As a kind of grid-forming control method that can effectively provide virtual inertia for the power grid, the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control has received increasing attention in recent years. However, the VSG control will extract energy from the DC side during a grid frequency drop, which brings a burden on the stability of the DC side of a VSG. To address this problem, this paper establishes a fully analytical small-signal model of the VSG DC terminal impedance, incorporating both the inertia mechanism and the DC side dynamics. The accuracy of the model is validated through comparison with the sweep frequency results of the simulation. Finally, the Nyquist criterion is employed to analyze the DC stability of the VSG, and the simulation results match well with the theoretical predictions. © 2024 IEEE.

Due to the requirement of country development, geological surveys must be developed from shallow to deep. Correspondingly, the output power of transient electromagnetic method (TEM) transmitter devices, the necessary power electronic equipment in the geological survey, has to be increased. However, in the process of improving output power, the reactive power of the load occupies a large portion of the output power. Then, this part of reactive power should be compensated by the impedance matching device. The biggest difference of impedance matching devices in the geological survey is the operating environment. The operating environment is under square nonlinear current. The square nonlinear current can be decomposed into a sum of several different frequency harmonics. Previously, almost all impedance matching devices are designed to compensate for the reactive power under a single frequency. There is seldom research to tell the users the method of how to match the several impedances under a sum of several different frequency harmonics. Thus, this paper proposed a topology to match impedance in nonlinear current environments first. Then, a design method is proposed to optimize the topology parameters for better performance. At last, a comparative simulation is given to tell the advantages of the proposed topology and its design method. © 2023 IEEE.

Wind Power Prediction Based on Multi-class Autoregressive Moving Average Model with Logistic Function

The seasonality and randomness of wind present a significant challenge to the operation of modern power systems with high penetration of wind generation. An effective shortterm wind power prediction model is indispensable to address this challenge. In this paper, we propose a combined model, i.e.,a wind power prediction model based on multi-class autoregressive moving average(ARMA). It has a two-layer structure: the first layer classifies the wind power data into multiple classes with the logistic function based classification method;the second layer trains the prediction algorithm in each class. This two-layer structure helps effectively tackle the seasonality and randomness of wind power while at the same time maintaining high training efficiency with moderate model parameters. We interpret the training of the proposed model as a solvable optimization problem. We then adopt an iterative algorithm with a semi-closed-form solution to efficiently solve it. Data samples from open-source projects demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model. Through a series of comparisons with other state-of-the-art models, the experimental results confirm that the proposed model improves not only the prediction accuracy,but also the parameter estimation efficiency.

In this paper, we propose a lightweight multi-scale based attention network (MBAN) for single-image super-resolution (SISR). First, a deep feature transform block (DFTB) is designed for multi-scale feature extraction;this block combines group convolution and improved channel attention (ICA) for performance purposes while remaining sufficiently lightweight. Second, a dual multi-scale attention block (DMAB) is proposed for long-range information interaction;this block employs different window sizes for self-attention (SA) and short connections between different branches to achieve multiscale attention interaction. Finally, our MBAN is constructed by cascaded multi-scale based attention blocks (MBABs) that perform detail restoration;these blocks simultaneously extract multi-scale local features and integrate multi-scale global features with the DFTBs and DMABs. Extensive experiments suggest the superiority of our MBAN over the state-of-the-art (SOTA) lightweight SR methods in terms of both quantitative metrics and visual quality. © 2023 IEEE.

This article focuses on reactive power compensation and impedance matching of square-wave voltages. Square-wave voltage is the operating voltage in electromagnetic method (EM) exploration. The characteristics of a square-wave voltage are very different from those of a sinusoidal voltage in the power grid. Although some papers proposed impedance matching converters for square-wave voltages, they solved the high dc voltage requirement problem. The problem is caused by square-wave voltage having multiple and variable spectral components. An impedance-matching converter with an injection circuit (IMFR) for square-wave voltage is proposed. IMFR is composed of a thyristor-controlled inductor and capacitor (TCLC) part and injection circuit coupling active H-bridge part. TCLC can be controlled to resonate at the highest energy fundamental frequency for damping the largest part of the dc voltage requirement. The use of TCLC offsets the varying fundamental frequency demand on the dc voltage. First, this article gives a joint design and optimization approach for the lowest dc voltage requirement. Second, a synergistic control method of proposed IMFR is provided implementing IMFR. Third, two groups of comparative experiments show that the proposed IMFR can enlarge the current by 11.8%-38.5%. The effect on the current increase is 4.4%-7.9% higher than using only the H-bridge of the previous method when they are operated with the same dc voltage. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a rate control (RC) scheme with a linear model in versatile video coding (VVC) intercoding, our method introduces a compromise global Lagrange multiplier to minimize the distortion induced under group-of-pictures (GOP)- and frame-level bit budget constraints. To obtain the optimal solution, the corresponding problem is transformed into a convex optimization problem. Then, the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions are used to obtain the optimal quantization parameter (QP). The experimental results show that our RC algorithm achieves better coding efficiency, a better RC effect, and higher subjective quality than the default algorithm in VVC Test Model (VTM) 17.0 and other state-of-the-art algorithms. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

A transmission maintenance scheduling optimization model considering the economy and N-1 contingencies is proposed in this paper. The objectives are to complete maintenance tasks timely and minimize grid operation costs while satisfying N-1 security and other constraints. To achieve this goal, Benders decomposition is employed, and the original problem is transformed into a tree-like optimal path search model. A hierarchical backtracking search algorithm incorporating two heuristic pruning techniques is then proposed, with 1) a heuristic objective evaluated by the degree of the distribution uniformity for maintenance tasks being added to prune infeasible plans, and 2) a quality estimation method by constraint relaxation being adopted to prune poor quality plans. The test cases show the solution quality from the proposed model and algorithm is improved by nearly 50%, and the solution time is reduced by nearly an order of magnitude compared with other models and algorithms. © 2023 IEEE.

At the heart of the Internet of Things (iot) – a domain witnessing explosive growth – the imperative for energy efficiency and the extension of device lifespans has never been more pressing. This paper presents DEEP-iot, a novel communication paradigm poised to redefine how iot devices communicate. Through a pioneering "listen more, transmit less" strategy, DEEP-iot challenges and transforms the traditional transmitter (iot devices)-centric communication model to one where the receiver (the access point) play a pivotal role, thereby cutting down energy use and boosting device longevity. We not only conceptualize DEEP-iot but also actualize it by integrating deep learning-enhanced feedback channel codes within a narrow-band system. Simulation results show a significant enhancement in the operational lifespan of iot cells – surpassing traditional systems using Turbo and Polar codes by up to 52.71%. This leap signifies a paradigm shift in iot communications, setting the stage for a future where iot devices boast unprecedented efficiency and durability.
