Mobility-aware Seamless Service Migration and Resource Allocation in Multi-edge IoV Systems

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) offers low-latency and high-bandwidth support for Internet-of-Vehicles (IoV) applications. However, due to high vehicle mobility and finite communication coverage of base stations, it is hard to maintain uninterrupted and high-quality services without proper service migration among MEC servers. Existing solutions commonly rely on prior knowledge and rarely consider efficient resource allocation during the service migration process, making it hard to reach optimal performance in dynamic IoV environments. To address these important challenges, we propose SR-CL, a novel mobility-aware seamless Service migration and Resource allocation framework via Convex-optimization-enabled deep reinforcement Learning in multi-edge IoV systems. First, we decouple the Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) problem of service migration and resource allocation into two sub-problems. Next, we design a new actor-critic-based asynchronous-update deep reinforcement learning method to handle service migration, where the delayed-update actor makes migration decisions and the one-step-update critic evaluates the decisions to guide the policy update. Notably, we theoretically derive the optimal resource allocation with convex optimization for each MEC server, thereby further improving system performance. Using the real-world datasets of vehicle trajectories and testbed, extensive experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed SR-CL. Compared to benchmark methods, the SR-CL achieves superior convergence and delay performance under various scenarios. © 2025 IEEE.

Deep learning (DL) is widely used in radio frequency fingerprint identification (RFFI). However, in few-shot case, traditional DL-based RFFI need to construct auxiliary dataset to realize radio frequency fingerprint identification. To address this issue, we propose a few-shot RFFI (FS-RFFI) method based on interpolating metric learning and KNN (IntML-KNN). Specifically, the method first extends the dataset with data augmentation, and CutMix interpolation. Secondly, combining with metric learning to enhance the generalization capacity of the model. Finally, KNN algorithm is designed to realize device classification and detection. The proposed IntML-KNN method is verified on the commercial available LoRa dataset. The experimental results indicate that the proposed scheme exhibits strong classification and generalization performance in FS-RFFI. Meanwhile, the recognition rate of the proposed IntML-KNN reaches 97.00% with only 10% samples. © 1994-2012 IEEE.

With the application of efficient retrieval in information systems and retrieval augmented generation with vector database for large language models, hash coding algorithms have made progress in recent years. The rise of transformer technology in the field of deep learning has brought the possibility to further improve the effect of hash coding algorithms. We introduce the vision transformer framework to both images and audios, and propose a novel approach for the tasks of multi-label image retrieval and audio event retrieval. In the proposed hash coding model, global and local equilibrium distance constraints are integrated, so that the hash codes for images can be better obtained through the global hash centers and local similar samples. In order to realize end-to-end training and hash code generation for audios, we adopt the adapter of mel spectrogram, thus the proposed approach can be simply converted and applied to audio hash coding. Comparative experiments verify that better results can be achieved on multiple image and audio datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

The development of intelligent transportation is of great significance to improving the effectiveness and safety of traffic. A new two-lane lattice hydrodynamics model (LHM) is proposed by simultaneously considering the effects of lane-changing and mixed traffic of connected and non-connected vehicles (CNVs). Using linear analysis, the stability conditions are derived, which indicates that lane-changing has a positive impact on traffic stability. In addition, the numerical simulation results provide support for theoretical analysis and confirm the correctness. © 2023 SPIE.

When using wavelet for voltage interruption detection, improper selection can lead to detection failure due to the differences in wavelet characteristics and the diversity of the generating function. Based on the analysis of wavelet characteristics, the modulus maximum principle is used to compare the detail coefficients after wavelet decomposition, and a method that should be followed for selecting the generating function is proposed. Here are four important points to consider: First, choose orthogonal wavelets that can decrease redundancy. Second, symmetry does not have a major effect. Third, higher-order vanishing moments and longer support lengths result in better singularity detection. Finally, the order of vanishing moments is more important than the support length. We establish a disturbance signal model with interruption occurring at the time of voltage zero crossing and select six types of wavelets: db1, db3, db6, db8, coif2, and coif3 for four-scale wavelet decomposition. The experimental results demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed method in this paper. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This paper introduces the Temporal Transform Network based on Scale Sequences (TTS) for cloth-changing person re-identification in video datasets. The TTS network is designed to capture multi-scale temporal cues within video sequences. It accomplishes this by initially modeling short-term temporal cues between adjacent frames, followed by capturing long-term relationships between non-consecutive frames. In more detail, short-term temporal cues are modeled through parallel inflated convolutions with different time dilation rates, enabling the representation of pedestrian movement and appearance dynamics. Long-term relationships are effectively captured using a temporal self-attention model, mitigating challenges such as occlusion and noise within the video sequence. The TTS network outperforms existing methods across cloth-changing video ReID datasets such as CCVID. For instance, under general settings, our approach exhibits a 1.1% improvement in top-1 accuracy and a corresponding 1.1% increase in mAP compared to the baseline. In cloth-changing settings, we observe a 0.2% enhancement in top-1 accuracy and a notable 1.3% increase in mAP relative to the baseline. © 2023 IEEE.

The recent success of large language models (LLMs) has shown great potential to develop more powerful conversational recommender systems (CRSs), which rely on natural language conversations to satisfy user needs. In this paper, we embark on an investigation into the utilization of ChatGPT for CRSs, revealing the inadequacy of the existing evaluation protocol. It might overemphasize the matching with ground-truth items annotated by humans while neglecting the interactive nature of CRSs. To overcome the limitation, we further propose an interactive Evaluation approach based on LLMs, named iEvaLM, which harnesses LLM-based user simulators. Our evaluation approach can simulate various system-user interaction scenarios. Through the experiments on two public CRS datasets, we demonstrate notable improvements compared to the prevailing evaluation protocol. Furthermore, we emphasize the evaluation of explainability, and ChatGPT showcases persuasive explanation generation for its recommendations. Our study contributes to a deeper comprehension of the untapped potential of LLMs for CRSs and provides a more flexible and realistic evaluation approach for future research about LLM-based CRSs. With the increasing exploitation of marine resources, there is worldwide concern about the marine environment. It is a hot topic how to assert the marine pollution. Concentrating on dissolved oxygen and suspended solids in offshore water of yellow river mouth, this paper establishes a model of marine pollution assessment by a compositional interval-valued fuzzy relation with Bandler-Kohout subproduct.
