Quantum partial least squares regression algorithm for multiple correlation problem

Partial least squares(PLS) regression is an important linear regression method that efficiently addresses the multiple correlation problem by combining principal component analysis and multiple regression. In this paper, we present a quantum partial least squares(QPLS) regression algorithm. To solve the high time complexity of the PLS regression, we design a quantum eigenvector search method to speed up principal components and regression parameters construction. Meanwhile, we give a density matrix product method to avoid multiple access to quantum random access memory(QRAM)during building residual matrices. The time and space complexities of the QPLS regression are logarithmic in the independent variable dimension n, the dependent variable dimension w, and the number of variables m. This algorithm achieves exponential speed-ups over the PLS regression on n, m, and w. In addition, the QPLS regression inspires us to explore more potential quantum machine learning applications in future works.

With the continuous development of education, online education is becoming more and more popular with learners because of its convenience. However, online education has the problem of insufficient interaction with students. Students still need to rely on the students themselves to judge the lack of knowledge in practice tasks, which will greatly affect the learning efficiency. In this paper, we propose a method based on formal concept analysis to analyze the knowledge that may not be mastered, and a method of intensive practice for students. First of all, establishing the formal context of student error test questions, construct the concept lattice to calculate the degree of importance of the knowledge concept that may not be mastered, judge the student's mastery of the knowledge concept, and give feedback. Secondly, construct the concept lattice of the unpractised test set, and calculate the similarity of the concept extension set that meets the threshold, find similar topics and push them, and realize targeted training for students who have not mastered the knowledge concepts. © 2022 SPIE.

Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have shown promising results in various tasks, but their ability to perceive the visual world with deep, hierarchical understanding similar to humans remains uncertain. To address this gap, we introduce CONSTRUCTURE, a novel concept-level benchmark to assess MLLMs' hierarchical concept understanding and reasoning abilities. Our goal is to evaluate MLLMs across four key aspects: 1) Understanding atomic concepts at different levels of abstraction;2) Performing upward abstraction reasoning across concepts;3) Achieving downward concretization reasoning across concepts;and 4) Conducting multi-hop reasoning between sibling or common ancestor concepts. Our findings indicate that even state-of-the-art multimodal models struggle with concept structure reasoning (e.g., GPT-4o averages a score of 62.1%). We summarize key findings of MLLMs in concept structure reasoning evaluation. Morever, we provide key insights from experiments using CoT prompting and fine-tuning to enhance their abilities. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

The recent rise of conversational applications such as online customer service systems and intelligent personal assistants has promoted the development of conversational knowledge base question answering (ConvKBQA). Different from the traditional single-turn KBQA, ConvKBQA usually explores multi-turn questions around a topic, where ellipsis and coreference pose great challenges to the single-turn KBQA systems which require self-contained questions. In this paper, we propose a rewrite- and-reason framework to first produce a full-fledged rewritten question based on the conversation history and then reason the answer by existing single-turn KBQA models. To overcome the absence of the rewritten supervision signals, we introduce a knowledge-augmented self-training mechanism to transfer the question rewriter from another dataset to adapt to the current knowledge base. Our question rewriter is decoupled from the subsequent QA process, which makes it easy to be united with either retrieval-based or semantic parsing-based KBQA models. Experiment results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method and a new state-of-the-art result is achieved. The remaining useful life (RUL) of bearings is critical to the proper operation of mechanical equipment, maintenance of equipment costs and availability. The existing domain adaptation methods have had great success in RUL prediction. However, when the target bearing data are unavailable or unknown to be involved in model training, the domain adaptation approaches also incapable. To solve the problem, we propose a parallel reversible instance normalization method based on adaptive threshold stage division for remaining useful life prediction of unknown bearings. First, we design an adaptive threshold method to find degradation points to divide the healthy and degradation stages. Then according to time series, we merge the original vibration data and its instance normalized data to increase the data distribution diversity. Finally, we combine instance normalization and parallel reversible normalization of the source bearing data into unified RUL learning framework to solve the uncertainty of counterfactual data and improve RUL prediction performance. The results show that the method is superior to the state-of-the-art methods for RUL prediction of unknown bearings.

