of their signals change in varying degrees. Existing methods focus on the visibility identification of satellites at a single epoch, which fails to capture the effect of the temporal features of satellite signals on visibility and ignores the complex associations between satellites at multiple continual epochs. To address the above challenge, this paper develops a novel channel-independent patch transformer neural network with temporal information, for improving the prediction of GNSS satellite visibility. Firstly, to capture the influence of individual satellite features on the classifications of NLOS signals, we adopt the concept of independent channels to disentangle the various satellite features. In this way, we construct temporal variations for each feature and then independently assess the effect of these feature variations on satellite visibility. Secondly, to account for the association of multiple continuous epochs satellites, we partition the constructed temporal window feature sequences into a collection of sub-sequences level patches. This patch-level structural design preserves the semantic associations of multiple epochs satellites while also maintaining the ability to focus across a sufficient number of epochs. Choose Your Simulator Wisely: A Review on Open-source Simulators for Autonomous Driving

Simulators play a crucial role in autonomous driving, offering significant time, cost, and labor savings. Over the past few years, the number of simulators for autonomous driving has grown substantially. However, there is a growing concern about the validity of algorithms developed and evaluated in simulators, indicating a need for a thorough analysis of the development status of the simulators. To address existing gaps in research, this paper undertakes a comprehensive review of the history of simulators, proposes a utility-based taxonomy, and investigates the critical issues within open-source simulators. Analysis of the past thirty years' development trajectory reveals a trend characterized by an increase in open-source simulators and an expansion of their functionality scope. The categorization of simulators based on feature functionalities delineates five primary classes: traffic flow, sensory data, driving policy, vehicle dynamics, and comprehensive simulators. Furthermore, the paper identifies critical unresolved issues in open-source simulators, including concerns regarding the fidelity of sensory data, representation of traffic scenarios, and accuracy in vehicle dynamics simulation, all of which have the potential to undermine experimental confidence. Additionally, challenges in data format inconsistency, labor-intensive map construction processes, sluggish step updating, and insufficient support for Hardware-In-the-Loop testing are discussed as hindrances to experimental efficiency. In light of these findings, the survey furnishes task-oriented recommendations to aid in the selection of simulators, taking into account factors such as accessibility, maintenance status, and quality, while highlighting the inherent limitations of existing open-source simulators in validating algorithms and facilitating real-world experimentation. Time to First Fix (TTFF) is one of the most important measures of GNSS receiver performance. Under the hot-start mode, the receiver needs only 1 to 2 seconds for positioning. However, under the cold start mode, it takes more than 20 seconds to receive the ephemeris to obtain the accurate satellite position. This is due to the fact that current satellite orbit prediction method cannot provide position information accurately based on the old ephemeris, which is detrimental to fast positioning. To address the above challenge, we propose a novel Transformer-based model for long-term orbit corrections. The model makes full use of the time-series information of historical orbit errors and is able to capture long-term dependencies from orbit error series in different lengths. The predicted orbits can be corrected according to the predicted error components, thereby achieving accurate satellite orbit prediction. Due to the temporal patterns in the orbit error series, the features and information hidden in their complex temporal patterns are often difficult to be extracted and utilised. To tackle the intricate temporal patterns, we introduce an inner series decomposition block to deconstruct the seasonal part and trend-cyclical part from orbit errors series, which also empowers the model with immanent decomposition capacity. In addition, in order to extract the cross-time dependency within the curves as well as the cross-dimension dependency between the curves, we propose the Dual-Branch Attention (DBA) layer to capture the cross-time and cross-dimension dependency. Integrating the proposed series decomposition block and the Dual-Branch Attention(DBA) layer into Transformer, we build a Dual-branch Transformer with series decomposition (DBSD-Transformer) for long-term orbit corrections. A large number of metaheuristics have been proposed and shown high performance in solving complex optimization problems. While most variation operators in existing metaheuristics are empirically designed,new operators are automatically designed in this work,which are expected to be search space independent and thus exhibit robust performance on different *** work first investigates the influence of translation invariance, scale invariance, and rotation invariance on the search behavior and performance of some representative operators. This work then deduces the generic form of translation, scale, and rotation invariant operators, and proposes a principled approach for the automated design of operators, which searches for high-performance operators based on the deduced generic form. The experimental results demonstrate that the operators generated by the proposed approach outperform state-of-the-art ones on a variety of problems with complex landscapes and up to 1000decision variables.

End-to-End Paired Ambisonic-Binaural Audio Rendering

Binaural rendering is of great interest to virtual reality and immersive media. Although humans can naturally use their two ears to perceive the spatial information contained in sounds, it is a challenging task for machines to achieve binaural rendering since the description of a sound field often requires multiple channels and even the metadata of the sound sources. In addition, the perceived sound varies from person to person even in the same sound field. Previous methods generally rely on individual-dependent head-related transferred function(HRTF)datasets and optimization algorithms that act on HRTFs. In practical applications, there are two major drawbacks to existing methods. The first is a high personalization cost, as traditional methods achieve personalized needs by measuring HRTFs. The second is insufficient accuracy because the optimization goal of traditional methods is to retain another part of information that is more important in perception at the cost of discarding a part of the information. Therefore, it is desirable to develop novel techniques to achieve personalization and accuracy at a low cost. To this end, we focus on the binaural rendering of ambisonic and propose 1) channel-shared encoder and channel-compared attention integrated into neural networks and 2) a loss function quantifying interaural level differences to deal with spatial information. To verify the proposed method, we collect and release the first paired ambisonic-binaural dataset and introduce three metrics to evaluate the content information and spatial information accuracy of the end-to-end methods. Extensive experimental results on the collected dataset demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed method and the shortcomings of previous methods.

The explainability of deep neural networks (DNNs) is critical for trust and reliability in AI systems. Path-based attribution methods, such as integrated gradients (IG), aim to explain predictions by accumulating gradients along a path from a baseline to the target image. However, noise accumulated during this process can significantly distort the explanation. While existing methods primarily concentrate on finding alternative paths to circumvent noise, they overlook a critical issue: intermediate-step images frequently diverge from the distribution of training data, further intensifying the impact of noise. This work presents a novel Denoising Diffusion Path (DDPath) to tackle this challenge by harnessing the power of diffusion models for denoising. By exploiting the inherent ability of diffusion models to progressively remove noise from an image, DDPath constructs a piece-wise linear path. Each segment of this path ensures that samples drawn from a Gaussian distribution are centered around the target image. This approach facilitates a gradual reduction of noise along the path. We further demonstrate that DDPath adheres to essential axiomatic properties for attribution methods and can be seamlessly integrated with existing methods such as IG. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that DDPath can significantly reduce noise in the attributions-resulting in clearer explanations-and achieves better quantitative results than traditional path-based methods. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation.
