Cited frequency of academic papers (APs) or academic monographs (AMs) are used to evaluate their academic influence usually. This frequency-based method does not consider detailed citation information, e.g. citation content or context, in citing paper. Citation context or content can reveal different citing motivation and behavior of authors. Citation content analysis (CCA) of APs or AMs can improve performance of their influence assessment. AMs are different from APs and they have characteristics in many ways. If we know the difference of citation content between AMs and APs, a more appropriate CCA method for AMS will be explored based on the existing CCA method of APs. Therefore, a comparison of citation content between AMs and APs is investigated in this paper. We annotated 39 academic monographs with 13, 539 citation sentences and 7, 756 academic papers with 590, 740 citation sentences respectively. Furthermore, we compared the location, mention times and length of citation content between AMs and APs and analyzed cause of the difference. The results quantitatively show that there are differences in location and length of citation between AMs and APs, while citation mention of the two is similar.

The algorithm PRINCE proposed in ASIACRYPT 2012 is a lightweight cipher, currently suitable for the implementation on RFID Smart Card of the IoT. It's studied to achieve the optimal implementation of PRINCE encryption algorithm, and to add a fixed random mask to enhance the anti power attacking ability of PRINCE. In this paper, we constructed the same operations into a module called PrinceRound, and used counter to control the PrinceRound module, while the same round operation runs repeatedly. As a result, it can save registers and effectively reduce the amount of computation. Furthermore, we used a special method by adding the random mask to S-box. The experimental results show that the optimized PRINCE occupies area 9.8% fewer than original PRINCE on FPGA and the encryption with a fixed random mask can run correctly. Last but not least, our research is the first one about the implementation of PRINCE algorithm on FPGA, and can serve as a reference for further application of IOT encryption. © Copyright owned by the author(s).

Multifractal temporally weighted detrended cross-correlation analysis of multivariate time series

Fractal and multifractal properties of various systems have been studied extensively. In this paper, first, the multivariate multifractal detrend cross-correlation analysis (MMXDFA) is proposed to investigate the multifractal features in multivariate time series. MMXDFA may produce oscillations in the fluctuation function and spurious cross correlations. In order to overcome these problems, we then propose the multivariate multifractal temporally weighted detrended cross-correlation analysis (MMTWXDFA). In relation to the multivariate detrended cross-correlation analysis and multifractal temporally weighted detrended cross-correlation analysis, an innovation of MMTWXDFA is the application of the signed Manhattan distance to calculate the local detrended covariance function. To evaluate the performance of the MMXDFA and MMTWXDFA methods, we apply them on some artificially generated multivariate series. Several numerical tests demonstrate that both methods can identify their fractality, but MMTWXDFA can detect long-range cross correlations and simultaneously quantify the levels of cross correlation between two multivariate series more accurately.

Purpose-Isometric feature mapping(Isomap)is a very popular manifold learning method and is widely used in dimensionality reduction and data *** most time-consuming step in Isomap is to compute the shortest paths between all pairs of data points based on a neighbourhood *** classical Isomap(C-Isomap)is very slow,due to the use of Floyd’s algorithm to compute the shortest *** purpose of this paper is to speed up ***/methodology/approach-Through theoretical analysis,it is found that the neighbourhood graph in Isomap is *** this case,the Dijkstra’s algorithm with Fibonacci heap(Fib-Dij)is faster than Floyd’s *** this paper,an improved Isomap method based on Fib-Dij is *** using Fib-Dij to replace Floyd’s algorithm,an improved Isomap method is presented in this ***-Using the S-curve,the Swiss-roll,the Frey face database,the mixed national institute of standards and technology database of handwritten digits and a face image database,the performance of the proposed method is compared with C-Isomap,showing the consistency with C-Isomap and marked improvements in terms of the high *** also demonstrate that Fib-Dij reduces the computation time of the shortest paths from O(N3)to O(N2lgN).Research limitations/implications-Due to the limitations of the computer,the sizes of the data sets in this paper are all smaller than 3,***,researchers are encouraged to test the proposed algorithm on larger data ***/value-The new method based on Fib-Dij can greatly improve the speed of Isomap.

