360-degree video has shown great potential to the mainstream since its immersive experience. However, 360-degree video streaming requires ultrahigh bandwidth and low latency, which limit the improvement of user quality of experience (QoE). Currently, methods combining field of view (FoV) prediction and adaptive video streaming provide an effective method for addressing the above issues. However, existing FoV prediction methods based on recurrent neural networks (RNN) cannot capture long-range dependency from input to output. Current deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-based adaptive strategies fail to estimate the future bandwidth with high accuracy and fully explore the capability of VR devices. To ameliorate these limitations, we design a DRL-based 360-degree video streaming method named VRFormer with FoV combined prediction and super resolution (SR). First, we adopt a content-aware transformer-based encoder-decoder network to make the long-term FoV prediction. It combines the user's head movement history, eye-tracking history, and user attention extracted from a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based network. Second, we introduce a DNN-based SR network running on VR devices to reconstruct high-definition video content. Finally, we apply a DRL-based network to adaptively allocate rates for future tiles and dynamically control video content reconstruction. Experiments have verified that the proposed method can effectively improve the quality of experience (QoE) of the user's viewing experience compared to the state-of-the-art methods.

The spatial distribution of rainfall in urban areas has a significant impact on urban rainfall-runoff processes. Wind can affect raindrop trajectories and thus affect the spatial distribution of rainfall. Due to the obstructive effect of building facades, the influence of wind on the distribution of rainfall is more pronounced in urban areas. In this study, we proposed a method to detect the spatial distribution of rainfall in urban high-rise residential areas based on computational fluid dynamics modeling. The variation of rainfall distribution and the ratio of rainfall on builds to that on the ground with changes in wind speed was analyzed using the proposed method. The results show that: (1) the spatial distribution of rainfall intensity on the ground in the high-rise residential area becomes increasingly uneven with the increase in the wind speed. (2) wind can lead to an increase in the total rainfall in the high-rise residential area by more than twice. (3) the ratio of rainfall on buildings to that on the ground increases significantly with the increasing wind speed. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

MEFA-Net: A mask enhanced feature aggregation network for polyp segmentation

Accurate polyp segmentation is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer. This is a challenging task for three main reasons: (i) the problem of model overfitting and weak generalization due to the multi-center distribution of data;(ii) the problem of interclass ambiguity caused by motion blur and overexposure to endoscopic light;and (iii) the problem of intraclass inconsistency caused by the variety of morphologies and sizes of the same type of polyps. To address these challenges, we propose a new high-precision polyp segmentation framework, MEFA-Net, which consists of three modules, including the plug-and-play Mask Enhancement Module (MEG), Separable Path Attention Enhancement Module (SPAE), and Dynamic Global Attention Pool Module (DGAP). Specifically, firstly, the MEG module regionally masks the high-energy regions of the environment and polyps through a mask, which guides the model to rely on only a small amount of information to distinguish between polyps and background features, avoiding the model from overfitting the environmental information, and improving the robustness of the model. At the same time, this module can effectively counteract the "dark corner phenomenon" in the dataset and further improve the generalization performance of the model. Next, the SPAE module can effectively alleviate the inter-class fuzzy problem by strengthening the feature expression. Then, the DGAP module solves the intra-class inconsistency problem by extracting the invariance of scale, shape and position. Finally, we propose a new evaluation metric, MultiColoScore, for comprehensively evaluating the segmentation performance of the model on five datasets with different domains. We evaluated the new method quantitatively and qualitatively on five datasets using four metrics. Experimental results show that MEFA-Net significantly improves the accuracy of polyp segmentation and outperforms current state-of-the-art algorithms. Code posted on https://***/

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) offers low-latency and high-bandwidth support for Internet-of-Vehicles (IoV) applications. However, due to high vehicle mobility and finite communication coverage of base stations, it is hard to maintain uninterrupted and high-quality services without proper service migration among MEC servers. Existing solutions commonly rely on prior knowledge and rarely consider efficient resource allocation during the service migration process, making it hard to reach optimal performance in dynamic IoV environments. To address these important challenges, we propose SR-CL, a novel mobility-aware seamless Service migration and Resource allocation framework via Convex-optimization-enabled deep reinforcement Learning in multi-edge IoV systems. First, we decouple the Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) problem of service migration and resource allocation into two sub-problems. Next, we design a new actor-critic-based asynchronous-update deep reinforcement learning method to handle service migration, where the delayed-update actor makes migration decisions and the one-step-update critic evaluates the decisions to guide the policy update. Notably, we theoretically derive the optimal resource allocation with convex optimization for each MEC server, thereby further improving system performance. Using the real-world datasets of vehicle trajectories and testbed, extensive experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed SR-CL. Compared to benchmark methods, the SR-CL achieves superior convergence and delay performance under various scenarios. © 2025 IEEE.

