The phenomenon of cracks on the surface of buildings is widespread. The existence of cracks affects the normal use of buildings, shortening the service life, seriously damaging the structure of buildings, resulting in safety accidents. Therefore, regular detection and reinforcement of cracks on the surface of buildings is a necessary link to ensure safety. At present, the detection of building surface cracks is mainly carried out by manpower with means of equipment assisted. To deal with the unsatisfactory transient response of the conventional integral sliding mode control (ISMC), A nonlinear integral sliding mode controller (NISMC) is proposed in this paper, which uses a smooth nonlinear function with “small error amplification and large error saturation” property, meanwhile, takes the limited input into account. The proposed NISMC improves the transient performance, i.e., less controller chattering and less steady error. The two-tank system is usually treated as a paradigm to test the control algorithms. Five kinds of sliding-mode control methods (SMC) are used to control the two-tank liquid level to test the performance. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed NISMC has the superior performance as compared to the comparison methods.

Memristor is firstly postulated by Leon Chua and realized by Hewlett-Packard (HP) laboratory. Research results show that memristor can be used to simulate the synapses of neurons. This paper presents a class of recurrent neural network with HP memristors. Firstly, it shows that memristive recurrent neural network has more compound dynamics than the traditional recurrent neural network by simulations. Then it derives that n dimensional memristive recurrent neural network is composed of [Formula: see text] sub neural networks which do not have a common equilibrium point. By designing the tracking controller, it can make memristive neural network being convergent to the desired sub neural network. At last, two numerical examples are given to verify the validity of our result.

The Dry-hot Valley Region (DVR) is one of the typical ecologically fragile areas, but also it is a key and difficult region of vegetation rehabilitation in southwestern mountain area of China. Due to the extremely hot dry climate and strong expansion/shrinkage characteristic of soil, the cracking is a kind of extremely universal phenomenon. Soil cracking accelerates the water loss by means of evaporation, intensifying the damage of soil drought to plants, so it has become is one of the important reasons for vegetation recovery. In this paper, according to complex network theory, we analyse the degree distribution properties of two typical soil-crack network in Yuanmou Dry-hot Valley Region, which includes not only the topological characteristics of the fracture network itself, but also more important study the reflected characteristics of the soil crack under different network topologies.