Un-refined pseudo labels always disturb the cross-domain Re-ID performance in unsupervised clustering methods. In this paper, we propose a consistency-aware unsupervised label learning network to refine noisy labels for promising domain adaptation. Specifically, we use a hetero-generated label consistency constraint to mine possible label information, keep a reference consistency of the target pairs on the relative comparative characteristics. We then use a cross-granularity attention consistency constraint to refine the pseudo labels meanwhile learning multi-granularity discriminative representation, keeping a self-similarity consistency of the corresponding parts on the discriminative regions. Our model is fine-tuned by the refined pseudo-labels to reduce the domain gap while coping with the intra-domain variation. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve superior performance on several benchmark datasets. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Rockburst is a phenomenon in which free surfaces are formed during excavation,which subsequently causes the sudden release of energy in the construction of mines and *** rockburst only peels off rock slices without ejection,while severe rockburst causes casualties and property *** frequency and degree of rockburst damage increases with the excavation ***,rockburst is the leading engineering geological hazard in the excavation process,and thus the prediction of its intensity grade is of great significance to the development of geotechnical ***,the prediction of rockburst intensity grade is one problem that needs to be solved *** comprehensively considering the occurrence mechanism of rockburst,this paper selects the stress index(σθ/σc),brittleness index(σ_(c)/σ_(t)),and rock elastic energy index(Wet)as the rockburst evaluation indexes through the Spearman coefficient *** overcomes the low accuracy problem of a single evaluation index prediction *** this,the BGD-MSR-DNN rockburst intensity grade prediction model based on batch gradient descent and a multi-scale residual deep neural network is *** batch gradient descent(BGD)module is used to replace the gradient descent algorithm,which effectively improves the efficiency of the network and reduces the model training ***,the multi-scale residual(MSR)module solves the problem of network degradation when there are too many hidden layers of the deep neural network(DNN),thus improving the model prediction *** experimental results reveal the BGDMSR-DNN model accuracy to reach 97.1%,outperforming other comparable ***,actual projects such as Qinling Tunnel and Daxiangling Tunnel,reached an accuracy of 100%.The model can be applied in mines and tunnel engineering to realize the accurate and rapid prediction of rockburst intensity grade.

computer network plays a very important role in today’s world. With the development of network technology and the increasing popularity of network topology, network management is facing huge challenges. Among them, finding network traffic anomalies is one of the most important tasks in network monitoring, and is an important technology in network intrusion, security monitoring, and performance maintenance. This paper aims to study data preprocessing techniques in network traffic anomaly detection. This paper firstly introduces the network traffic measurement characteristics completely, and then selects and applies the data preprocessing algorithm, constructs a complete data preprocessing framework, and conducts experiments for the abnormal detection of network multi-dimensional characteristic traffic and the abnormal detection of unit-level characteristic traffic. The superiority of the data preprocessing technology in this paper, by reducing the data, determines the data preprocessing threshold of this paper to ensure that the data preprocessing is maximized. Experiments show that the data preprocessing technology constructed in this paper has about 20% more data filtering than traditional data filtering, which shortens the amount of detection data. The threshold is around 0.6, and data preprocessing can maximize the reduction of data without destroying the integrity of the attacked data. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Dual-view gaze target estimation in classroom environments has not been thoroughly explored. Existing methods lack consideration of depth information, primarily focusing on 2D image information and neglecting the latent 3D spatial context, which could lead to suboptimal transformation and cause the gaze cone to intersect with an incorrect object. This paper introduces a novel dual-view gaze target estimation method tailored for classroom settings, leveraging depth-enhanced spatial transformations. By formulating a depth-enhanced 2D space, our method uses depth-enhanced spatial transformation to accurately project students' gaze cones to the teacher-oriented image. Additionally, we collected a dataset named DVSGE, specifically for student gaze target estimation in dual-view classroom images. Experimental results demonstrate significant performance improvements of 9.8% in AUC and 19.9% in L2-Distance for our method, surpassing existing methods. © 2025 IEEE.

Link prediction is a crucial issue in opportunistic networks routing research. Static link prediction methods ignore the historical information of network evolution, which affects the prediction accuracy. In this paper, we propose a link prediction method (HS-LSTM) that combines hybrid similarity metrics and the E-LSTM-D model. The approach extracts structural features using hybrid similarity metrics, constructs a structural feature matrix, and applies the E-LSTM-D model to extract temporal features and predict the links that have not yet appeared in the network. Our experiments on three real datasets of opportunistic networks (Infocom5, MIT, and Haggle) shows that our proposed method outperforms the baseline method in terms of prediction accuracy. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
