Ethylene tar is a prospective precursor for preparing carbonaceous materials,which is regarded as a representative soft carbon material after ***,the introduction of oxygen can influence the morphology of the final carbonaceous *** the introduction of oxygen,dealkylation and dehydrogenation will be promoted and the molecules can be linked more *** the subsequent carbonization,the biphenyl structures caused by the deoxygenation via the elimination of CO_(2),as well as the reserved aromatic ether bonds,can facilitate the strong cross-linking,which will restrain the movement of the carbon layers and the formation of the graphitic *** the graphitization treatment at 2800℃,the oxidized pitch can lead to short-range ordered and long-range unordered structures,while the sample without oxidation can result in long-range ordered graphitic *** can be proved that a simple oxidation-carbonization treatment can transform ethylene tar into hard carbon structures.

Metal nanoparticles decorated CoFe-(oxy)hydroxysulfides nanosheets fabricated by a general strategy for electrocatalytic water splitting

This study presents a novel method to fabricate metal-decorated,sulfur-doped layered double hydroxides(M/SLDH)through spontaneous redox and sulfurization *** developed Ag/SLDH and Pt/SLDH catalysts with abundant heterogeneous interfaces and hierarchical nanostructures demonstrated outstanding oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)performance,achieving low overpotentials of 212 and 35 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2)in 1 M KOH,*** both anode and cathode in water splitting,they required only 1.47 V to reach 10 mA cm^(-2)and exhibited high structural robustness,maintaining stability at 1000 mA cm^(-2)for 300 ***-situ Raman analysis revealed that the synergistic effects of metal nanoparticles and S doping significantly promote the transformation into the S-Co1-xFexOOH layer,which serves as the active phase for water ***,ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy(UPS)and density functional theory(DFT)analyses indicated that incorporating metal nanoparticles and S doping increase electron density near the Fermi level and reduce reaction energy barriers,thus enhancing intrinsic OER and HER *** study provides a scalable strategy for synthesizing high-performance electrocatalysts for water splitting,with promising potential for broader applications.

Transmutation of zonal twinning dislocations during non-cozone{1011}twin-twin interaction in magnesium

Theoretically,a twinning dislocation must stay on the twinning plane which is the first invariant plane of a twinning mode,because the glide of twinning dislocation linearly transforms the parent lattice to the twin ***,recent experimental observations showed that a{1011}{1012}twin variant could cross another variant during twin-twin *** is well known that{1011}twinning is mediated by zonal twinning ***,how the zonal twinning dislocations transmute during twin-twin interaction is of great interest but not well *** this work,atomistic simulation is performed to investigate interaction between{1011}twin *** results show that when an incoming twin variant impinges on the other which acts as a barrier,surprisingly,the barrier twin can grow at the expense of the incoming *** one variant consumes the *** analysis shows that the twinning dislocations of the barrier variant are able to penetrate the zone of twin-twin intersection,by plowing through the lattice of one variant and transform its lattice into the lattice of the *** lattice correspondence analysis reveals that,the lattice transformation from one variant to the other is close to{1012}{1011}twinning,but the orientation relationship deviates by a minor lattice *** deviation presents a significant energy barrier to the lattice transformation,and thus it is expected such a twin-twin interaction will increase the stress for twin growth.

Miscible disordered block copolymers(BCPs)are rarely studied due to the limits in self-assembly into ordered ***,we proposed a facile method for the transformation of disordered miscible BCPs to comb-like BCPs with well-ordered microphase separation structures via blending with amphiphilic *** this work,poly(4-vinyl pyridine-b-hydroxybutylacrylate)(P4VP-b-P4HBA)was applied as a model of miscible disordered BCPs and the microphase separation was induced via blending with surfactants of dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid(DBSA)and 3-pentadecylphenol(PDP).The ordered microstructures including spherical and cylindrical morphologies were confirmed by transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and small angle X-ray scattering(SAXS)*** ordered microstructures thermal sensitive,in which ordered and disordered transformation(ODT)was observed in the blend of P4VP-b-P4HBA and PDP whereas it disappeared in the blend of P4VP-b-P4HBA and *** results show that the thermal stability of the ordered microstructures are strongly depends on the interactions between the miscible BCPs and surfactants,which investigated by in situ SAXS and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FTIR).The combination of miscible BCPs and surfactant creates a feasible strategy to fabricate ordered nanostructures,which could be employed to develop complicated nanomaterials.

Regulating the self-assembly of rigid 2D ribbon-like amphiphilic homopolymer via tailoring its holistic conformation

Amphiphilic rigid backbone polymers are traditionally seemed as one-dimensional(1D)rods and show distinct self-assembly behavior to flexible polymers,but they could hardly adapt morphology-tunable self-assembly by changing their holistic conformation upon external *** this study,we synthesized a series of amphiphilic homopolymers poly(acetylene azobenzene oligoethylene glycol)(P(AAzo-EGx))containing conjugated polyacetylene mainchain,azobenzene pendants and oligo ethylene glycol tails in each *** comb-like amphiphilic polymer could be treated as two-dimensional(2D)nanoribbons with tunable holistic conformation via meticulous tailoring intrastrand repulsion and interchainπ-πinteraction of azobenzene pendants by light,temperature,and solvent swelling.P(AAzo-EG_(2))could self-assemble into large vesicles in ambient,whereas transformed to supramolecular helix bundles(SHBs)at 65℃as well as depicted by dissipative particle dynamics(DPD)simulation,and then turned into grass leaf-like micelles upon sequential ultraviolet(UV)and blue light *** three assemblies featured different stacking mode of PAAzo skeletons although showed similar aggregate induce emission(AIE)*** this holistic macromolecular chain conformation-induced self-assembly and morphology transformation,temperature influenced the stacking of hydrophobic parts mainly by tuning the torsion of PAAzo *** amount of good solvent played a vital role by swelling of hydrophobic PAAzo skeleton,and helping the movement and rearrangement of azobenzene pendants and polyacetylene mainchains like a *** length and diameter of SHBs could be tuned by changing *** work uncovered a facile strategy to tailor the self-assembly of rigid backbone polymers for fabrication of functional nanodevices.

