Multiview feature selection combining latent space and similarity structure learning

Unsupervised multiview feature selection dependent on similar or clustering structures has dramatically progressed, but both ignore the mutually reinforcing relationship between structure learning. Firstly, the two methods of appeal ignore the possibility of shared joint learning, although they can learn coherent information. Secondly, they are inadequate for data structure learning and lack awareness of co-learning global and local structures. This paper proposes an unsupervised feature selection method (SCSF_FS) that integrates similarity and clustering structures learning to capture intrinsic information in data. Specifically, we use latent space learning to partition multiple data matrices into view-specific base matrices and clustering metrics. Structural learning is used to transform specific clustering metrics into coherent clustering structures. In addition, adaptive weights are used on each view’s similarity matrix to learn a consistent similarity structure, while laplacian graph learning is introduced to unify the similarity and clustering structures. Consequently, a unified framework is designed to unify multiview consistency learning, global structure, and local structure preservation. Moreover, an optimization iteration algorithm is designed to solve it. Comparison with eight algorithms shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Objective: This paper gives context on recent literature regarding the development of digital personal health libraries (PHL) and provides insights into the potential application of consumer health informatics in diverse clinical specialties. Materials and Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. Here, 2,850 records were retrieved from PubMed and EMBASE in March 2020 using search terms: personal, health, and library. Information related to the health topic, target population, study purpose, library function, data source, data science method, evaluation measure, and status were extracted from each eligible study. In addition, knowledge discovery methods, including co-occurrence analysis and multiple correspondence analysis, were used to explore research trends of PHL. Results: After screening, this systematic review focused on a dozen articles related to PHL. These encompassed health topics such as infectious diseases, congestive heart failure, electronic prescribing. data science methods included relational database, information retrieval technology, ontology construction technology. Evaluation measures were heterogeneous regarding PHL functions and settings. At the time of writing, only one of the PHLs described in these articles is available for the public while the others are either prototypes or in the pilot stage. Discussion: Although PHL researches have used different methods to address problems in diverse health domains, there is a lack of an effective PHL to meet the needs of older adults. Conclusion: The development of PHLs may create an unprecedented opportunity for promoting the health of older consumers by providing diverse health information. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. With the increasing of software complexity and user demands, collaborative service is becoming more and more popular. Each service focuses on its own specialty, their cooperation can support complicated task with high efficiency. To improve the resources utilization, virtualization technology like container is used and it enables multiple services running in the same physical machine. However, since the host physical machine is shared by several services, the resource competition is inevitable. Isolation is an effective solution, but the weak isolation mechanisms of container cannot handle such complicated scenarios. In the worst situation, the performance of services cannot meet the requirements and the system may crash. In order to solve this problem, we propose a priority-based optimization mechanism for I/O isolation after analyzing the characteristics of typical service workloads. Based on the real-time performance data, priority is automatically assigned to each service and corresponding optimization methods are applied. We evaluate the optimization effects of the priority-based mechanism in both static and dynamic workload cases, besides, the influence of different priority order is also analyzed. The experimental results show that our approach can indeed improve the system performance and guarantee the requirements of all the running services are satisfied. © 2019, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering.

Automatic knowledge graph construction seeks to build a knowledge graph from unstructured text in a specific domain or cross multiple domains, without human intervention. IEEE ICDM 2019 and ICBK 2019 invited teams from both degree-granting institutions and industrial labs to compete in the 2019 knowledge Graph Contest by automatically constructing knowledge graphs in at least two different domains. This article reports the outcomes of the Contest. The participants were expected to build a model to extract knowledge represented as triplets from text data and develop a web application to visualize the triplets. Awards were given to five teams. Their models and key techniques used to construct knowledge graphs are summarized.