The detection of retinal vessel is of great importance in the diagnosis and treatment of many ocular diseases. Many methods have been proposed for vessel detection. However, most of the algorithms neglect the connectivity of the vessels, which plays an important role in the diagnosis. In this paper, we propose a novel method for retinal vessel detection. The proposed method includes a dense dilated network to get an initial detection of the vessels and a probability regularized walk algorithm to address the fracture issue in the initial detection. The dense dilated network integrates newly proposed dense dilated feature extraction blocks into an encoder-decoder structure to extract and accumulate features at different scales. A multi-scale Dice loss function is adopted to train the network. To improve the connectivity of the segmented vessels, we also introduce a probability regularized walk algorithm to connect the broken vessels. The proposed method has been applied on three public data sets: DRIVE, STARE and CHASE_DB1. The results show that the proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in accuracy, sensitivity, specificity and also area under receiver operating characteristic curve. We describe the Sogou neural machine translation systems for the WMT 2017 Chinese?English news translation tasks. Our systems are based on a multilayer encoder-decoder architecture with attention mechanism. The best translation is obtained with ensemble and reranking techniques. We also propose an approach to improve the named entity translation problem. Our Chinese?English system achieved the highest cased BLEU among all 20 submitted systems, and our English?Chinese system ranked the third out of 16 submitted systems. © 2017 Association for Computational Linguistics

Since the recursive nature of Kalman filtering always results in a growing size of the optimization problem, state estimation is usually realized by use of finite-memory, receding horizon, sliding window, or "frozen" techniques, which causes difficulties on stability analysis. This paper proposes a novel method on selection of an initial covariance matrix and a horizon for the Kalman filter to make sure that a sequence of the closed-loop Kalman filters are stable as time-invariant filters at subsequent time instant. Convergent properties of Riccati Difference Equation (RDE) are first exploited. Based on these properties, sufficient conditions for stability of a sequence of Kalman filters are obtained. Compared with the existent literature, the convergent properties and the stability conditions are less conservative since they provide analytic results and are applicable to more common cases where the RDEs are not monotonic. © 2017 X. The breath and feces of livestock and poultry will produce harmful gases such as ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. When the concentration of these gases exceeds the standard, they will seriously harm the health of livestock and poultry and even keepers. Fast and accurate monitoring of these harmful gases is of great significance in improving the health status of animals and keepers. Laser spectroscopy technology is an effective means of gas detection. Because of its high sensitivity and selectivity, it is widely used in gas monitoring. However, the currently adopted method of pumping sample gas detection based on the long optical path gas absorption cell is susceptible to the influence of the high ash and high humidity environment of the livestock and poultry house, causing detection errors. Open path laser absorption spectroscopy technology does not require a gas absorption cell to detect the gas concentration in free space. Based on this principle, this paper develops out the research on the open path laser absorption spectroscopy detection method for harmful gases in livestock and poultry houses, focusing on the design of laser collimation system, laser reflection system, laser focusing system, and laser detection system. The ammonia gas was used as the detection object to verify the feasibility of detecting harmful gas in livestock and poultry houses with open path laser absorption spectroscopy.

Ranking-based deep cross-modal hashing

Cross-modal hashing has been receiving increasing interests for its low storage cost and fast query speed in multi-modal data retrievals. However, most existing hashing methods are based on hand-crafted or raw level features of objects, which may not be optimally compatible with the coding process. Besides, these hashing methods are mainly designed to handle simple pairwise similarity. The complex multilevel ranking semantic structure of instances associated with multiple labels has not been well explored yet. In this paper, we propose a ranking-based deep cross-modal hashing approach (RDCMH). RDCMH firstly uses the feature and label information of data to derive a semi-supervised semantic ranking list. Next, to expand the semantic representation power of hand-crafted features, RDCMH integrates the semantic ranking information into deep cross-modal hashing and jointly optimizes the compatible parameters of deep feature representations and of hashing functions. Experiments on real multi-modal datasets show that RDCMH outperforms other competitive baselines and achieves the state-of-the-art performance in cross-modal retrieval applications.