Reliable calculations of nuclear binding energies by the Gaussian process of machine learning

Reliable calculations of nuclear binding energies are crucial for advancing the research of nuclear physics. Machine learning provides an innovative approach to exploring complex physical problems. In this study, the nuclear binding energies are modeled directly using a machine-learning method called the Gaussian process. First, the binding energies for 2238 nuclei with Z > 20 and N > 20 are calculated using the Gaussian process in a physically motivated feature space, yielding an average deviation of 0.046 MeV and a standard deviation of 0.066 MeV. The results show the good learning ability of the Gaussian process in the studies of binding energies. Then, the predictive power of the Gaussian process is studied by calculating the binding energies for 108 nuclei newly included in AME2020. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental data, reflecting the good predictive power of the Gaussian process. Moreover, the α-decay energies for 1169 nuclei with 50 ≤ Z ≤ 110 are derived from the theoretical binding energies calculated using the Gaussian process. The average deviation and the standard deviation are, respectively, 0.047 MeV and 0.070 MeV. Noticeably, the calculated α-decay energies for the two new isotopes ^ (204 )Ac(Huang et al. Phys Lett B 834, 137484(2022)) and ^ (207) Th(Yang et al. Phys Rev C 105, L051302(2022)) agree well with the latest experimental data. These results demonstrate that the Gaussian process is reliable for the calculations of nuclear binding energies. Finally, the α-decay properties of some unknown actinide nuclei are predicted using the Gaussian process. The predicted results can be useful guides for future research on binding energies and α-decay properties.

As one kind of the modern medical devices, various catheters are commonly used in interventional therapy, but they are prone to infection in the human body, which is a defect in clinical treatment. At present, the commonly used catheters are mostly treated with antibacterial coatings on the rubber catheters. However, there are some problems for their application, such as, easy peeling of the coating and poor durability of antibacterial *** order to solve the above problems, a kind of nano-silver antibacterial agent reduced and stabilized by Vitamin C modified chitosan was prepared, and then added into natural latex to produce an antibacterial latex with antibacterial properties from the inside to the outside. The chemical properties, mechanical properties and antibacterial properties of the samples were characterized, and the antibacterial mechanism of VC modified chitosan/nano silver was analyzed. The results showed that the antibacterial rates of the latex samples against E. coli and S. aureus reached 97.38% and 98.45%.

engineering Ru(N^N)_(3)-modified covalent organic framework for photocatalytic olefin epoxidation

Photocatalytic olefin oxidation using air as an oxidant is an environmentally friendly method for producing epoxides. Covalent organic frameworks(COFs) have emerged as promising photocatalysts in various organic synthesis reactions. The combination of tri-(2-pyridinal aldehyde)-containing precursor with 4,4’,4’’-(1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl)trianiline generated(N^N)-I-COF. Via imine-to-quinoline transformation and coordination anchorage of Ru(N^N)_(3)unit, Ru(N^N)_(3)@Q-COF was obtained with improved chemical stability, skeleton conjugation, and novel photochemical characteristics, and demonstrated excellent photocatalytic activity in olefin epoxidation with a wide range of substrates. The presence of H_(2)O played a crucial role in the formation of reactive oxygen species(ROSs), which in turn influenced the olefin oxidation process. The hydrophilicity of Ru(N^N)_(3) facilitated the approach of H_(2)O and O_(2) to the photogenerated charges, thereby promoting ROSs generation. The lipophilicity of Q-COF allowed for the absorption of olefin substrates, and its nano-channels increased encountering possibility between olefins and ROSs. Consequently, Ru(N^N)_(3)@Q-COF provided an intriguing platform for olefin photooxidation and could be recycled multiple times without any degradation in performance. This report revealed that the conversion of classical ROSs into less potent oxidants with rapid kinetic rates played a crucial role in achieving highly efficient and selective epoxidation of terminal olefins.

Compressive property and energy absorption characteristic of interconnected porous Mg-Zn-Y alloys with adjusting Y addition

In this study,interconnected porous Mg-2Zn-xY alloys with different phase compositions were prepared by various Y additions(x=0.4,3,and 6 wt.%)to adjust the compressive properties and energy absorption *** characterization methods were then applied to identify the microstructure of the porous Mg-Zn-Y and describe the details of the second *** tests were performed at room temperature(RT),200℃,and 300℃to study the impact of the Y addition and testing temperature on the compressive properties of the porous *** experimental results showed that a high Y content promotes a microstructure refinement and increases the volume fraction of the second *** the Y content increases,different Mg-Zn-Y ternary phases appear:I-phase(Mg_(3)Zn_(6)Y),W-phase(Mg_(3)Zn_(3)Y_(2)),and LPSO phase(Mg_(12)ZnY).When the Y content ranges between 0.4%and 6%,the compressive strength increases from 6.30MPa to 9.23 MPa,and the energy absorption capacity increases from 7.33 MJ/m^(3)to 10.97 MJ/m^(3)at RT,which is mainly attributed to the phase composition and volume fraction of the second ***,the average energy absorption efficiency is independent of the Y *** addition,the compressive deformation behaviors of the porous Mg-Zn-Y are altered by the testing *** compressive strength and energy absorption capacity of the porous Mg-Zn-Y decrease due to the softening effect of the high temperature on the *** deformation behaviors at different temperatures are finally observed to reflect the failure mechanisms of the struts.