Network monitoring and measurement is an important part of realizing the network digital twin. However, it introduces the problem of high cost when obtaining the status data of physical networks. Therefore, to efficiently achieve network observability, we first introduce potential techniques and network scenarios for implementing network measurements. Then, a High-Yield Segment Routing over IPv6 based In-band Network Telemetry (HY-SRv6-INT) system is proposed in this paper. In particular, we design the HY-SRv6-INT system architecture. It consists of IPv6 switches implemented by the P4 language and a Software-Defined Networking (SDN) controller containing the HY-SRv6-INT application. Next, we experimentally demonstrate a packet-level path-associated network measurement process. In addition, the performance of the HY-SRv6-INT system is also quantitatively evaluated to verify its advantages. With the rapid increase in the amount of website data, it has been a more difficult task for users to get the infor-mation they are interested in. Personalized recommendation is an important bridge to find the information which users really need on the website. Many recent studies have introduced additional attribute information about users and/or items to the rating matrix for alleviating the problem of data sparsity. In order to make full use of the attribute information and scoring matrix, deep learning based recommendation methods are proposed, especially the autoencoder model has attracted much attention because of its strong ability to learn hidden features. However, most of the existing autoencoder- based models require that the dimension of the input layer is equal to the dimension of the output layer, which may increase model complexity and certain information loss when using attribute information. In addition, as users' awareness of privacy protection increases, user attribute information is difficult to obtain. To address the above problems, in this paper, we propose a hybrid personalized recommendation model, which uses a semi-autoencoder to jointly embed the item's score vector and internal graph features (short for Co-Agpre). Specifically, we regard the user-item historical interaction matrix as a bipartite graph, and the Laplacian of the user-item co-occurrence graph is utilized to obtain the graph features of the item for solving the problem of sparse attributes. Then a semi-autoencoder is introduced to learn the hidden features of the item and perform rating prediction. The proposed model can flexibly use information from different sources to reduce the complexity of the model. Experiments on two real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed Co-Agpre compared with state-of-the-art methods. © 2021 IEEE.

As innumerable events are reported on Weibo every day, it becomes especially important to predicate the event development trends early as possible. Weibo has been indispensable to the public life;its topic heat predication has become one of the hotspot subjects in data excavation for it provides the basis for public opinion monitoring. In this paper, a non-parametric method is adopted to predicate the heat variation of topic. This method, while maintaining the lower error rate, can effectively predicate whether the topic is heating up. Through the experiment, the parameters can be set flexibly to balance the detection time, true positive rate and false positive rate. The algorithm proposed in this research is effective and extendible, it is believed to help the Sina weibo developer and government in public opinion monitoring. According to this requirement, a non-parametric method is proposed to predicate the development trend of Sina weibo topics. © 2018 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Recently, 5G wireless communication have been rapidly adopted for maritime applications. As a result, significant progress has been made in the ocean digitalization. 5G features with low latency, high reliability, and a large bandwidth, which satisfies the requirements of maritime applications. Due to significant differences between land and marine radio propagation environments, the maritime communication encounters a large challenge for providing maritime users with reliable data communication service. In order to solve the abovementioned challenge, we designed a maritime 5G terminal and tested it on an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) in the Lanyue Lake of Zhejiang Ocean University. The test data were collected, and the corresponding data analysis are presented, which includes signal strength, signal reception quality, upload and download data rate. The received signal level (RSL) and transmission data rate obtained by the maritime 5G terminals demonstrate great potential of meeting the communication requirements of the maritime users. It is also can be found that the RSL and the data transmission rate of the maritime 5G can be used for the remote control of the unmanned ships, with the signal strength at sea up to -89.45 dBm, and maximum rate up to 226 Mbps. © 2023 Institute of Physics Publishing. Community discovery can help discover potential community structures in the network, which is a fundamental and important issue in network science. Graph neural network-based algorithms are receiving increasing attention. However, there is relatively little work on community discovery directly using graph neural networks in reconstruction design. This paper presents an Unsupervised Community Discovery Algorithm based on reconstructed graph neural network (UCDA) to resolve the above issues. To be specific, this paper proposes a framework that learns the representation based on network structure and attribute information. By designing input network features, encoders, decoders, this algorithm uses an unsupervised loss function to train neural networks to extract communities in an integrated way. These designs integrate higher-order modularity information with network features and use variational graph auto-encoders to train data end-to-end under the graph neural network framework. Based on a series of experiments with a wide range of datasets and advanced algorithms, UCDA has achieved superior performance and shows strong competitiveness. Finally, the last section reports the results analysis, t-SNE visualization and hyperparameter analysis, which depicts stable performance and powerful network modularity ability. © 2023 IEEE.

Extracting buildings from remote sensing images using deep learning techniques is a widely applied and crucial task. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) adopt hierarchical feature representation, showcasing powerful capabilities in extracting local information but facing challenges in capturing global features. Transformers can address this limitation, but they perform poorly in extracting local features and significantly increase memory requirements and computational complexity. To overcome these challenges, we propose a method for building extraction from remote sensing images called LGDB-Net (Local-Global Dual-Branch Network), employing a dual-branch approach. Firstly, inspired by Swin Transformer, we designed GB-Former(Global Branch-Former) as the backbone network to model global information. We use a linear multi-head self-attention mechanism to reduce time and memory complexity while maintaining a large global receptive field. Additionally, we replace the traditional multi-layer perceptron with a convolution-enhanced multi-layer perceptron to improve channel feature representation, reduce model parameters, and enhance segmentation performance. Secondly, we use multiple Depth-wise Conv3×3 + LN (Layer Normalization) + GeLU (Gaussian Error Linear Unit) modules as the auxiliary branch for local detailed feature extraction. Finally, we adopt a multi-scale feature fusion strategy to integrate feature information from both branches. We conduct a series of experiments on three datasets: WHU, Massachusetts, and Inria. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method not only effectively improves segmentation accuracy with lower building omission and commission rates but also significantly reduces model parameters and computational complexity. © 2024 IEEE.
