Studies have shown that learning personal stories could help provide individualized eldercare services. However, personal stories are often disordered because of the scattered collection, including informal interviews or daily interactions, which brings difficulties in acquiring valuable information quickly. One solution to this problem is to extract events from personal stories and automatically organize them in chronological order. Events extracted by current methods from social media or news corpus are mainly organized in a linear structure. These works usually focus on the event time and ignore the consistency of event contents when organizing events. This paper aims to organize events into a tree structure based on an event network, with stem nodes representing key event topics and branch nodes representing detailed events. Social workers or caregivers can clarify the life experience of the older adults quickly through the event tree and have a preliminary understanding of them. The experiments show that the event tree generated by our method has a better performance in consistency than current event organization methods. A survey study shows that our method achieves the highest logical coherence for the event tree branches compared with other algorithms. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Gastric cancer(GC)is one of the most common cancers and ranks the third in cancer mortality all over the *** goal of this study was to identify potential hub-genes,highlighting their functions,signaling pathways,and candidate drugs for the treatment of GC *** used publicly available next generation sequencing(NGS)data to identify differentially expressed(DE)*** top DE genes were mapped to STRING database to construct the protein-protein interaction(PPI)network and top hub genes were selected for further *** found a total of 1555 DE genes with 870 upregulated and 685 downregulated genes in *** selected the top 400(200 upregulated and 200 downregulated)genes to construct a PPI network and extracted the top 15 hub *** gene ontology(GO)term and kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes(KEGG)pathway enrichment analyses of the 15 hub genes exposed some important functions and signaling pathways that were significantly associated with GC *** survival analysis of the hub genes disclosed that the lower expressions of the three hub genes CDH2,COL4A1,and COL5A2 were associated with better survival of GC *** three genes might be the candidate biomarkers for the diagnosis and treatment of ***,we considered 3 key proteins(genomic biomarkers)(COL4A1,CDH2,and CO5A2)as the drug target proteins(receptors),performed their docking analysis with the 102 meta-drug agents,and found Everolimus,Docetaxel,Lanreotide,Venetoclax,Temsirolimus,and Nilotinib as the top ranked 6 candidate drugs with respect to our proposed target proteins for the treatment against GC ***,the proposed drugs might play vital role for the treatment against GC patients.

With the rapid development of the Internet and communication technology, palette images have become a preferred media for steganography. However, the security of palette image steganography faces a big problem. To address this, we propose a multiple-level additive distortion method for security improvement in palette image steganography. The proposed multiple-level additive distortion method comprises an index-level cost method and a pixel-level cost method. The index-level and the pixel-level costs by the two methods can respectively reflect the relationship changes of adjacent indices and the pixels corresponding to the adjacent indices. Meanwhile, the index-level and the pixel-level costs can also reflect the modification impact of steganography. Therefore, the proposed method can improve the security of palette image steganography. We conducted extensive experiments on three datasets to verify the security improvement. Experiment results have shown our proposed multiple-level distortion method indeed has an advantage in security when compared with four state-of-the-art methods. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.

Bioclimatic zonation is critical for understanding how climate shapes biodiversity and biogeographic ***,existing studies have primarily focused on macroorganisms,leaving microbial communities largely *** study seeks to address this gap through extensive sampling of bacterial communities from 931 sediment samples across 199 lakes in *** on the obtained data,we identified five distinct lacustrine microbial bioclimatic zones,each showing significant differences in multiple facets of bacterial diversity(i.e.,alpha,beta,and gamma diversity)and clear bioclimatic zone-dependent microbial biogeographic ***,the alpha and beta diversity of the bacterial communities showed opposing patterns across bioclimatic *** environmental variables—specifically mean annual temperature,elevation,lake hydrological variables,and sediment pH—exerted contrasting effects on the alpha and beta diversity and played critical roles in shaping microbial community distribution at different spatial *** continental scales,predominant geographic and climatic variables dictated the patterns of bioclimatic zonation of lacustrine microbial *** regional scales,hydrological variables influenced the dispersal capacity of lake microbes,whereas sediment physicochemical variables were the most important selection factors shaping local microbial ***,our findings indicated that bioclimatic boundaries substantially enhanced the contribution of variable selection on bacterial community assembly and led to marked changes in distance-decay relationships in community ***,this study established a continental bioclimatic framework for lacustrine microbial communities,clarifying how environmental variables control microbial distributions across spatial scales,providing new insights into microbial biogeography,and advancing our knowledge about biodiversity under future climate change scenarios.

