In domain ontology, semantic association (SA) is used to depict the correlation between two concepts. In this paper, we define semantic association degree (SAD) for measuring SA in the domain ontology. We first present a method to measure SAD of two direct related concepts by evaluating the semantic relationship between them, and then give another method to measure SAD of two indirect related concepts though SAD of two directed neighboring concepts. A set of comparison experiments show the benefit of our approaches.

Geographical information System (GIS) integrates operation and synthesis analysis of multi-factor information, satisfying the demand of high efficiency and visual performance in human computer Interaction, whereas Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technology assigns and utilizes network resources flexibly, making information exchange more dynamic and real-time with participants' autonomy to certain extent. Therefore, by the thought of uniting information processing merits of GIS and P2P, a design method of new information service system -Gippy - is introduced to keep pace with information exchange demands among dispersed governance regions, especially as universities. It is discussed in this paper that Gippy's key achieving technologies including its applications as well as architecture characteristics. We also points out new value-added functions adopted by Gippy, and give a research on feasibility of optimizing and extending. © 2007 IEEE.

2DCMA： An Effective Maintenance Algorithm of Materialized Views in Peer data Management Systems

Update management is very important for data integration systems. So update management in peer data management systems （PDMSs） is a hot research area. This paper researches on view maintenance in PDMSs. First, the definition of view is extended and the peer view, local view and global view are proposed according to the requirements of applications. There are two main factors to influence materialized views in PDMSs. One is that schema mappings between peers are changed, and the other is that peers update their data. Based on the requirements, this paper proposes an algorithm called 2DCMA, which includes two sub-algorithms： data and definition consistency maintenance algorithm% to effectively maintain views. For data consistency maintenance, Mork＇s rules are extended for governing the use of updategrams and boosters. The new rule system can be used to optimize the execution plan. And are extended for the data consistency maintenance algorithm is based on the new rule system. Furthermore, an ECA rule is adopted for definition consistency maintenance. Finally, extensive simulation experiments are conducted in SPDMS. The simulation results show that the 2DCMA algorithm has better performance than that of Mork＇s when maintaining data consistency. And the 2DCMA algorithm has better performance than that of centralized view maintenance algorithm when maintaining definition consistency.

By means of introducing multi-auctioneer model, resources in the computational economic grid can be managed and allocated like in the auction. We research and put forward the corresponding solve schemes of three key issues of auctioneer system: preventing auctioneer from cheating, selection of auctioneer, setting of trading prices, and use computational grid modeling and simulation tools GridSim to simulate computational grid environment in the experiment which uses multiauctioneer system to manage and schedule, then we analyze the results of experiment in different conditions, and validate the feasibility of a multi-auctioneer system in computational grid.

For ontology-based applications, the efficiency of ontology query is vital. Different from existing approaches, the paper improves performance of ontology query by materializing some derived relations. Experimental results show that the integrated performance of ontology query can be improved greatly by maintaining materialized relations and the materialized relations technique has good scalability. Here the challenge is how to maintain the materialized relations incrementally with the update of ontologies. Because transitive relations are in common use in ontology, the paper proposes a novel algorithm for maintaining transitive materialized relations incrementally based on a special weighted materialized relation transitive graph, which can solve the coexistence problem of multiple derived paths better and proves the correctness of the algorithm. © 2006 IEEE.

The integration of database and information retrieval techniques provides users with a wide range of high quality services. We present a prototype system, called NUITS, for efficiently processing keyword queries on top of a relational database. Our NUITS allows users to issue simple keyword queries as well as advanced keyword queries with conditions. Classification and regression are most interesting problems in the fields of pattern recognition. The regression problem can be changed into binary classification problem and least squares support vector machine can be used to solve the classification problem. The optimal hyperplane is the regression function. In this paper, a one-step method is presented to deal with the multi-category problem. The proposed method converts the problem of classification into the function regression problem and is applied to solve the converted problem by least squares support vector machines. The novel method classifies the samples in all categories simultaneously only by solving a set of linear equations. Demonstrations of numerical experiments are performed and good performances are obtained. Simulation results show that the regression and classification can be converted each other based on least squares support vector machines. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2006.

In this paper, we introduce the condition of distributed computing at present firstly. On this foundation, according to the analysis of particular case of distributed computing network, we implement a distributed network environment of P2P whose bottom layer frame is based on JXTA. It improves issuing method of message based on pipeline decomposition mechanism of task based on usage ratio of processor and distributed mechanism of object based on serialization. We build an improved distributed computing network platform on the platform of Linux and Windows and simulate a distributed computing environment. The simulated experiment proves the feasibility and the validity of the distributed network computing platform that is constructed in this paper
