Kinship verification is one of the interesting and critical problems in computer vision research, with significant progress in the past decades. Meanwhile, Vision Transformer (VIT) has recently achieved impressive success in many domains, including object detection, image recognition, and semantic segmentation, among others. Most of the previous work on kinship verification are based on convolutional or recurrent neural networks. Compared with the local processing of images like convolutions, transformers can effectively understand and process images globally. However, due to overuse, there are many Transformer layers of fully connected layers, and VIT speed is still an issue. Therefore, in this paper, inspired by the recent success of Transformer models in vision tasks, we propose a Transformer-based kinship verification for training and optimizing kinship verification models. We first train the basic vision transformer (VIT-B) with 12 transformer layers, then we reduce the transformer layers to 6 layers, namely VIT-S (Small Vit) and 4 layers, namely VIT-T (Tiny Vit), to make a tradeoff between optimization accuracy and efficiency. As the first attempt to apply Transformer to the kinship verification task, it provides a feasible strategy for kinship research topics and verifies the effectiveness of the method in terms of the accuracy of the experimental results. © 2022 IEEE.

Chinese short text similarity computation stands as a pivotal task within natural language processing, garnering significant attention. However, existing models grapple with limitations in handling intricate semantic relationships, such as the challenge of discerning subtle semantic nuances in text, inadequacies in effectively integrating diverse levels of semantic information, and the struggle to capture polysemous meanings accurately. In addressing these issues, this paper introduces an innovative Chinese short text similarity computation model, SMGC-SBERT. This model addresses shortcomings of the existing models by employing a multi-module fusion strategy, thereby enabling a more precise measurement of semantic similarity between texts. Primarily, the model incorporates SAT embedding to acquire phrase-level semantic information and leverages the MS-BERT model to encode text, improving the model's comprehension of textual polysemy and obtaining richer semantic representation. Then, the fusion of module features, including multi-branch convolutional networks and mix pooling, enables the extraction of textual features from varied levels, bolstering the model's representational capacity. Additionally, to further reduce overfitting risks while improving accuracy and other performance, a multi-layer feature adjustment network is utilized for short text similarity calculation. The final resultant experimental findings showcase the superiority of the SMGC-SBERT model over other neural network models, demonstrating significant advancements across both Chinese-SNLI and CCKS2018_Task3 Chinese short text datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

Object detection, a quintessential task in the realm of perceptual computing, can be tackled using a generative methodology. In the present study, we introduce a novel framework designed to articulate object detection as a denoising diffusion process, which operates on the perturbed bounding boxes of annotated entities. This framework, termed ConsistencyDet, leverages an innovative denoising concept known as the Consistency Model. The hallmark of this model is its self-consistency feature, which empowers the model to map distorted information from any temporal stage back to its pristine state, thereby realizing a "one-step denoising" mechanism. Such an attribute markedly elevates the operational efficiency of the model, setting it apart from the conventional Diffusion Model. Throughout the training phase, ConsistencyDet initiates the diffusion sequence with noise-infused boxes derived from the ground-truth annotations and conditions the model to perform the denoising task. Subsequently, in the inference stage, the model employs a denoising sampling strategy that commences with bounding boxes randomly sampled from a normal distribution. Through iterative refinement, the model transforms an assortment of arbitrarily generated boxes into definitive detections. Comprehensive evaluations employing standard benchmarks, such as MS-COCO and LVIS, corroborate that ConsistencyDet surpasses other leading-edge detectors in performance metrics. To understand a document with multiple events, event-event relation extraction (ERE) emerges as a crucial task, aiming to discern how natural events temporally or structurally associate with each other. To achieve this goal, our work addresses the problems of temporal event relation extraction (TRE) and subevent relation extraction (SRE). The latest methods for such problems have commonly built document-level event graphs for global reasoning across sentences. However, the edges between events are usually derived from external tools heuristically, which are not always reliable and may introduce noise. Moreover, they are not capable of preserving logical constraints among event relations, e.g., coreference constraint, symmetry constraint and conjunction constraint. These constraints guarantee coherence between different relation types, enabling the generation of a unified event evolution graph. In this work, we propose a novel method named LogicERE, which performs high-order event relation reasoning through modeling logic constraints. Specifically, different from conventional event graphs, we design a logic constraint induced graph (LCG) without any external tools. LCG involves event nodes where the interactions among them can model the coreference constraint, and event pairs nodes where the interactions among them can retain the symmetry constraint and conjunction constraint. Then we perform high-order reasoning on LCG with relational graph transformer to obtain enhanced event and event pair embeddings. Finally, we further incorporate logic constraint information via a joint logic learning module. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method with state-of-the-art performance on benchmark datasets. Image-text matching is an important problem at the intersection of computer vision and natural language processing. It aims to establish the semantic link between image and text to achieve high-quality semantic alignment between the two modalities. However, the existing methods have the problem that the meaning expressed in the image or the complex narrative in the text cannot be fully understood due to insufficient feature extraction. Moreover, due to the essential modal differences between images and texts, how to effectively and accurately align the semantic contents in images and texts has become the key of research. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a method based on feature enhancement and relationship interaction. When processing images, the proposed method fuses labeled features, region features and location features to represent images. When processing text, a combination of Bi-GRU and self-attention mechanism is used to represent the text. In order to further align the semantic content in images and texts accurately, this paper improves two relational interaction mechanisms by identifying connection relationships and learning association relationships. Thus, the relation enhanced embedding is obtained. Finally, it calculated the similarity of the enhanced embedding to judge the matching degree of the image and text. Extensive experiments on the public datasets Flickr30K and MSCOCO demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © 2024 IEEE.

