Electrocardiogram-to-Pair (E2P): A Secure Group Pairing Protocol for WBAN Devices

In a wireless body area network (WBAN), group pairing among multiple wearable devices enables efficient and secure broadcasting group messages. Existing pairing methods that rely on trusted concentrators, active participation of users, or homogeneous environments are vulnerable to single point of failure and have restricted practicality. In this article, we propose Electrocardiogram-to-Pair (E2P), an electrocardiogram (ECG)-based secure group pairing protocol for WBAN devices that allows the establishment of a shared group key among multiple devices without requiring the user involvement or the central device. First, all wearable devices worn by the same user simultaneously collect ECG signals, which are then pre-processed through filtering and alignment to minimize the effect of noise on the pairing. Next, an adaptive quantization method is designed to reliably quantize the pre-processed ECG signals to generate initial keys. This method is ingenious as it relies on feature transformation and dynamic thresholds generation in the quantization process, which effectively ensures the security of biometrics and increases the key generation rate. Then, the group key is established among devices with initial keys through an improved Cascade method. The simulation results demonstrate that E2P achieves an effective balance the reliability and efficiency in group pairing, with outstanding performance in both security and key generation rate. © 2014 IEEE.

Potential friendship discovery in social networks based on hybrid ensemble multiple collaborative filtering models in a 5G network environment

At present, 5G network technology is being applied to various social network modes, and it can provide technical and traffic support for social networks. Potential friendship discovery technology in 5G-enabled social networks is beneficial for users to make potential friends and expand their range of activities and social hierarchy, which is highly sought after in today's social networks and has great economic and application value. However, the sparsity of the dominant user association dataset in 5G-enabled social networks and the limitations of traditional collaborative filtering algorithms are two major challenges for the friend recommendation problem. Therefore, in order to overcome these problems regarding previous models, we propose a Hybrid Ensemble Multiple Collaborative Filtering Model (HEMCF) for discovering potential buddy relationships. The HEMCF model draws on a special autoencoder method that can effectively exploit the association matrix between friends and additional information to extract a hidden representation of users containing global structural information. Then, it uses the random walk-based graph embedding algorithm DeepWalk to extract another hidden representation of users in the buddy network containing local structural information. Finally, in the output module, the HEMCF model stacks and multiplies the two types of hidden representations of users to ensure that the information mentioned above is concentrated in the final output to generate the final prediction value. The magnitude of the prediction value represents the probability of the users being friends, with larger values representing a high probability of the two users being friends, and vice versa. Experimental results show that the proposed method boosts the accuracy of the relationship prediction over baselines on 3 real-world public datasets dramatically.

The only constant is change. Drift detection in process mining is a family of methods to detect changes by analyzing event logs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of business processes in process-aware information systems (e.g., ERP systems). However, artificial feature selection is still a mountain to climb in existing methods, which requires high domain knowledge for users. In this paper, we propose a novel approach by using Graph convolutional networks for Drifts Detection in the event log, we name it GDD. Specifically, 1) we transform event sequences into two directed graphs by using two consecutive time windows, and construct the line graphs for the directed graphs to capture the orders between different activities;2) we use graph convolutional networks to capture the features in these graphs, and augment the original graphs with virtual nodes to represent the latent aspects of the graphs;3) we calculate the distances between virtual nodes, and use the K-means algorithm to find the outliers that are considered as candidate change points. Then, a filter mechanism is used to confirm the actual change points. The experiments on simulated event logs and real-life event logs confirmed the improvements of GDD compared with the baselines. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Distracted driving causes many accidents every year, most of which can be avoided with automatic recognition. As a result, vision-based driver action recognition is receiving increasing research attention. In a limited in-vehicle space, actions can be very ambiguous from an individual view. Therefore exploring efficient multi-view action recognition architecture is meaningful. This study aims to detect the distraction of drivers while identifying the cause. A novel driver action recognition architecture named multi-view vision transformer (MVVT) is proposed, which combines classical convolutional neural networks (CNNs) with vision transformer. Self-attention mechanism is utilized to dynamically aggregate temporal information and fuse features of different views jointly. Experiments demonstrate that MVVT can effectively recognize drivers’ behaviors with multi-view input. A promising result of 84.9% accuracy is achieved on a large public driver action dataset. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

EFIE: Efficient and Fine-Grained Image Encryption Algorithm With Permutation-Substitution Synchronization

Currently, both pixel-level and bit-level image encryption algorithms demonstrate excellent visual performance. However, most high-security algorithms usually involve complex encryption steps, which increase the time complexity. In addition, some algorithms are challenging to adjust flexibly according to specific scenarios, making it difficult to achieve a balance between security and efficiency. In this paper, we propose an efficient and fine-grained image encryption algorithm, named EFIE. The main step of EFIE is the proposed permutation-substitution synchronization procedure, which is much more efficient compared to existing image encryption solutions. To our knowledge, we first introduce the concept of fine-grained encryption, which allows the encryptor to flexibly set the encryption unit (e.g., 1-bit, 2-bit, or 1-pixel). The smaller the length of the encryption unit, the longer the encryption time and the higher the level of security. The experimental results and various security analyses demonstrate that EFIE provides excellent encryption performance. When the encryption unit is 1 bit, encrypting a 512 × 512 color image requires only about 2.34 seconds. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Image operation chain detection techniques have gained increasing attention recently in the field of multimedia forensics. However, existing detection methods suffer from the generalization problem. Moreover, the channel correlation of color images that provides additional forensic evidence is often ignored. To solve these issues, in this article, we propose a novel two-stream multi-channels fusion networks for color image operation chain detection in which the spatial artifact stream and the noise residual stream are explored in a complementary manner. Specifically, we first propose a novel deep residual architecture without pooling in the spatial artifact stream for learning the global features representation of multi-channel correlation. Then, a set of filters is designed to aggregate the correlation information of multi-channels while capturing the low-level features in the noise residual stream. Subsequently, the high-level features are extracted by the deep residual model. Finally, features from the two streams are fed into a fusion module, to effectively learn richer discriminative representations of the operation chain. Extensive experiments show that the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art generalization ability while maintaining robustness to JPEG compression. The motion mode of near-space targets is complex due to their high threat level. The target imaging faces low SNR and susceptibility to background noise. The existing detection and classification algorithms struggle to meet the demands of performance and speed on such targets. To address these issues, a YOLOv5-based target detection algorithm utilizes CARAFE upsampling and the small detection head to extract internal features and edge information of dim target. The algorithm adeptly captures dim target features, enhancing real-time performance and detection accuracy while overcoming subtle feature granularity and extraction difficulties. Aiming at the problem that there is no existing trajectory classification algorithm in the near-space field, we propose an infrared dim target trajectory classification algorithm. The improved attention module is used to enhance the extraction of motion features, and the target category is accurately identified by the prediction module, improving the capacity to extract dependencies between trajectory fragments. We execute comparative experiments on common infrared dim target dataset, near-space infrared dim target dataset and real dataset to confirm the viability of our methods. The outcomes indicate that our proposed method can be applied to the above three types of dim targets and significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2023.