A Novel Local Search Algorithm Based on Connectivity Method and Vertex Penalty Mechanism for Minimum Weighted Connected Dominating Set Problem

The minimum weighted connected dominating set problem is a classical NP-hard problem with wide applications in practice. In this paper, an efficient local search algorithm is proposed to solve this problem. In this algorithm, firstly, an initial solution construction method based on greedy randomized adaptive strategy is adopted, which can balance the quality and the diversity of the initial solutions. Second, two new scoring functions, Ascore and Cscore, are proposed to increase the diversity of deleted vertices. Third, a new connectivity method is proposed so that the algorithm no longer relies on the shortest path between two connected components. Fourth, a vertex penalty mechanism is introduced, which helps the algorithm to jump out of the local optimum effectively. Fifth, two scoring functions, Ascore and Cscore, are combined with the vertex penalty mechanism to propose an effective vertex selection method, which helps the algorithm to select suitable vertices to be added to or removed from the current candidate solution. Finally, the propsoed local search algorithm is compared with seven state-of-the-art algorithms on three types of benchmark instances. The experimental results show that the algorithm exhibits better performance on these three types of classical benchmark instances. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Autonomous Multi-Objective Optimization Using Large Language Model

Multi-objective optimization problems (MOPs) are ubiquitous in real-world applications, presenting a complex challenge of balancing multiple conflicting objectives. Traditional multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs), though effective, often rely on domain-specific expertise for improved optimization performance, hindering adaptability to unseen MOPs. In recent years, the Large Language Models (LLMs) has revolutionized software engineering by enabling the autonomous generation and refinement of programs. Leveraging this breakthrough, we propose a new LLM-based framework that autonomously designs MOEAs for solving MOPs. The proposed framework includes a robust testing module to refine the generated MOEA through error-driven dialogue with LLMs, a dynamic selection strategy along with informative prompting-based crossover and mutation to fit textual optimization pipeline. Our approach facilitates the design of MOEA without the extensive demands for expert intervention, thereby speeding up the innovation of MOEA. Empirical studies across various MOP categories validate the robustness and superior performance of our proposed framework. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

Explainable Application Intent for Zero-Touch Networking: An Incorporation of Hypergraph and Transformer

The autonomous interpretation of application intent (APPI) represents the primary step towards achieving closed-loop autonomy in zero-touch networking (ZTN) and also a prerequisite for intent-based networking (IBN). However, understanding APPIs and invoking the corresponding network resources require network professionals with extensive technical expertise to customize network service requests (NSRs), which presents significant challenges for the large-scale deployment of ZTN. This paper investigates an interesting problem of autonomous interpretation of APPIs for ZTN, where a novel mechanism integrating hypergraph and transformer with completeness assurance (HyperTrans-CA) is proposed. In particular, we first involve the Bayesian theory to model APPIs interpretability as maximizing the correct transition probability, where hypergraph is used to describe the complex relationship between application characteristics (e.g., scenario function, and performance) and NSRs, including network devices, virtual network functions (VNFs), and resources. Then, the hypergraph is integrated into the encoder, decoder, and attention mechanisms of Transformer, and a completeness assurance mechanism is designed to improve the prediction accuracy. The convergence of HyperTrans-CA and the corresponding convergence speed of the hypergraph-boosted Transformer in the graph search process are also analyzed. Comprehensive simulations and empirical measurements regarding industrial internet demonstrate that HyperTrans-CA can effectively explain/understand APPIs. Compared to the state-of-the-art Transformer and ChatGPT3.5 models, HyperTrans-CA improves the prediction accuracy of APPIs mapped to VNFs by 23% and 46%, respectively, while raising the prediction accuracy of VNF locations by 8.6 and 17.3 times. © 2025 IEEE.

Recently, digital economy in social science has become increasingly significant. A well-constructed evaluation structure could generally and promptly describe and reveal its overall social digitalization development. Building on existent researches, this paper improves the evaluation system, which comprises four first-level indicators and thirty-one second-level indicators. Notably, this paper innovatively incorporates higher education into digital innovation of the evaluation. The Entropy method is utilized to assign weights to various indicators in an objective way, with employing the TOPSIS approach to prioritize the development of digital economy in places based on the closeness to the ideal solution. By analysing related data related from 31 provinces in China between 2017 to 2021, this paper greatly finds: Firstly, the development of digital economy vary significantly across provinces, with most provinces at a relatively poor level, indicating considerable potential for overall growth;Secondly, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shandong consistently ranked in the top four from 2017 to 2021, reflecting their specific development attributes and their emphasis on digital economy;Thirdly, significant disparities exist both between regions and among provinces. Consequently, this paper suggests establishing a comprehensive national digital economy development plan, formulating region-specific digital economy policies tailored to local conditions, and encouraging leading provinces to actively share experiences with other provinces. © 2024 The Authors.

Topographic/bathymetric conditions of the continental shelf can significantly influence the long-term growth of river *** particular,these conditions constrain the accommodation space for sedimentation in the deltaic *** this study,we use a conceptual geometric model to evaluate the role played by this factor,on the basis of the principle of mass *** Ganges-Brahmaputra,Mekong and Nile deltas are examined as three typical examples,in terms of their different original seabed *** control variate method is applied to eliminate the effect of the difference in model input *** results show that,assuming a constant sediment load,the delta growth rate will decrease with time;a higher value of the original seabed slope leads to a lower shoreline progradation rate for the subaerial delta and a higher growth rate for the subaqueous ***,the original seabed morphology represented by slope is a critical factor affecting the evolution of Holocene large-river *** results explain the interrelationships between sediment load,deltaic plain area,and the original seabed slopes for the 27 large-river deltas worldwide,located in the middle/low latitudes,with different tectonic *** the future,the conceptual geometric model may be combined with sediment dynamic modeling to identify more details of the evolution of these deltas.