ANIMC: A soft approach for auto-weighted noisy and incomplete multi-view clustering

Multi-view clustering has wide real-world applications because it can process data from multiple sources. However, these data often contain missing instances and noises, which are ignored by most multi-view clustering methods. Missing instances may make these methods difficult to use directly, and noises will lead to unreliable clustering results. In this paper, we propose a novel Auto-weighted Noisy and Incomplete Multi-view Clustering approach (ANIMC) via a soft auto-weighted strategy and a doubly soft regular regression model. Firstly, by designing adaptive semi-regularized nonnegative matrix factorization (adaptive semi-RNMF), the soft auto-weighted strategy assigns a proper weight to each view and adds a soft boundary to balance the influence of noises and incompleteness. Secondly, by proposing θ-norm, the doubly soft regularized regression model adjusts the sparsity of our model by choosing different θ. Compared with previous methods, ANIMC has three unique advantages: 1) it is a soft algorithm to adjust our approach in different scenarios, thereby improving its generalization ability;2) it automatically learns a proper weight for each view, thereby reducing the influence of noises;3) it performs doubly soft regularized regression that aligns the same instances in different views, thereby decreasing the impact of missing instances. Extensive experimental results demonstrate its superior advantages over other state-of-the-art methods. Impact Statement-As an effective method to process data from multiple sources, multi-view clustering has attracted more and more attention. However, most previous works ignore missing instances and noises in original multi-view data, which limits the applications of these works. By a soft approach, our proposed ANIMC can effectively reduce the negative influence of missing instances and noises. Recently, patent data analysis has attracted a lot of attention, and patent keyword extraction is a hot problem. Most existing methods for patent keyword extraction are based on the frequency of words without semantic information. In this paper, we propose an Unsupervised keyword Extraction Method (UKEM) based on Chinese patent clustering. More specifically, we use a Skip-gram model to train word embeddings based on a Chinese patent corpus. Then each patent is represented as a vector called patent vector. These patent vectors are clustered to obtain several cluster centroids. Next, the distance between each word vector in patent abstract and cluster centroid is computed to indicate the semantic importance of this word. The experimental results on several Chinese patent datasets show that the performance of our proposed method is better than several competitive methods.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a disease with normal glucose tolerance before pregnancy and only diabetes during pregnancy. The discovery of GDM has a long history. The specific causes and mechanisms of its occurrence are still unclear. There is a lack of research on intelligent diagnosis of GDM. GDM has many adverse effects on pregnant women and fetuses, which is of great significance for the early diagnosis of GDM. Based on the measured data of the hospital, this paper realizes the intelligent diagnosis of GDM by using a improved KNN algorithm and a improved BP neural network. © 2019 IEEE.

Lockdown measures are essential to containing the spread of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),but they will slow down economic growth by reducing industrial and commercial ***,the benefits of activity control from containing the pandemic have not been examined and *** we use daily carbon dioxide(CO_(2))emission reduction in China estimated from statistical data for energy consumption and satellite data for nitrogen dioxide(NO_(2))measured by the Ozone Monitoring Instrument(OMI)as an indicator for reduced activities consecutive to a *** perform a correlation analysis to show that a 1%day-1 decrease in the rate of COVID-19 cases is associated with a reduction in daily CO_(2) emissions of 0.22%±0.02%using statistical data for energy consumption relative to emissions without COVID-19,or 0.20%±0.02%using satellite data for atmospheric column NO_(2).We estimate that swift action in China is effective in limiting the number of COVID-19 cases<100,000 with a reduction in CO_(2) emissions of up to 23%by the end of February 2020,whereas a 1-week delay would have required greater containment and a doubling of the emission reduction to meet the same *** analyzing the costs of health care and fatalities,we find that the benefits on public health due to reduced activities in China are 10-fold larger than the loss of gross domestic *** findings suggest an unprecedentedly high cost of maintaining activities and CO_(2) emissions during the COVID-19 pandemic and stress substantial benefits of containment in public health by taking early actions to reduce activities during the outbreak of COVID-19.