With the advancement of computer vision technology, fish recognition plays a crucial role in various fields such as aquaculture processing and disseminating fish knowledge. In this study, we propose an enhanced and lightweight fish recognition algorithm to accomplish fish classification recognition with limited data samples. Based on the ShuffleNet V2 network, we incorporate Transfer Learning and the SE attention mechanism. Additionally, we replace the ReLu activation function with the AM-Softmax activation function. Comparative evaluations are conducted against Resnet50, MobileNet V2, MobileNet V3, and the original ShuffleNet V2 network model. Our experimental findings demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the aforementioned models, resulting in recognition accuracy improvements of 16.01%, 19.05%, 15.04%, and 14.44% respectively. The final recognition accuracy achieved is 97.20%, successfully attaining the desired outcome. © 2023 IEEE.

Segmentation of rat heart section images and infarct area quantization are essential components of infarct size measurement in processing data from animal experiments on ischemic heart disease. Previously, the task of measuring the infarct size of rat heart sections was performed manually by experienced researchers, which was very costly and time-consuming. In this paper, we propose a two-stage semi-supervised approach to solve the task of ischemic heart infarct size calculation in images of rat section images. The approach uses a semi-supervised semantic segmentation model and a semi-automated quantization algorithm to separate the differently stained regions of rat heart sections. We demonstrate the results of the approach on a rat heart section dataset, and experiments on this dataset emphasize the effectiveness of our approach compared to other methods. © 2022 IEEE.

Multi-band terahertz metamaterial absorbers offer new perspectives to achieve perfect absorption and multipoint information matching, which enable an ever-growing number of applications. In this study, a dual-band terahertz metamaterial absorber based on the metal split ring is designed. The absorber has perfect absorption peaks at 1.15 THz and 2.47 THz, and the absorption rate is more than 99%. The absorber produces a harp peak with a bandwidth of 0.008 at 2.47 THz, which has an extremely high quality factor of 308. The distribution of the electric field and surface current at two resonance points is analyzed using the finite element integration method. Through full wave simulation calculation, the maximum sensitivity of the analyte refractive index of the absorber is 400 GHz/RIU, and the maximum sensitivity of the thickness is 35 GHz/μm. The results show that the absorber can achieve highly sensitive detection of trace substances. © 2023 SPIE. All rights reserved.

Signal Return Oriented Programming (SROP) is a dangerous code reuse attack method. Recently, defense techniques have been proposed to defeat SROP attacks. In this paper, we leverage the signal nesting mechanism provided by current operating systems and propose a new variant of SROP attack called enhanced SROP (eSROP) attack. eSROP provides the ability of invoking arbitrary system calls, simulating Turing-complete computation, and even bypassing the fine-grained label-based CFI defense, without modifying the return address and instruction register in the signal frame. Because the signal returns to the interrupted instruction, the shadow stack defense can hardly detect our attack. Signal has strong flexibility which can interrupt the normal control flow. We leverage such flexibility to design a new code reuse attack. To evaluate eSROP, we perform two exploits on two real-world programs, namely Proftpd and Wu-ftpd. In our attacks, adversaries can invoke arbitrary system calls and obtain a root shell. Both attacks succeed within 10 min under strict system defense such as data execution prevention, address space layout randomization, and coarse-grained control flow integrity. © 2023, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering.
